St Lucia suffers first defeat in U-15 cricket tournament

dno sportsGrenada handed St Lucia their first defeat of the Win Lott Windward Islands Under-15 cricket tournament with a hard fought 6 run win today at the Windsor Park Stadium in Roseau, Dominica.

Grenada won the toss and batted first and scored 209-8 in their 50 overs. Nicody John led the way with 48, Kayden Felix 43, and Sunil Narayanne scored 34 not out.

Keygan Arnold bagged 4-28, Simeon Gearson 2-43 and Curvel joseph 1-27 for St Lucia.

St Lucia in reply could only get 204.

Dominique Auguiste top scored with 29, Garvin Seriuex 26, Akem Auguiste and Tryel Chicoy got 20 runs each.

Sunil Narayann took 4-24 for grenada.

Meantime St Vincent recorded their first win in over 5 years at the under 15 level as they beat Dominica by 4 wickets in a low scoring affair at Benjamin’s Park in Portsmouth.

Dominica’s batting let them down as they were all out for 79, batting first.

Mickel Riviere top scored with 18.

Dominica’s score was boosted with 33 extras.

Jaheil Walters took 4-23 for St Vincent and Ojay Matthews 3-17.

Chasing 80 to win, St Vincent lost 6 wickets in their chase, but the first innings score of 79 was just not enough, the Vincentians took home the match by 4 wickets scoring 80-6 in 17 overs.

Javed Baptiste top scored with 29, while Jocelyn Valmond bagged 3-22 for Dominica.

St Lucia and Grenada now have 2 wins and one loss and have 4 points each.

While Dominica and St Vincent have one win and 2 losses and have 2 points each.

The tournament continues round 2 tomorrow with Dominica playing St Lucia at Windsor Park and St Vincent playing Grenada at Benjamin’s Park.
