Dominica Hotel and Tourism Association President, Simon Walsh has reported that despite intense showers Hike Fest, one of Tourism Month’s flagship events, was a success.
“We just did Hike Fest the last three Saturdays and it rained hard every Saturday. Did it stop us? Nope. We had 58, then 62 and then last Saturday 75 Dominicans out there on the trail, hiking through the rain,” he said.
Walsh mentioned that there were a few visitors from neighbouring islands and from further afield who went along for the hikes.
“We had a few people from St Lucia, a few from Barbados and a couple of tourists over the three weeks and every single one remarked how much fun they had because of the social aspect. Nobody cared that it rained,” he stated.
This year’s Hike Fest was the third hosting of the event.
