Shivnarine Chanderpaul has joined to the list of players to participate in the “Rally ‘Round Dominica” charity match today.
He will be playing for the West Indies Cricket Board’s President’s XI against the University of the West Indies Vice Chancellor’s Celebrity XI in the match organized to raised funds for the people of Dominica.
The legendary left-hander has scored 11,867 runs in 167 Test matches and 8,778 in 268 One-Day Internationals in a remarkable international career. He is the most capped Test player in West Indies history.
The Twenty20 match begins at 7 pm at the historic Kensington Oval in Barbados.
Admission for the event – jointly hosted by the WICB and UWI – is US$10 for adults and US$5 for children under the age of 12, with all proceeds going directly to the Dominica Government to assist with recovery efforts in the island which suffered severe damage to property and loss of life from the passage of Tropical Storm Erika.
Each side will field current players from the West Indies team currently preparing for next month’s tour of Sri Lanka and a number of celebrity players.
West Indies legend Brian Lara, former Trinidad & Tobago and Manchester United football star Dwight Yorke and Jamaican Olympic medallist Yohan Blake are among the first celebrities to confirm their availability for the match.
New West Indies Women’s captain Stafanie Taylor and teammate Deandra Dottin, as well as UWI Vice Chancellor, Professor Sir Hillary Beckles, are also expected to make appearances during the match.

DNO, you should have informed your readers that Shiv Chanderpaul is a holder of a Dominican Passport, thanks to the best Prime minister. https://dominicanewsonline.com/news/homepage/news/politics/tony-astaphan-blasts-hector-john-over-chanderpauls-dominican-citizenship/ Tony Astaphan blasts Hector John over Chanderpaul’s Dominican citizenship. DNO, I am also shocked that you didn’t clear the air about statements made by Pas. Rodney on Q95 about that “Skerrit being the best PM” according to Peter Augustine.
DNO, earlier this week when Peter R made his bull statement you referred to him as Pastor, when it is public knowledge that he is not a pastor. In the interest of truth, he should be referred to as “spiritual advisor”, although it would lead to questions like: Is he the new Spiritual advisor? 2. Was the former one fired or resigned? why has the best PM fail to clear the air? why was the former fired? Is the present…
thanks guys.. just make sure that during the match that man not wining on woman with a beer in each hand cause r skerrit will not be pleased
It’s good to see Shiv on the team. He should have been on the original team. I guess PM Skerrit had to make a strong push for his inclusion and that I agree with, because to me more Dominicans should be on the team. Don’t forget Shiv is Dominican.
Since it’s a celebrity game, why is Mr. Skerrit not on either of the teams? The man is multi-talented and a crowd favorite, why is he not present? Like Shiv, I hope Mr. Skerrit joins the team later.
Players like the Bravo brothers, Pollard, Russell, Ramdin, Samuel, Blackwood, and Holder playing should be on one team, since they boycotted the Indian tour, for love of money. That’s where a strong leader like PM Skerrit should come in to captain them, since he does NOT care a bit about money, and is truly the wisest and best PM Dominica and indeed the Caribbean has had, in this regard.
I hope SC Tony and Alick are umpires to ensure fairness and Bubbles is scorer, while Ms. Scotland handles the money as disaster relief manager
Thank you!
Thank You to all.
