Stabbing death in Woodford Hill

A Woodford Hill resident was killed in a stabbing incident which occurred in that village earlier today, Dominica News online (DNO) can confirm.

Parliamentary representative for the Wesley constituency, Ezekiel Bazil, has confirmed reports that two men were involved in a confrontation and one stabbed the other resulting in his death. He said one individual from the village is assisting the police with their investigations into the matter.

Bazil said he was attending a meeting in the community when he was informed of what he described as a “very unfortunate thing for the community” and said it is something that villagers of Woodford Hill would have preferred never to have happened either in their community or in any other part of Dominica.

He said this is a terrible tragedy for the families of both of the individuals involved in the incident.

“The family of the victim would obviously be mourning and be grieving and whichever individual maybe assisting the police and discussing with the police, their family would also be having a tough time,” Bazil stated. “So I extend my sympathies to the individuals and families involved in this matter.”

The Wesley MP said he hopes the situation will not escalate and will be quickly brought under control by law enforcement and that justice will prevail.

“I’m really saddened by the situation in the community,” Bazil lamented, “and will be meeting with the families ….to speak with them and to spend some time during the course of tomorrow and the days to come.”

DNO will follow this story and bring more information when it becomes available.

Modern day societies are usually concerned with crime committed by persons between the ages of 18-34 years old. Persons within that age group are usually less emotionally stable when compared to older adults. Usually, those who are gainfully employed, supporting families and who are able to participate fully into society are less likely to engage in criminal behavior. We cannot ignore high unemployment, lack of constructive activities to engage our young people and a regime that is obsessed with elections and power grabbing. Where are our community leaders and what is being done to remedy this paradigm shift for the worse.

I am one of those who understand and expect that there will always be criminally minded people in any society. However, for a country like ours where everybody in a community knows each other and most likely related why all the violence? It appears like killing and hurting each other has become a favorite pastime just to prove how bad one is. On the other hand, I would really love to hear from Chief Carbon what are the elements of his operational plans are in place to help combat the increase in violence.

Unemployment and underemployment drive a lot of these social ills but having a “feasible” written plan supported by well thought out execution techniques can circumvent a lot of these events. I understand that ALL police stations are currently understaffed but surprisingly we have a newly form Protective Services Unit solely to play mooseboy for the PM and his nincompoops. God help us all…lets keep praying for deliverance real soon.

Again, what programs are in place for our young men. It goes deeper than just finding them jobs. Our young men have psychological problems. today we see murder as passively as swatting away flies. they dont want to work, they are not motivated, most dont want to educate or improve their marketability as productive members. Most just want material things and want to be millionaires over night. their spirituality and knowledge of self is non-existent. We are in for a rude awakening in the next 15 – 20 years.

Articles like these are splashed across news papers in the he Caribbean very frequently. The weapon is a gun or knife in most cases.
I wonder if chemicals in the food, which we call GMOs are mainly response for this explosion of crime, resulting deaths. Whatever the answer, the youths seem to have a temperament that is short on compassion and long on evil.

This has nothing to do with food, it has to do mostly with the dysfunction in the homes and the decadence in the society. The home, which is the most important institution in any society, when it becomes morally depraved, the whole country is negatively impacted. Sad to say, most people have become desensitized to the frequency of these killings in Dominica. The school, the church, the home along with government agencies have to work closely together. We have to start with the young. You cannot bend a tree when it is fully grown.

Under the reign of the Skerrit regime Dominica has descended into a lawless state. Am I surprised? No I’m not, after all what’s good for the PM surely must be good for the citizens…!?

Though I do not support the present ruling regime of Skerrit, because of his ill-treatment of the country, can’t blame him of all those violence occurring now.
The enemy came to kill, steal and to destroy.
Families should always caution their loved ones on a regular basis.
Before the year ends again, there will be much more.
      Sympathy to the families….

…and the police is misused by Skerrit to protect his own interest rather than the interest of Dominica and its citizens.

Fellas, you all need to go back to the old school style of fighting – kick and punch, get out all the aggression aand then both of you all end up tired and bruised and can debate as to who won.

    Stop killing people over arguments.

Heart-felt sympathy to the victim’s family and friends. Dominica is now becoming a murderous place. Why does so many of these petty squabbles have to escalate in murder or serious bodily harm.? Our people have to find better ways to settle our disputes than to injure or kill. DNO, what’s the homicide count for this current year? Hoping that this one will be the last for this current year.

ADMIN: Based on our information ,so far, there have been four killings (with at least one other death under investigation) but we are seeking to confirm that information with the police. We will continue efforts to verify the official count from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

Thanks DNO for responding. Both management and staff are doing a commendable job. Keep up the good work. I would like to see more investigative journalism but I also know it is an expensive proposition. I would also appreciate objective editorials on pertinent issues that are affecting the country- good governance, lawlessness, constitutional & electoral reforms, the present economy, productivity in the public service, etcetera.

“very unfortunate thing for the community” and said it is something that villagers of Woodfordhill  would have preferred never to have happened either in their community or in other part of Dominica.”

The caption said Wesley: According to Ezekiel he emphasized Woodford Hill!

So, I ask where precisely the stabbing took place?

Did it take place in Wesley, or is it in the Village of Woodford Hill?

    Clarification is needed!

ADMIN: Thank you. We have since clarified it in the article.

Woodfordhill and Calibishie falls under the Wesley constituency unfortunately. Don’t ask me why. My Cousin from Woodfordhill was once the elected member of the UWP party and his constituency was Wesley.

Any who, I wish they publish the name of the victim. I would like to know who it is.

ADMIN: This information was published in the following article: https://dominicanewsonline.com/news/homepage/news/individuals-assisting-police-in-fatal-shooting-and-stabbing-incidents/

This is incorrect information as Calibishie is part of the Paix Bouche constituency. Please be certain before you all go out their with statements.
