Fort Young Hotel completes upgrade

Fort Young's reception area

After two months of ongoing works and EC$1.5 million, the Fort Young Hotel announces the completion of its renovations and is ready to showcase a multitude of upgrades designed to enhance guest satisfaction.

This recent renovation of the hotel provides visitors with a greater level of comfort and enjoyment.

Upon arrival to the hotel, guests will immediately notice the new entrance and reception which now boasts a new sitting area and lending library.  The standard and fort rooms (original 31 rooms) have been redesigned and have been outfitted with new furnishings and fittings.  Other additions include mini-bars and a coffee/tea station in each room.

The public spaces of the hotel have also been beautifully redecorated. The Bala’s bar has been upgraded with a new counter, new sitting, new lights and a totally different and improved ambiance.   The entry walkway is also furnished with lounge chairs and lighting. To stay connected to the internet WI-FI has been implemented throughout the hotel.

Fort Young Hotel remains the premiere hotel in Dominica and a natural choice for business and leisure visitors.

I only hope that they improve the service, especially the bar service, in particular during shows, dances & other public events.

It is not only tourists that deserve & should demand great service, but all guests & patrons of the hotel

Well done Fort Young Hotel. Dominican doesn`t need the Hilton,Savoy, the Sheradon etc. People come from all over the world and is amazed by Dominica`s natural beauty, Something God has blessed Dominica with. National Geographic named Dominica as one of the top 10 places in the world to visit in 2011 ,because of it natural beauty. You all think leaving in a places with sky scrapers, hugh buildings and lights are what makes a place beautiful? Don`t get me wrong there is beauty in everything but none can compare to the beauty of the creator God himself.to all those negative Dominican ,take note . Americans,Canadians and many others leave the glitter and the light to enjoy God`s natural light from the moon and to be in a hotel where nature is your true surrounding, Like my grand mother always said to me ,if you have nothing good to say it`s better to stay silent. If you have to make a comment be constructive and help with the progress of your country.

    Congrats on the upgrades.

We always go there on special occasions and thats where we take our visitors. Food and service is always good. The views from the Waterfront restaurant is spectacular

We dont expect the place to match the Hilton or Savoy. So those who have negative words, please remember that Fort Young is the one No. 1 hotel in Dominica, so its our Hilton/Savoy.

Why can’t we the people of Dominica just be happy that a hotel is doing good for the sake of the country. Instead you’ll are quick to know how much duty free the hotel received. It is Dominicans that are preventing the country from moving forward faster with all the negative vibes.

    Good job fort young….

TYPICAL. I GUESS PPL LIKE U HAVE NO SELF CONFIDENCE SO CAN ONLY CRITICIZE NEGATIVELY. YOU EXPECT TO THE HILTONS TYPE OF HOTEL. STUPES.

        February 7, 2011

Yes and why not the Hilton? I certainly think my country Deserves the best.
And what has self confidence got to do with it, I will suggest that is people like you who’s acceptance of mediocrity allows the status quo in Dominica.

Congratulations to the management of Fort Young Hotel and in particular, Mr. Philip Nassief and all the board members. As a former employee of your management team I know it may not have been an easy decision by the board to embark on such a project, taking into account the state of the economy worldwide. However, I must say that it was needed especially the standard and fort rooms. Cudos to the designer. I hope that the employees will appreciate what they have and treat it like it was theirs, and help the company grow. I feel proud to be a past employee.

All the best to you guys!

Congratulations and thank you Fort Young. It has always been a great pleasure to stay at the hotel and the Water Front Restaurant is in particular worthy of many accolades for the quality of food and service provided.

It is also encouraging to know that the internet access has been upgraded and is now available throughout the hotel as opposed to be only available in the bar area which invariably is problematic and often requires finding the appropriate staff member to reset it. This has always been my main complaint about the hotel also the unreasonable high volume from the DJ during the Friday evening happy hour which can be unbearable if you happen to be in one of the rooms next to the bar area. I hope you fix this too by giving paying customers a little more consideration during this regular event. It’s very simple, all you need to do is turn the amplifier down a few decibels.

    • Observer
      February 8, 2011

Well my dear the locals are “paying customers” also and I would suggest that if you have a problem with hardworking Dominicans coming out to enjoy themselves and relax on a Friday night after a hard week’s work then go elsewhere because your request is simply selfish…if you have to, upgrade to another room away from the noise, or is too expensive for you???

I am wondering the same. Nevertheless, I am happy that Fort Young understands that a hotel has to be refurbished periodically if it is to be competitive and attractive.

They needed that upgrade, well over due. Still in need of more cooling systems upgrade for the hot summers.
