Rain Forest Aerial Tram Dominica opens major attraction ‘Gorge Zip Challenge’

Zip line in Dominica

Rain Forest Aerial Tram Dominica will launch its thrilling new Gorge Zip Challenge zip line with an event on September 30 in Roseau at the Fort Young Hotel at 9:30 AM with the Minister of Tourism, the Hon. Ian Douglas, The Dominica Hotel and Tourism Association and the Discover Dominica Authority.

The six-platform Gorge Zip Challenge course navigates three adrenaline-pumping lines through the rainforest canopy. The highest and most exciting is a ride over the 350 ft. Breakfast River Gorge – the highest of any zip line in the Southern Caribbean! Rain Forest Aerial Tram re-opens to the public on October 3. Admission to the zip line begins at $50 EC per person for Dominica residents and $50 USD for visitors. Children must be 12 years or older to ride, with some restrictions.

The new “Gorge Zip Challenge” course at Rain Forest Aerial Tram is an exciting addition to Dominica’s tourism market in recent years. It is also the park’s first year-round attraction, open to visitors and locals alike. The Gorge Zip Challenge will also provide a much needed increase to the revenue stream of the Rain Forest Aerial Tram as well as create employment opportunities.

“The launch of the Gorge Zip Challenge is not just a monumental occasion for Rain Forest Aerial Tram” said Nikima Royer, Administrative Manager of Rain Forest Aerial Tram – Dominica. “It is a monumental occasion for the village of Laudat where we are located, the tourism industry which has been infused with new excitement and Dominica on a whole which has a new stellar product to entertain residents as well as to introduce to visitors of its shores.”

With its first ever local marketing campaign, in collaboration with FSI Creative and QuickLink Productions, the Rain Forest Aerial Tram has delved into the residential and stayover market by the introduction of the Gorge Zip Challenge with renewed energy and determination for success.

Yes its much better than wht wacky rollers had…to compliment that, even the visitors keep saying its the best especially the 3rd zip @ 840ft length of a height @ 350ft…so wacky zips were never like this.

The concept of this zip line has been there long. The building of the tram over the gorge was done on the zip line, most of the materials were transported on the zip line. Further more this tram is associated with the one in Costa Rica and there one can fine the finest zip line if not in the world but surely in the Caribbean. The one in D/a is no where close.

I think $50 ec for locals is a bit expensive. More people would probably be interested in trying the zip line out if it was a bit cheaper.

The way Dominica treats Domincans who have left the country for a better life outside of the Island as foreigners is appalling. If we all stayed on the Island to compete for the limited amount of resources that were there, no one would live to tell the story. No matter where my HOUSE is, I still call DOMINICA “HOME”. For me to have to bring my family to Dominca and pay US$50.00 to ride an aerial tram after contributing to the economy with all of the other $’s spent on supporting those I left behind sending barrels and $ to help with their day-to-day living is a travesty. No other country does that to their folks. Americans are always Americans. Brits are always Brits. If you stop treating us like aliens we will probably feel better about coming home more often and contributing in a larger way. We are no different than any other Dominicans so get over that shrunken brain mentality.

    This is interesting…

“The Gorge Zip Challenge will also provide a much needed increase to the revenue stream of the Rain Forest Aerial Tram as well as create employment opportunities”

Did not realize they needed an increase in revenue… My co-workers and I contacted them because we were planning a company outing. It was 25 of us in all, we wanted to experience the aerial tram as none of us had been on it before. Their response to us was “we do not open for locals, please contact us again when the tourist season re-opens”
We all vowed after that never to give the aerial tram our money.
Thanks but no thanks. Wacky Rollers already has zip lines going across the layou river and a very exciting and challenging course. Oh and they open to locals with no problem.

Dummy there is a difference btwn an aerial tram and a zip line challenge and they copying wat wacky have and it even less appealing. I hope it safe too yer bc i know them things not easy to maintain and aerial tram staff have a history of not being on their toes. They need to pay attention and adhere to safety bc they dont want emergencies on their hands esp not with a foreigner
