Dominica will be featured in the French version of the “Guardians of Nature” documentary in 2012.
A two member film crew will be in Dominica from November 6 – 17, 2011 to cover various aspects of the country’s natural beauty and wildlife for the television documentary.
The crew will work closely with officers of the Forestry, Wildlife and National Parks Division, and the Dominica Sea Turtle Conversation Association. Some of the main elements to be featured in the documentary are the Sisserou and Jaco parrots, Mountain Chicken, Forests and Sea Turtles.
The 50 – minutes show is broadcast on over 20 television stations worldwide including Guadeloupe and on Air France with over 2 million viewers.
Meanwhile Dominica captured two awards at the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) “Host & Reward the Media” ceremony on November 7th. DDA hosted two press trips earlier this year with the journalists producing articles on their trips in Dominica.
The awards were – Best Consumer Feature in Wanderlust Magazine by journalist Mark Stratton entitled ‘Green for Go’ and the award for – Best National Newspaper Feature in the Daily Telegraph by Uzu Bennett entitled ‘How I Hiked up & down Dominica and Survived.’
