World Cup football only on MARPIN!

If you’re a football fan, the only place to be from June 11th to July 11th, 2010 is on Marpin.  The company has secured exclusive rights for Dominica to air the 2010 FIFA World Cup taking place in South Africa.

Marpin’s Public Relations Representative says, “World Cup Football is the most watched sports event on the globe and Marpin is thrilled to be able to bring this tournament to our viewers.  This major event only comes around once every four years and we weren’t about to pass it up.  It’s Africa’s first World Cup and we know that a huge percentage of our customers are football fans so we wanted to ensure that they could witness this historic event.”

Customers will be able to watch all the 2010 World Cup matches live on Marpin’s Channel 13 and matches will be repeated for the benefit of the viewing public.  “Football is a universal sport and World Cup is FIFA’s flagship event so we don’t want viewers to miss out if they’re at work during the day. Most of the matches occur during working hours so we will be repeating the matches later in the day.  On the days that there are two matches, they will be repeated at 6:00 and 8:30 that same evening and when three matches take place on any one day, we’ll start the repeats from 4:00 p.m. so that customers won’t have to miss any part of the action,” Ms. Mora continued.  A highlights package showcasing the best action from all the games will also be featured from 11:00 p.m. on each match night.

The FIFA World Cup 2010 kicks off on June 11th with the Opening Ceremony at 8:10 a.m. followed by the first match of the tournament when host country South Africa will face Mexico at 10:00 a.m.  At 2:30 that same day Uruguay comes up against France and on June 12th, its Argentina vs. Nigeria, Korea Republic will play Greece, and England faces the USA.  Marpin’s viewers will enjoy ball by ball action for all 64 games scheduled over the month-long period of the World Cup.

….. to dam greedy in there…But one day they will want something from SAT. I Sure SAT gave them SOmething they needed already with no big problems. but some people only look for themselves. but we have to know that SAT is local. and Marpin is foreign. Marpin is for themselves only..

  4. June 11, 2010

…… are just money hungry fools they are only their to suck Dominicans dry trying to get rid of the competition in cable tv which is SAT telecoms. We need SAT to survive firstly because its a local company if any profit is being made it stays right here in Dominica and we need to get the best service from both companies which are affordable to the consumers, so Mr Walter get your act together and think about us the Dominicans and not just your pockets sir please……

Wat r u talking about? Marpin know that they r losing their customers to SAT. So they did boycott so they alone can bring the game. They so know they r getting good competition from SAT. SAT is “The People’s Choice” because on a normal occasion SAT does bring everything live compare to Marpin they play it days after. So please stop talking nonsense.

This is just utter Corporate Greed.

So what if SAT was carrying NBC on ordinary days, then they wouldn’t be able to carry NBC when World Cup showing?

Come on man, Dominica just too small for this kind of thing.

If I was SAT I would just dedicate a channel to NBC and let the chips fall where they may. Ofcourse, they do not have control over what NBC plays…do they?

This one time when the gov’t should intervene.

I don’t understand a sole cable provider getting exclusive rights. That makes no sense. That means there is a significant number of the Dominican viewing population who will be excluded from seeing the WC in the comfort of their own homes.

I personally believe the relevant Telecoms and Broadcasting authority should step in and insure that kind of thing don’t happen in the future. The FIFA WC is too major of an event…especially for us in this part of the world.

Marpin has World cup? So they can afford the rights to have World cup, but they are insistent on giving me a bunch of Spanish stations …..

You really stupid wi, ……. is a greedy company, sucking the country dry. If they really cared about Dominicans they would have sold rights to SAT more affordably. I sure SAT has sold rights to MARPIN in the past….. to badmind!!

I have Marpin but I find it a bad move for such an event. We are a small Country and Sat and Marpin should not be in competition over rights but instead share the rights and cost to Broadcast the most important sporting event in the world to all Dominicans. Shame on Marpin for thinking that they have accomplished something, the football fans with SAT should not be punished in such a way. This is brutal.

I would have to complement your good thinking! But with Competition comes price reduction.

we must stop talking about small country. Thats how it is, if sat does not have the money to pay to broadcast the games they will not be able to show football. Someone has to pay thats how it goes in this thing

What u r saying is true? I am one of the SAT’s customers. What about me that loves football. this is not right at all.

      • My point
        June 9, 2010

Stop complaining… If you want to watch football and have SAT switch to Marpin. The same way Marpin could pay for their rights to air the games so too could SAT. If SAT’s priority is to satisfy customers, they would be airing it also. From as much as I can remember SAT’s customer values have depreciated.

Give me a break with “The People’s Choice” …. The people choose them and they can’t give likable options on their television stations to choose from.
