STAY WELL & SPARKLE: Can Diabetes Be Cured?

Glucofingertip“Mama, how come your mout’ so long?” Little Pig asked innocently.

“Just wait till you grow up,”  Mama Pig answered, “and you’ll find out!”

Diabetes is like that. It may be a nuisance to keep up with and it doesn’t really hurt in the present. Not until the disease ‘grows up’ in a patient over the years do we find out the harvest of ill effects. Every now and again, we are shocked to hear of some young person having to go on dialysis, or of some dear middle-aged person getting a stroke or amputated. Instead of ‘acts of God’ coming out of nowhere, these are largely the direct consequences the things we do and don’t do.

Readers of the diabetes article a couple weeks aback know how deceitful and deadly it is. So much so, Dr. Max Pemberton is a British AIDS specialist compared exploding ravages of diabetes to advances made in his own field. He went as far as to declare: “I’d rather have HIV than Diabetes.” Our gut reaction is “What nonsense mister talking there, nuh!” But if you read the article, you have no choice but see where he is coming from.

You see; if diabetes were a contagious disease, health officials would be way more freaked out about it than Ebola. Yet long after that lethal virus has disappeared from the headlines, the specter of diabetes will continue to stalk the world at exponential speed. And Dominica is right up there, in the thick of things. That is why it was so gratifying to see all the people who came to check their HbA1C – the best indicator of whether we have diabetes or about to. Did you?

Some people have Type 1 diabetes where the pancreas, which produces insulin, is destroyed by some weird autoimmune condition. That’s a done deal over which we have little or no control other than taking insulin shots or pump or pancreas transplant. The majority of diabetics today have Types 2 disease, resulting from insulin resistance and overworked pancreas. That is treated with pills like Metformin and lifestyle changes. But can it be cured?

Fr. Franklyn Cuffy, Nurse Priscilla Prevost
Fr. Franklyn Cuffy, Nurse Priscilla Prevost

Government health promotion on a large scale does as good a job as it can. However, like witnessing for the gospel or canvassing for politics, the message is most effective one on one. Doctors can order all the tests and prescribe all the medicines, but it takes champions in NGO’s and civil society to smash the ball over the boundary. This was precisely the consensus of a big regional conference on non-communicable diseases this week at Fort Young Hotel. So let’s review how we go about taking down diabetes:

  1. Weight is the single most important contributing factor to Type 2 diabetes. Being overweight increases the risk seven fold. Obesity (BMI over 30) makes you 20 to 40 times more likely to develop diabetes than someone with a healthy weight. In this new era of fat acceptance, celebration of so-called ‘good size’ simply defeats the purpose.

A man with a waist over 40 inches is in deep trouble. No disrespect, the same applies for women with waists measuring more than 35. Evidence-based science says so. Don’t have a tape measure? Use a belt or string then a ruler. You can also use your height to check the health of your weight.

  1. TV /computers / video games: No age group is immune. The more one becomes a slave to modern technology, the more the pounds pile on. Statistics show that every two hours spent on these activities daily increases the risk of developing diabetes by 20 percent. While awake, every hour or two we need to get up and do something practical in the real world. A coach potato is either depressed, diabetes-prone, or both.
  1. Shun Sugary drinks, including the generally over-sweetened local fruit juices. Too much sugar is a poison. It is simply childish to regularly drink soft drinks. We take in as many calories from what we drink as from what we eat. To lose weight, drink more water. Coffee and tea are good choices if not spoiled with lots of cream and sugar. Since I published the dangers of sugar substitutes in 2007, many others have confirmed that. Artificial sweeteners help to some extent, but are definitely not the answer. Focus instead on increasing fruits and vegetables, provisions and high fiber cereals like oats.
  1. Avoid trans fats. Granted that is not at the top of the agenda in times of sewo like Creole Festival. However, for some lucky persons, that is precisely the time when they may be open to listening to a different tune. Trans fats are found in packaged baked goods and fried stuff from fast food restaurants. Take omega 3 and fish oil supplements. Avoid red meat in favor of fish or chicken. Frequently eating processed meats like bacon, ham, hotdogs, sausages, corned beef and canned stuff increases diabetes risk by 51%! Re-program your tastes. Do not just go with the flow of what is traditionally considered hearty eating.
  1. Dominica Diabetes Association. Listen to Fr. Cuffy a tireless promoter of the work of the association. He tells, for example, of how the addition of ginger has contributed impressively to his 30 years long control of the disease. Wherever you are, he encourages you to attend a Blue Breakfast and related activities on World Diabetes Day on November 14. (Not red/blue politics; think UN-sponsored, sky, universal).

