This video shows an impromptu jump-up in Dublanc on Wednesday, celebrating Shane Shillingford’s first appearance as a member of the West Indies cricket team.
The Dominican off-spinner is a new face in the West Indies squad for the first Test against South Africa that gets underway in Trinidad from June 10.
“Right now, I am really elated at the prospect of representing the West Indies team,” Shillingford said.

at long last. Sometimes I wander if this is racism against their own blacksor is it islandism?
I remember when irving shilingford and grayson shillingford made west indies, how proud i was to be a dominican at that time. We should always celebrate achievements like that, and i hope the young man takes the bull by horns and run with it. It is not good enough to just make the team, even though that is an enormous feat, but for him to have a relentless and sustained career with the west indies cricket team, unlike irving or grayson that could cement him in the annals of the cricket elite.
after watching that video i am embarassed to call my self a dominican…….instead they watch the cricket they ther jumping in the road lol… we sort in dat country wiiii.. weh! weh! weh!!!!
I agree with you that you should not call yourself a Dominican because you are too freaking shallow!! You are embarrassed to call yourself a Dominican because other Dominicans are proud of the success of one of their own!! Why not just disappear!!
frist ball and first 0, well done shane . u will not forget that day
Well done young man keep it up just dont get swell headed, take your game seriously the benefits will come automatically, good luck
Why I love Dominica
Any excuse for a jump up

GREAT………………BAD……………..REMEMBER.
ITS GREAT TO SEE A YOUNG DOMINICAN PROVE HIS WORTH ON THE INTERNATIONAL STAGE…I WAS SO PROUD..I HONESTLY ALMOST CRIED AND I CONSIDER MYSELF TO BE A HARD-A**.
ITS BAD, HOWEVER, IF THE WEST INDIES SELECTORS CONTINUE TO OVERLOOK PURE SMALL ISLAND TALENT FOR THE ‘WASTE-OF-TIMES’ OF THE BIGGER ISLANDS…..I GUESS WE WILL WATCH AND SEE.
SHANE..REMEMBER…NO MATTER WHAT YOU HAVE 70,000 PLUS LOYAL FANS WHO ARE BEHIND YOU 100%.
DUDE……………FROM A STRAIGHT BROTHER TO A STRAIGHT BROTHER……WE LOVE YOU….KEEP IT UP.
congrats to shane just keep what you are doing now you are the fifth. we

I want to thank Shane as a Dominican. I’m so excited that i’m at a lost for words.
just to watch him toss the ball up and catch it before he bowls shows how skillful he is!
bravo like that .shane mke the team apil alot.
the commentator say shane revived the team………..he got 3 to 4 wicket to take
Good vibes. Proud to be Dominican.
Oh, now you proud to be Dominican?
lol
I just have the feeling that Dominica has a key role to play in terms of a resurgence of the passion for West Indies Cricket. We have gotten our opportunity late and so the interest in on a definite high while it may be dwindling in the other Island.
I just hope that West Indies Cricket Board and other interest can see the opportunity therein.
Congratulations Shane, Congratulations Dominica (La Isla Bonita).
Boy i take a foot under that lapo kabwit today. big up to shane for taking 2 wickets on the first day of his debut test. he taking a 5 wicket haul. u representing dublanc to the max.
Oh my God I shouted until that little baby of mine got frightened and started to cry. Congrats shane and looking forward to at least three more on your debut.
Congratulations Shane! Great job!!!!!
Good to see people celebrate the success of their own neigbour, it does not happen too often in Dominica.
Shane…… performance is the key………Now that you have got there, continue to perform so you can stay there……….and dont let non cricket distractions get in you way………..
Congrats Shane. It was about time. ….up date; HE DID TAKE THE FIRST SOUTH AFRICAN WICKET TO FALL IN THAT FIRST TEST. This is a definite plus for him and for D/ca. Well done.
PROUD TO BE FROM DUBLANC. BRAVO. BRAVO SHANE.
Congrats to shilly on the debut and a fine first day… OH and DNO he not the only new face in the line up
lots of love …from newyork
dem paps just goona lose again
how do i see the video?
The community of Dublanc and by extension the island of Dominica have every reason to be celebrating. Not too often do we have a Dominican representing the West Indies and it seems every time that those who make it are from Dublanc, with the like of Irving Shillingford, Grayson Shillingford and Nobert Phillip. Now we have Shane. Boy you make us proud and Shane has already taken 2 of the first three South African Wickets.
I hope some day the sports authorities will name a stand in the Stadium after Shane. They did for Adam Sandford who made the West Indies but did not play for Dominica or Windward.
But we must also be proud of this small community of Dublanc that produce very good sporting personalities both nationally and regionally.
