Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) along with the Dominica Hotel and Tourism Association, Ministry of Tourism, and other industry partners observe Tourism Awareness Month annually in May.
This celebration, held under the banner “Tourism is everybody’s business, let’s play our part”, includes various activities aimed not only at celebrating tourism, but informing and educating the Dominican population about our tourism product.
A major activity forming part of Tourism Awareness Month 2012 is the Tourism Industry Recognition Awards. This year Discover Dominica Authority will be presenting recognition awards in the following categories:
– Accommodation of the Year* †
– Industry Employee of the Year
– Tour Operator of the Year* †
– Tour Guide of the Year*
– Tourism Vendor of the Year*
– Tourism Taxi Service Provider of the Year*
– Vehicle Rental Company of the Year* †
– Community Tourism Development
– Responsible Tourism
*: Only certified providers are eligible †: Nominations will only be accepted online.
Forms and criteria are available online at: http://www.dominica.dm/index.php/tourism-month and from the Discover Dominica Authority Office at the Financial Centre, Visitor Information Offices at the Bay Front and the Melville Hall Airport and the DHTA Office on Castle Street.
The Annual Tourism Industry Recognition Awards serve as a forum to honour those individuals, companies, and organizations that have demonstrated commitment to the development of tourism in Dominica. The general public is invited to submit nominations for the various award categories.
The closing date for receipt of nominations is Friday March 30, 2012. Awards will be presented during the Tourism Awareness Month Opening Ceremony on Monday April 30, 2012.