Serious about diabetes prevention and cure? Plan to attend Nurse Prevost’s unique weekend retreat at Portsmouth. The guiding principle is based on III John:3: “I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers.” Her vast experience and success nationally and regionally is not based on magical healing, but patient, practical, step-by-step instructions on needed lifestyle changes. Book your reservation by calling 245-6373. You will be so glad you did.

Bottom line, we need to strip off the hysteria and honestly look at the numbers. As we speak, understand that diabetes is killing multiplied millions more than AIDS and Ebola combined. What we ate today, and ‘these Thy gifts which are about to receive,’ will either take us one step closer or away from that diagnosis.

Indeed, Mama Pig is right. We will soon find out. Diabetes is an enemy coming in like the flood. It is my job to stop it – Nurse Prevost’s, Fr. Cuffy’s and yours too, by the way.

You “The Facts” want to compete with me, you think you smart; try this read the complete contents, and tell me what you find wrong, a fable. You introduce high blood pressure into the conversation am about tot tear you apart. I am sure Sam is not going to help you this either.

    Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!

Major Causes Of Hypertension: 1. Essential hypertension: at lease 90% of all causes of hypertension
    2. Secondary hypertension
    a. Renal
    i Renal artery stenosis
    ii Renal parenchymal
    iii Renal-producing tumors
    b. Adrenal
    i. Primary hyperaldosteronism (Conn’s syndrome, idiopathic)
    ii. Cushing’s syndrome
    iii. Pheochromocytoma
    c. Cardiovascular: coarctation of the aorata
    d. Use of oral contraceptives, steroids, or amphetamines
    Initial Evaluation
Hypertension is diagnosed when two separate measurements of persons blood pressure exceeds values associated with a 50% increase in mortality. For men younger than 45, this value is 130/90 for men older than 45 this value is 140/95; in regards to women of all ages this value is 160/95, all patients with newly diagnosed hypertension should receive the following limited initial workup (as a minimum): 1. History
    a. Family history of hypertension?
    b. Age of onset?
    c. Use of Salt? Dietary habits?
    d. Exercise?
    e. History of heart disease, lipid disorder, diabetes, gout, or renal disorder?
    f. Symptoms of Pheochromocytoma, or hyperthyroidism?
    g. Use of agents associated with hypertension (steroids, hormones, adrenergic stimulants)?
    2. Physical Exam
    a. Look for clues to etiology(obesity? asymmetric pulses stigmata of chronic renal insuffiency? hyperthyroidism or Cushing’s syndrome?)
    b. Evaluate evidence of end organ damage (hypertensive retinopathy? cardiomyopathy or congestive failure? signs of renal insufficiency?)
    3. Laboratory evaluation
    a. Serum electrolytes.
    b. Serum creatinine and Bun
    c. Urinalysis
    d. ECG.
    e. Chest x-ray
A fasting blood sugar, and serum lipids may also prove helpful; if there are no findings in the history, physical exam, or laboratory studies to suggest a possible cause of hypertension i.e., onset of severe hypertension in young patient without family history, sudden onset of severe hypertension in older patient, hypertension associated with symptoms suggestive of renal, or adrenal disease), one can initiate therapy assuming the diagnosis of essential hypertension. If therapy is unsuccessful, or if there are positive features in the initial workup, a more comprehensive workup required.

