Shane Shillingford celebrates the fall of a wicket during the Windies/Zimbabwe Test

Off-spinner Shane Shillingford’s amazing performance at the just concluded West Indies/Zimbabwe Test series has catapulted him up the International Cricket Council Test bowlers rankings.

According to the latest ranking, released on Wednesday, he jumped an amazing 18 spots to be 23rd.

He is the biggest overall mover in the ranking.

During the two-Test series, Shillingford captured a total of 19 wickets, nine in Barbados and 10 in Dominica.

This allowed him to break Courtney Walsh’s record for the most wickets in a two-Test series.

Walsh grabbed 16 wickets against New Zealand back in 1995.

Shillingford’s performance effectively crushed Zimbabwe, and West Indies won the series 2-0.

He was named Man of the Match for the two Test matches and Man of the Series at the end.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has announced that his government will recognize Shillingford in “a tangible way.”

Shane, you were given an opportunity amid the envy and doubt of people as Frazeer. You have projected your capability and excelled. This gives you every reason to be pleased and to rejoice. I wish you well in future endeavors. Good luck! God bless!

This calls for some form of recognition which could be used to promote Dominica.

Use this as a marketing tool… for example – when Shane next goes somewhere international to play create…perhaps Tourism Dominica could take out an ad to have shown during the commercial tv breaks if the show is being shown live on tv ..
You know – spend a lil money to gather interest.

See why we think Shane is our Superhero, see Nature’s best from the Nature Isla

taht’s just one example…. Oay to information about Dominica at the venues… have a Banner – Shane of the Nature Isle

it’s time Tourism Dominica piggy back on Shane’s success. It’s nto only his success it can be Dominican’s also

Thinking outside the usual Dominica cardboard box

congrats to you Shane! You keep making us proud in Dominica as the world is looking at you.
That’s why the Dominica Cricket association and windward Island cricket board should write a joint letter to the WICB, requesting that Caribbean commentator Frazeer Mohammed apologises for his statement or be banned all regional games. As I said previously, I do not have problem with him supporting his fellow Triniman Narine and campaign for him. But for him to go as far as calling Shane ” A Pelter,” after the ICC cleared his bowling action is indeed of very poor taste. To me his statement is equivalent to a journalist calling a person a murderer after the courts found him not guilty. That is not good for the game especially when it is done by one of our leading voices. Frazeer should know that Shane was not the first and only one called for pelting and was asked to correct their bowling action. In case he forgets, please remind him that Muri of Sri Lanka was called as well as Pakistani pacer whose name I just can’t remember. Now that Mr. Nanthan who is the president of DA cricket, WI, and now the VP of WICB, Frazeer should be made an example to others.

Frazeer must be eating his heart out with envy and shame.

Break into the top ten then head for the No. 1 spot my brother. Keep your head on your head and continue refining your craft!! Put in the hardwork and you will see the results!!

Beware of bribes and so called “tangible” gifts.

If you continue to put in the hard work, you will soon be noticed by the big money-paying cricket leagues around the world and before long you will be plying your trade of good offspin bowling around the world and earning your living by the sweat of your brow which is still the best and most independent way to earn your living.

Can we for once as a united nation bask in “Shanes sunshine” even if for the easter new Life) weekend. Can we do this simple act of courage? Can we accept that soemthing good is happening has happened and can continue to happen to Dominica without any reference by way of innuendo (subtle or direct)to the PM? Everything has to be reduced to partisan politics? Not even Shane’s moment in the sun which was accomplished without any direct involvement of PM skerrit can be appreciated asnd saluted without those not so veiled “ATTEMPTS” to involve the PM? By the way i was happy I was on hand to see Shane destroy Zimbabwe. I could not afford to go to Antigua or Barbados to see test cricket. guess what it was the Hon PM’s visionary action that allowed me the opportunity to be on hand to witness Shane’s triumps. What a story. By the way I saw the fella who sang “I kyan eat concrete” at the Windsor park. Guess what people “he was there before the cameras “enjoying the concrete” he could not eat it but he was grinning, ear to ear, not from stomach cramps from eating concrete, but basking in the glow of theinternational press’ focus on Dominica. Behind us downstairs, the vendors were all smiles from the food an drink that was prepared and sold out. So much for Skerrit’s visionary leadership. Typical Dominicans we are.

But you not seeing is the PM that interject himself in it? Who tell him Shane want any Red Clinic Favours? The guy is a world class bowler and has the potential to earn (legally) much more than the PM can ever dream of in his lifetime.

So let the man do his thing. Is not everybody that want handout; some of us prefer to work for our living.

T.S.B Shane just turned 30 recently. Sadly he may have at most 6 to 7 years to play test cricket. He broke into the team too late to really leave his mark on international cricket.
