SMA U-15 secondary schools football champs

The champs celebrating victory

The St. Mary’s Academy (SMA) are the champion of the Sports Division Schools U-15 champions for 2016/2017.

They achieved that accolade on December 15, 2016 at the finals against the Dominica Grammar School (DGS) played at the Newtown Savannah.

In what was described as a hard-fought game, SMA took the lead in the 16th minutes of play through Quington Moise after a free kick which hit the cross bar came to him.

He made no mistake blasting home a right-footer to put his school in the lead.

Both teams then struggled to gain proper control and possession of the ball and the half ended with SMA holding the one to nil advantage.

DGS made a few changes and started to make raids on the SMA defense but Frankie Bellot and his team in the defense withstood the test.

SMA went further in the lead in the 29th minute of the second half when Audel Laville’s right footer hard and low gave Joshua St. Jean, the DGA goalkeeper no chance.

But DGS was not daunted as they searched for this all important goal which finally came via the boost of Cheddy Joseph in the 32nd minutes of the second half.

That gave them the motivation they needed and they piled on some last-minute pressure on the SMA lads even as Majid Peltier and Turram Toussaint the frontline players for SMA pushed hard for a third goal.

At the end of the final whistle, the score stood at SMA, 2 and DGS, 1.

That`s what you call real labour. You work/labour hard and you get good, rewarding results. No hanky panky like an inept PM we know off.
No up the steps to Red Clinic or favoured hand-outs.
Continue to work and labour hard and run and stay away from this current corrupt Labourparty/

Oh how sweet it is to beat them DGS boys once again     .

We (SMA heritage folks) will always remain the best, smartest and sweetest in the land and no one will EVER be able to deny us. My days playing ball at SMA were some of the best and we consistently slapped DGS and bruised their ego but boy they continue to fight only to loose. Quite frankly, the few times they won was because we felt sorry and allowed them to because we were good catholic boys    . We beat them so badly that they eventually agreed to the team which became known as Gramacadamites. Congrats guys and to the losers I say wheel and come again for another severe beating next year. ORA ET LABORA.

    Always Assertive!

Aye Pardner, please do not try to rewrite history. At the time of the formation of Gramacademites DGS had won the title for fours years straight including the Premier league finals against the Harlem Bombers. After the finals Gramacademites was formed because it was thought that the players on both DGS and SMA were too good not to be combined.