Now there are two lady doctors who like to run off their mouth, fake The Facts in particular, I want you to write an essay, detailing ever error or misinformation in the above, I know you are going to say, he has question marks where they do not belong, Rule that out okay because they legitimately belong where they are! Tell me what I am talking about here or shut up forever, and you will not find this on goggle or you web sites which are your universities. The same thing applies to Satan Mama.

“Diabetes damage genes, how can someone repair damage genes?”(FET).

Let me clarify this; I intended to say ‘diabetes is caused by damage gene, how can someone repair a damage gene.’

In addition to that some medical researchers believe that a virus could be the cause, I however; do believe a damage gene might be the cause, since we know that it is a heredity disease, which usually runs throw generations, sometimes skipping even five generations, but eventually it attacks another generation okay, as far as I know my grandmother, lived yo be a hundred and three years old. My mother did not get it until she was in her late seventies. Now my lone surviving siblings by my mother, 80 years old is diabetic, my sister who died last year, went to bed one night , and did not wake the next morning.

She was a chronic diabetic: as far as I know at least three of her children has diabetes, and grandchildren are affected also Nevertheless, my 80 year old sister, who is diabetic,, not a single one of her children, nor grandchildren have the disease.

I mean I believe in divine healing also, and I have more reasons than one. When I was a kid I was always ill, I am giving an account about that in my book, I am one person who could not eat anything prior to 12 or 1: 00 PM each day, if I did I would spend the rest of the day disgorging what I eat, my elementary education was interrupted, sometimes I could not attend school for almost a year at a time. My grandmother took me to the doctor, who informed her “the boy will either overcome his illness or he will die, but we have no medication in the hospital to treat him”.

When I heard that I went home and prayed to God, I told him that I am just a kid, and I am asking him to allow me to become a full grown man; I would like to experience what it is to be a man; needless to say I am alive, and have lived a full life, I experience what been a man is all about. I have nothing against divine healing, but God have given doctors the knowledge of how to help prolong life, one must remember that Luke, the disciple of Jesus was a medical doctor by profession, and not forgetting in Jesus day on earth, there were sick people walking around.

What did Jesus say when someone ask him, who sin why someone was sick the answer was no one, but what did he say about the work God might be……………… somebody can look it up; that’s not a direct quote.

Regarding the use of Root Ginger, or simply Ginger as it is referred to in Dominica, the only purpose Ginger serve is that it helps with circulation in the lower extremities. As matter of fact there is a chemical in ginger which helps with poor circulation, and in general appendages

Some people claim cinnamon Spice simply called spice in Dominica, claim it is a cure for diabetes, if anything it enhances the volume of glucose in the diabetic system. Persons who are hypoglycemic, that may serve a useful purpose, however, those of us who are hyperglycemic indulging in spice tea, may hasten our death.

On the other hand patients who by reason of complication of the disease which will, and in most cases affect the heart and kidneys should be careful of indulging in the use of ginger, since those who have developed arterial fibrillation; is at risk for a stroke, now there is a chemical in ginger which stimulates arterial fibrillation, especially if the problem is not cause by a defective heart valve.

There are also other type of arrhythmia in diabetics which ginger may stimulate!

Alcohol does the same thing, many of us are aware that wine is produced from Ginger also, by fermentation; we know for a fact that people suffering from diabetes, can appear to be under the influence of alcohol and could not pass a breathalyzer test. That is due to the fermentation of certain food we eat which ferments into alcohol in our body which produces no insulin to neutralize the sugar in our system, ginger is one of the culprit.

I can prove that, and have proved it! To each his own, anyway; what works for one person may not work the same for others. However, unless we can prove something scientifically, by doing some research and prove our hypothesis, an off the wall theory of someone may not be correct, advocating something that could cause more damage than good!

My mom blood sugar is always high, between the range 240-280. What local bush or product can be used to bring this sugar down….she have tried spice already. It doesn’t appear to be so effective…..any recommendations?

    • Francisco Telemaque
      October 27, 2014

As I said the best alternative is to go get her to a doctor who will examine her and then do the right thing by prescribing insulin for her. Trust me she can drink all the recommended bush tea in Dominica, all that will do is hasten her trip to the grave.

