Sixty-two to represent Dominica at Windward Island School Games

dnosportsThe Sports Division in the Ministry of Youth, Sports, Culture and Constituency Empowerment has selected 62 students to represent The Commonwealth of Dominica at the Windward Islands Schools Games (WISG).

The 2016 WISG will be held in Grenada from July 23 to 30. The WISG which is a multi-discipline event, we will see student athletes from the four (4) Windward Islands compete in Athletics, Basketball (boys & girls), Football, Netball and Volleyball (boys & girls).

At the 2015 Games which were held in Dominica, the home team placed second to Grenada who took the overall first place. Dominica won the Basketball (boys) and Volleyball (boys) segments of the 2015 Games.

Dominica’s Team is finalizing preparations with a three-day camp which commenced Tuesday, July 19, in Marigot.

Dominica’s team to 2016 Games in Grenada will be accompanied by nine (9) officials and will leave the state on Thursday 21st and 23rd July. The Students selected are:

The Games will officially open on Saturday, July 23, 2016 with an opening ceremony at 2:30pm followed by Track & Field at the Grenada Athletics Stadium.

Dominica’s team is expected back on August 1 & 2, 2016.

    Good luck team Dominica, I remember my days… Make us proud…..Remember you all are representing our beautiful island Dominica.. Conduct yourselves ……..No breaking curfew or straying from your team….
