Insurance firm Sagicor this week presented a cheque of $3,500 to Sagicor South East aimed at showing support for the footballers.
Speaking at a ceremony at the company’s general manager, Cheryl Rolle expressed her “delight” at being associated with the team for the past 12 years.
“As a corporate institution, we have seen it fitting to give back and what better way to so do than with those associated with sports. Sagicor South East have been around for a while and this contribution is just another of the many ways in which we make our contribution,” Rolle stated.
She implored on the team to “continue to be disciplined and respect the referee’s decision” in their quest for football supremacy.
“You have to be patient in what you do and even if you disagree but you must respect the referee’s decision at all times,” she stated.
Manager of Sagicor South East Ron Green said he was extremely happy at the gesture stating that his team “was very happy to have been associated with Sagicor Insurance.”
“We are very thankful for what you have done for us over the past 12 years and we pledge our fullest support and commitment to continue striving for top honours and doing our best,” Green stated.
The Sagicor South East Team has so far been doing very well in the 2012/2013 premier division of the Dominica Football Association (DFA) and is hoping to win the top prize in that competition.

Thats good to see. Well done Sagicor. We need to see much more sponsorship from both the private and public sector. Pump funds into the football and make the stadium available for more football games and then the standard of football will start to get better.