If in fact her blood sugar ranges between 240 mg, and 280 mg chances are she could go into coma, die, here is the reason, when one measures blood glucose on a meter by doing a finger stick, the blood utilized is actually surface blood, but you do a blood analysis extracting blood from the arm, or some other place you will find that the ratio is much higher.

In the case of your mother, I a am sure her hemoglobin A1c is over 12, a person reading 7, or 8, is actually walking around with more than 300 mg or more glucose in their system on a daily basis, soon her kidney’s will be come affected, and ultimately fail. If there is an endocrinologist operating in Dominica I advice you to take your mother to him/her and get her properly treated, because not only her kidney’s will fail, she is subject to develop heart problems, and that could lead to blindness.

Not only that with that volume of glucose in her system, that will cause increase urination, putting pressure, on her urinary tract, causing plenty of damage, if memory serves me correctly, the bladder can only accommodate 300 ml of urine, beyond that continuously for a long period will result in a lot of damage.

Remember, glucose is sugar, hence all of the body fluids go towards the sugar, which must be passed out via urination, unless that is controlled the one with that level of sugar in their system urinate too frequently, thus draining their body fluids, and they will always be thirsty, you could not supply enough water, they exist on the edge of dehydration.

    • The Facts
      October 27, 2014

I assume that your mom has high blood pressure and expect that she visits her doctor for tests and medical advice.
You have a computer. You can Google the information. There are doctors and other health Websites that provide this information.
She must avoid a lot of salt or refrain from salt. This includes sugar.
As Dr. Christian also stated, drink ample amount of water. The recommended amount is between 6 to 8 glasses per day; small or medium size.
Worries, anger, stress and lack of sleep or not enough sleep could probably increase this level.

    • Francisco Telemaque
      October 29, 2014

Now look at how dumb, and stupid you are!

“The Facts’; the person said “my mom blood sugar is always between the range of 240-280:” I am 100% sure the individual is talking about the contents of glucose in his/her mother blood. That means on a daily basics she lives with approximately 280 mg of sugar in the blood. The normal range in a persons who are healthy without diabetes blood sugar should be between 80 and 125 mg., plus or minus 5 mg, in that case it should not exceed 125 mg., nor should it fall below 75 mg. When someone with diabetes eats a meal, their glucose level will rise, however, it is suggested the person should try and not get an increase higher than 167 mg. or there about, it is difficult to do but not impossible, one can only accomplish that by maintaining a balance diet, and eat in small quantities too: So the idea is the diabetic should eat often; however, in small amounts.

Living with such high levels of glucose in any individual, untreated that person will suffer all types of diabetes complications.

I know that fools like you like to goggle and believe you know what the heck you talking about. The person said blood sugar, but here you playing smart when you are nothing more than an uneducated idiot, who believes a computer can educate you talking crap about blood pressure. I have news for you a computer will never be able to educate a fool who cannot understand the difference of diabetes and high or low blood pressure. Your advise to the person about blood pressure, is nothing more than decaying garbage!

Tell me doctor facts; what does Hypertension, or Hypotension has to do with diabetes, wether the conversation revolves around hypoglycemia, or hyperglycemia?

I know what you are doing; you have done that before, you think that I just pull things out of the sky and write crap on DNO, I am here to inform you that my knowledge I obtained from my academic accomplishments, which I obtained through college, and university, my comments are text book written (Text Books Metrial), try as you may you will forever be beneath me, academically unless you decide to educated yourself in the field that I am educated.

I do not goggle for health science information, I got my education out of academic institutions okay. What you doing another Dominica woman has done the same thing; she read my comments one time on DNO, and concluded more than half the words I wrote were spelt wrong. the idiot did realize, that if I am into science; medical science, the terminologies I will use relating to the subject usually will not be found in a Webster Dictionary, for that matter one would have to know medicine to understand my language, or look up the term in a medical dictionary.

