Hike to Dominica’s Boiling Lake is well worth the trip

Only one day in Dominica, and I am getting “judgment.” When I share my hiking itinerary with a local woman, she looks me over and expresses concern.

“You’re going to the Boiling Lake? You don’t look like a tomboy. Are you sure you can do it?” she asks.

Perhaps I should not have discussed my athletic goals while I was standing around in my bikini. The Boiling Lake hike wouldn’t be an easy stroll, but I am determined to get there.

Dominica is so beautiful. I wish that more persons would take time to explore the wonders and spend time with nature on those hikes, trails, valleys, mountains, you name it.

One thing I have learnt a very serious lesson hiking boiling lake. Always gear up properly! Something that some of us neglect. I busted tissues in both knees hiking Boiling lake but I am a big advocate for that hike. I love it love it love and will do it again. This time, I wearing everything and I will prepare well. That hike is just sooooo amazing man….Jah! Thanks Lord for your blessings on us.

Now folks, this is the reason I do not hesitate to praise everything Roseau Valley. I do not claim to speak on behalf of the Roseau Valley but I will join anyone who will uplift that part of the Island to its true potentials. Most times when visitors express that sense of wonder about the beauty of Dominica- the Roseau valley is featured. That is an undisputed fact.

Praise and gratitude must be given to successive governments for recognizing that fact. The UWP administration saw it fit to construct the connecting Wotten Waven/Trafalgar road and raise and gratitude is due to the current administration for repairing, resurfacing and upgrading the road network leading to and within some communities of the Roseau Valley. But more has to be done so that visitors to Dominica can continue to enjoy all what the Roseau Valley- and by extension Dominica, has to offer our tourists.

A trip to the Roseau Valley must be on the itinerary of every visitor who wishes to enjoy the Nature Isle of the Caribbean–that includes a trip the Boiling Lake, the Valley of Desolation, the Titou Gorge, the Fresh Water and Boeri Lakes in the heights of Laudat, our many water falls in Trafalgar and Providence Estate (Laudat/Cockrane), the sulpur springs, the many hot water spas in Wotten Waven (Screws, Ti Kwen Clocho and Tia’s Hot pool to name a few), the Rain Forest Aerial Tram facility in Laudat and of course, we are also featured at segments of the Waitukubuli National Trail that passes through the communities of Giraudel, Morne Prosper, and Wotten. Waven. Welcome all and continue to enjoy the true nature isle of the Caribbean!
