Editors note: The following article was published in the travel section of International Business Times, a travel site based in Australia. The site is read by millions around the world and shows that Dominica’s natural resources are gaining international attention.
On most Caribbean islands, the focus of your travels remains on the exterior. You visit the port cities and the beaches to sunbathe, swim, snorkel, and laze. This is not so on Dominica. The truly unique beauty of Dominica lies not on its coasts, but in its dense, tropical interior.
There is no better spot to capitalize on Dominica’s thick rainforests, cool rivers, and abundant geothermal activity than Wotton Waven. Lying in the Roseau Valley, a short 4 mile, 20 min drive or bus ride from the capital, Wotton Waven is a nature lover’s leafy paradise.
when i used to be in the capital, and tourist would ask me where they could go, one of the places i sent them, was screws, and i do not recall one person coming back and being negative, everyone loved, it, how could you not.
Dominica has so many natural beautiful wonders, which should be advertised better to tourist, i always thought Dominica would be a marvellous place for a rehabilitation center, for people recovering from illness, like cancer and extreme surgery. dominica has so much to offer it really is the nature island, with its beautiful fresh innvigorating rivers, natural hot water, and also the amount of healing mud, and sulphur.
I do not think any one ever leaves dominica without feeling healed or relaxed, physically and mentally, i know i have never felt the same physically since i came back to the UK, i long to bath in the sea and the river, and the i miss the hot water sssoooooooo much!
so tell me donna diva why you close your health place dere why you leave dominica. why didnt you start de tings you talking bout
Hey outrage, well the answer to your question is quiet complicated and of a personnel nature, if i could still be in Dominica with my spa at the Garraway I would be, but sadly my situation changed, and some times Dominica can be a little bit to political, which can of course change your circumstances, not that i am political at all, or have any political prefrence.
I miss Dominica very much, and if i ever win the lotto here in the uk, we would be straight back to DA
in a heart beat, and of course i would open a health spa and a recovery health resort, and prehaps a night club called blonids or funky divas, and a few little toddlers play groups called, little dudes and divas, lol, i better win a lot, lol
Hope that answers your question.xx
I wonder why International Business Times is the magazine that decided to spotlight dominica’s geothermal energy??? I hope that don’t make greedy business disguised as “investors” come to our shores and “kyonneh” our P.M. into selling Wotten Waven..
true. Be vigilant.Be very vigilant. The youth, the children of the soil must have something to call their own. Be vigilant.
well de chinese already doing dat, if some business people want to come and build health retreat then why not, at least prehaps some dominicans would get jobs, unlike de chinese who just employ der own, and it will be natural, unlike de mess dose people making
Sometimes I wonder why it is that the DLP administration take the deceitful route when we really do have a one party system in Dominica. A few months ago everything was going well in Dominica as stated by the PM. Today we are being told that government have no control over the gloom and doom.
I am no expert but how dumb it is to believe that a state with a failed agriculture sector, an underperforming tourism sector and an ulmost non capital working mechanism, be performing particularly during a global melt down. 18 months ago the PM bragged about our generosity toward Anguilla and Antigua and today we have nothing to show.
The behavior of the DLP administration within the last five years is remarkable and worthy of ridicule and maybe jail time for some of these unscrupulous politicians in government. The attitude and behavior of those in government are like those the usual ghetto like stories where an ignorant ghetto person stumble upon some money and was totally overwhelmed by the occurrence. Unable to manage and invest the newly found fortune, the money went down the drain.
Never in the history of Dominica had we been exposed to so much money. Be it fron the Chinese , Venezuelans or otherwise. The only thing that we have to show are a few pink houses, a stadium, a disastrous rehabilitation of the airport , the ongoing rehabilitation of the west coast road and a RED Clinic program or impromptu wealth faresystem..
As for the people we have nothing to brag about but the remnants of a few election bribes.
Lovely Dominica, land where the rivers flow, everywhere you go, wouldn’t come and stay a while, in beautiful Dominica. I would like to be a resident, the Governor won’t give me consent, it’s really grieving, to leave your country, so I will play you this socca, just to remember, “Dominica tabong”.
Doing DDA job for them eh? What a shame.
why is it a shame. Those little sports are doing good
dominica must make it. i am just giving it time. other countries do not have what we have, the problem is the comfort of travel both to and through the island, thats all. if we make travel easy and get better roads, not bigger, just better, then we good to go. so i say, we need an air dominica, with bigger planes, 24/7. not 747s, just big enough to fell comfi and eliminate the irregular, could care less factor of the current companies landing in dominica
We must make it, you’re right. Sadly though the visitors will never cherish our nature as we do, so we are only ensuring the disaster of all that makes us Dominica if we are not careful.
The truth; I completely agree with your argument. We’ve the most beautiful Island in the caribbean. Getting there’s just taking too long. I know it’s not easy and we’ve to start from the bottom up, but it seems that the start is in the middle. Of course other countries don’t have what we have. The only problem I see with travel is the transfer in PR or neighboring Islands and high fares causing people to not travel. I heard of the night landings, I hope it works out to translate into more revenue. We definitely need better roads, more lighting, and street signs. If at all possible, AIR DOMINICA would be a PLUS with the capability to travel to and from FLL/MIA. You’d be surprised how many people would go home, including me (more often). I agree if we had our own airline our beautiful Island would be on top of the travel map. With an AIR DOMINICA in place we would eliminate the irregular, could care less factor of the current companies landing in Dominica. Except I rather the name “AIR ITASSI” “ITASSI” or even “WITIKUBULI” than Air Dominica. Like “NATURE ISLAND AIR” too.
sorry not under this corrupted DLP regime…are you foolish dont you see whats happening…
Am I foolish? From someone who is bringing politics into a comment that was politic free and an article that has nothing to do with poltics? If you do agree with my commen then that’s great. But I think you’re the one showing your moronic behavior with that statement
Thank you the truth for putting that idiot in his or her place.
why should politics involve in this?
Air Dominica would be an incompetent Airline, the fares would be too high, the pilots would not be top notch as LIAT Pilots and the customer service would be dreary. I think you need to stop talking BS. Criticising and doing are two different things, and you will see what i’m talking about.
Government of Dominica would not be able to maintain that. Sorry but i rather fly on LIAT or American Eagle.
this is ti kwen glo chow………..n thats an up to date pic. All of em have different features
This isn’t Screws – it is Ti Glo Gwen Cho…..
Good vibes! But it would have been better if they had posted some up-to-date pictures of the facilities – Screws. It may be useful to forward fresh pictures with narratives to the editor.