You do no understand one bit of what Dr. Sam has conveyed, nor anything I conveyed as simple as I try to make it. Shut up, just shut you mouth because you do not know what the hell you are talking about, anything I wrote concerning diabetes and hemoglobin A1c, I do not believe you can find a medically trained doctor on this planet who can refute my comments; unless they are going to refute it with a new theory. I stake my very life on that!

I major in health science, I do not have a medical degree, but hell, I am sure I can save you damn life with the medical knowledge if the occasion and circumstance ever arived!

In order for me to conclude my last submission; I must do a review on the my previous comments okay: So, we know that diabetes is a condition in which individuals are unable to obtain glucose from their blood because they either lack insulin (Type I) or have an abnormally low number of insulin receptors (Type II). It is a serious disease and can fatal if untreated.

Scientifically, and medically we now know that the islets of Langerhans in the pancreas produce two hormones that interact to govern the levels of glucose in the blood; insulin, and glucagon. Insulin is a storage hormone, designed to put away nutrients for leaner times. It promotes the accumulation of glycogen in the liver, and triglycerides in fat cells When people eat, beta cells in the islets of Langerhans secrete insulin, storing away glucose to be used later. Later, when body activity causes the level of glucose in the blood to fall as it is used up as fuel, other cells in the islets of Langerhans called alpha cells secrete glucagon, which causes liver cells to release stored glucose and fat cells to break down triglycerides; the two hormones thus work together to keep glucose levels in the blood within narrow bonds. Actually the amount of glucose in a healthy individual should range between 80 mg and a 125 mg plus or minus 5 mg, this means it should not fall below 75 mg, nor should it exceed 130 mg. I will not go into hypoglycemia, and hyperglycemia because that is where it is leading right now.

Now if the islets of Langerhans are blocked, that means that insulin cannot be realest, hence we become diabetics, so what’s the best treatment? A regimen of insulin prescribe by a medical doctor, and I would much prefer someone in the practice of endocrinology to treat anyone suffering from diabetes.

Hemoglobin is an allosteric protein found in erythrocytes that transport molecular oxygen (O2), in the blood; and that O2 should be written in subscript form. Each hemoglobin molecule is a tetramer composed of four monomers held together by weak bonds, I will not focus on that since our concern at the moment is hemoglobin: A1c, hemoglobin A with a glucose moiety attached to the amino terminal valine of the beta chain. This type of hemoglobin is made at a slow constant rate during the 120-day life span of the erythrocyte. It accounts for 3 to 6% of the total hemoglobin in a normal person and up to 12% in persons with diabetes mellitus. Increased levels of hemoglobin A1c correlate with glucose intolerance in diabetics; good diabetic control the hemoglobin A1c level returns to normal range. periodic A1c assays can be helpful in evaluating effective control of diabetes mellitus. I am going to say something that most people will not like to hear, but anybody who believe they can cure diabetes by simply diet, and exercise they are in denial. and setting a very dangerous precedence. I personally took just about every sulfonylurea class of medication, which worked for a short period until my body rejected them all In addition to the medication, I walked twice per day covering 21 miles, my glucose would drop to 80 mg within an hour, it be more than 200 mg., and by the way if the hemoglobin is under control and Cholesterol and triglycerides are out of control, the diabetic is still going to die. the sooner one start using insulin, the better their chances of survival.

And to those who wish to challenge me, that you will not find on the Internet, I learned that from Health Science, I do have a medical degree, but I learnt enough.

“Diabetes, if diagnosed in the early stages could be eradicated. If at a later stage, it could be stabilized and/or also be healed.”

You see, it is one thing for someone to try to be informative, as Sam has done, but what bothers me the most is when people who are not properly informed on the subject start blowing off steam as if they are an authority on the subject, as in the quote above. Diabetes mellitus will never be eradicated as some believe, unless a definite cure is found since it’s an heredity disease in 99.9999% of known cases. Diabetes a damage genes, how can someone repair a damage genes? Some medical study indicate it may be cause by some viral, I am not getting into that as yet.

    The Pancreas: The Body’s Dietitian

The pancreas gland is located behind the stomach, and is connected to the front end of the small intestine by a small tube. It secretes a variety of digestive enzymes into the gut through this tube, and for a long time was thought to be solely an endocrine gland. In 1869, however, a German medical student named Paul Langerhans described some unusual clusters of cells scattered throughout the pancreas. At the end of that century doctors had begun to notice that patients with injuries to the pancreas often develop diabetes mellitus, a common, and serious disorder in which the affected individuals developed elevated levels of glucose in the blood. ‘We’ are unable to take up glucose from the blood, even though the level of blood glucose is high. In Type I diabetes mellitus, insulin secretion is abnormally low. In Type II diabetes mellitus, there is an abnormally low number of insulin receptors on the target tissue, but the level of insulin is normal in the blood.

Such individuals such as yours truly, could literally starve; many of us lose weight, and may eventually suffer brain damage, and even death, if our condition goes untreated. In 1893 it was suggested that the clusters of cells in the pancreas, which came to be called islets of Langerhans, produced something that prevented diabetes mellitus. The substance, which we now know to be the peptide hormone insulin, was not isolated until 1922, when two young doctors working in a Toronto hospital succeeded where many others had not. On the 11th day of January, 1922, they injected an extract purified from beef pancreas glands into a 13-year old boy, a diabetic whose weight had fallen to 65 pounds, and who was not expected to survive. The hospital record note gives no indication of the historic importance of the trial, only stating “15 cc of MacLeod’s serum. 71/2 cc into each buttock.” With this single injection, the glucose level in the boy’s blood fell 25%. A more potent extract soon brought levels down to near normal.

This was the first instance of successful insulin therapy. Today case of diabetes can be treated by supplying insulin to the affected individual daily; others are treated by a combination of exercise and diet Active research on the possibility, or shall I bring it closer by the probability of transplanting islets of Langerhans holds much promise of a lasting treatment for diabetes. This is not complete, therefore I shall return with another brief.

Dr. Christian, Fr. Cuffy, and Nurse Prevost:

I want to THANK you for your contributions to the battle against Diabetes.

I am a 72 yr old white Canadian who suffers from type 2 diabetes. I am currently taking Metformin and desperately fighting to keep off the needle. Both the scriptures and experience tell me God heals and I am a believer. Prayer is one of God’s delivery systems. But we need to use common sense and apply the knowledge that is available by living a lifestyle that is conductive to healing and health.

Not enough could be said in praise of those who are providing this knowledge. I for one am listening.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist.

      @Rev. Donald Hill October 27, 2014

You have said it to Dr. Christian on my behalf. Our belief–yours and mine–is in healing by faith and prayer is in harmony; even if we do not just sit down and wait for prayer and faith to work through us like a magic wand

As for me, I know that God, the Lord, is the One doing His work of Life by the Power of Holy Spirit, through His mediums on Earth–be they nurse, doctor, teacher, social worker, pastor, and preacher–I have learned to pay attention to whom He is guiding me to, unless He is using my own faith, for the sake of Life in me and my people.

I have diabetes as well, since 17 years ago,–1997– the truth is that I neglected God attention and guidance quite some, during those years–but because of His mercy and compassion; I can still say that I am on my way to complete healing all in all.

Up to last year, I was using metformin and glyburide–but my body had stopped responding to them; my blood sugar was critically high.

Thanks to God, my doctor sent me to a specialist who gave me two new medicines –Janumet and Diamicron MR.–I take 2 of each on a daily baisis; my family doctor cut out Metformin and Glyburide completely.

Since from that time my blood sugar returned to nothing higher than mild, which is 7 or lower, according to our Canadian Meter–I hope you know what I am saying.

The last time I saw my doctor, which was 4 weeks ago, she said that she was very pleased with my blood work, my blood sugar remains under control; I am very careful with my eating habit –what more can I ask for, from God.

He is my all in all. and by the Stripes of His Person in flesh and bones–His name is Jesus Christ–I am on my way to complete healing–ain’t no sickness or disease going to take me to the grave, if at all I must go there.

      • October 29, 2014

Bless you Liz for sharing the testimony of your real life experiences!

        Please think about this.

You have diabetes. But diabetes does NOT have you! You are LIVING with diabetes. You are a witness to the grace and power of God as you live ABOVE and BEYOND this disease.

“…in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.” (Romans 8:37)

When the trumpet sounds we shall have a body “…fashioned like unto his glorious body, …” (Philippians 3:21) and “…we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.” (1 John 3:2)

At that moment our healing will be complete! :-P

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist.

      • October 30, 2014

Amen to that Reverend Hill. I know for sure that we (you and I) are in harmony pertaining to God and Life (Life in Spirit Truth and Holiness) I will continue to speak the words of Jesus, Himself: “The flesh profits nothing!” John 6: 63

I just love God’s Word in the Holy Bible, but there are those which really captivate my mind, such as those two from the apostle Paul at 1st. Corinthians 15:54

“So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory” Praise God, our Lord in Jesus Christ.

Paul said it better still, at 2nd Corinthians 5: 4-5

“For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by Life. Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee” Amen again!

Let us continue to do the work of Evangelism, as God has called us to do so–but most of all for His glory; not honors and merits for ourselves. Blessings:

I have said to myself that I must visit your site, but time has not yet allowed me to do so; however I like it when I see your input here–on DNO; thanks to News Articles like that of Dr. Sam Christian. And so let us allow ourselves to continue to thrive in harmony–through our knowledge of God, the Father in Jesus the Son.

Thanks for this educational article which make a lot of sense as a nurse I come across a lot of diabetes denial suffers. In the US today steps are being put in place to educate the population against fast foods and sodas it is so convenient to go to the drive through. Also eating some kind of green leafy foods 2 to 3 times a week helps. Gone are the days when parents cooked a fresh meal every day and children looked forward to going home for lunch.

Excellent article. I hope it is heeded. I love reading about health matters.
Diabetes, if diagnosed in the early stages could be eradicated. If at a later stage, it could be stabilized and/or also be healed.
As a doctor, you are correct. It is what we eat and drink. What goes into the body which could cause this illness.
How many people take a Detox cleanser, to cleanse the body, the bloodstream and the liver, etc? For years many people may never have taken one and as adults. This could also be a contributing factor to having cancer and other illnesses other than diabetes. They could consult you or their family physician about this.
I heard a doctor on a TV US Station, WNED – PBS state, the body is filled with inflammation. He also said prior to undergoing an operation, patients should take an inner body cleansing – detox. This does not mean a harsh one but one sufficient to body-cleanse.
Leafy green vegetables are excellent. Lettuce and cabbage, tomatoes, cucumber, green and red peppers – various colored ones. These contain water and cleansing elements. We are advised to put more color into our body as those vegetables. I am adding, whatever our color. :)
Carrots – carotene is also good. They all contain Vitamins. These contain water and cleansing elements.
How many people eat a salad, be it a small one prior to their lunch/dinner? Breakfast, lunch and dinner do not have to big and heavy ones. After eating them, we could eat fruits to help us feel satisfied.
Fresh herbs as basil, parsley, etc. are essential. A cup of tea could also be taken. I know parsley is excellent. It is a cleanser.
Cleansing should not be frequent. Everything should be taken in moderation. We are always informed to consult our doctor should one have an ailment.
Those who have computers could access the health benefits of these and more. Make use of your computers, the Internet fruitfully. They can learn a lot about health matters.
I read that Splenda, the sweetener is no longer highly recommended. Stevia is highly recommended. Due to this, I bought a box of Stevia some months ago and I have yet to take it. I still like a teaspoon of especially brown sugar (Demerara) with coffee and cereal and honey for tea as herb tea. :)
Thank you, Dr. Christian for your educating article. May it assist every Dominican worldwide who reads it. God bless!

      THE FACTS:

Thank you for your common sense comment on the current DIABETES article by Dr. Christian. I am a victim of type 2. You have provided valuable additional information.. Often we could help ourselves if we would only put into practice the information that is available.

I am an evangelist who believes God is a healer. Prayer is one of His delivery systems. I have seem people healed in my services. This is an “evidence based” ministry, not fanaticism. We should not expect a “miracle” if we break the health laws, and don’t follow a proper diet. You have filled in some of the gaps. This is information I need.

It seems many people have to hear the facts again and again before they wake up and start practicing them. That is why it is necessary for people like yourself who are knowledgeable in a particular field to keep sharing the facts. Don’t be afraid of repetition. In the end you will have done a great deal of good.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist.

Thank you Dr. Hill. I believe some of my information is also hereditary and of course reading and hearing about health matters on the Internet, TV and Radio. Some of it may be due to enlightenment and maturity. It is one of my traits or shall I say, I love to give good advice and counseling especially if the opportunity presents itself. :) Thanks be to God, I never miss a moment to do so.
There are times those who know me laugh amicably, if they are in my presence and I give some sort of advice.
During lunchtime, a co-worker once informed me she is tired. My prompt reply was take Vitamin E. Another one said laughingly, “I knew you would say that.” We had a good laugh.
We know the health benefits of Vitamin E which we also get in foods. I am ever so happy to offer good advice. If we know, we are obligated to pass on such information as each one reaches one. I always say we are not always in the same place, at the same time. Therefore, we must do our utmost to assist others whenever we can. God blesses and graces us for genuinely caring and sharing and taking the time to do so.
We may not always agree on certain matters. It is to be expected. However, we must love others and help them as much as we possibly could. God expects that.
God heals but we must also ask him with confidence. There are some people who may feel, well, I am older and I may (will) not be healed. I state, this is a wrong attitude. God heals at any age, if it is his will.
Our Lord said, “Ask and you shall receive.” I also recall Our Lord’s parable about the man who kept knocking at a friend’s door for bread. Finally, the man gave him the bread. God wants us to ask and ask over and over again and never fail. Although He knows what we want, our loving God loves us to ask in prayer. :) When He is good and ready He will do whatever He wills. We surely cannot force his hands. This is my faith, hope and trust in God. Thanks be to God!
        God’s blessing.

      Miss/Mr/ and et. al.

This is in response to your sarcasms in which you say I am the devil himself, and where you attack my lifestyle! I know that this comment should not be here, but I hope it will be accepted so that you and another person who’s name I shall not call except to say they also reside in Canada: a young soucooyant, can realize I saw on DNO Facebook, after someone drew it to my attention; where you and the devils mother that young soucooyant had plenty to say about me.

      Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!

You know I fell sorry you; the facts, in lower case letters; you believe in pope, and his homosexual acolytes, I believe in God Jehovah, and Jesus Christ. So, which of the two of us stand a better chance to be dammed in hell. As for my lifestyle, I invite you to come to see.

Talking crap about me as if you know me personally does not help. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder; you know why I use my true name on DNO, it is because I have nothing to hide, when Dominicans residing in Los Angeles, meet me for the first time they identify me; when I travel across the United States and Canada, Dominicans when they cross path with the kid recognized me without introduction; I arrange it that way you see, I do not hide, what we hide from man cannot be hidden from God.

My dependency is on him, not a fake; the facts, the devils mama, the young soucooyant; I hope you will see this note. You fake the facts in Canada hiding that is why you have no name, when I travel I have Dominica written all over me, that is because I am happy with my self, and although I do not want to emphasize, a proud Dominican, since the Bible warns of proudness I think in Proverbs, I do not wish to associate proud in this context.

What is your name The Facts: of all the fictitious, and aliases you write under on DNO, I challenge you to disclose your name the name your parent gave you at birth, You can’t, I know that for a fact because you are hiding from something perhaps criminal!

As for the yellow young soucooyant, when I visited with you, when you looked out you window you had no difficulties recognizing me, you flew down stairs like a bird to meet me, I regret that visit, since you turned out to be the devils mama!

      Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!

      I am!
