UPDATE: Flash Flood Warning extended to 6:00 am Sunday Nov 11

A Flash Flood Warning remains in effect for Dominica as unstable weather conditions continue to affect the island.

In its 6:00 pm weather advisory issued today, Saturday November 10,  the Dominica Meteorological Service said lingering moisture and instability associated with a low level trough system are expected to generate cloudiness, showers and isolated thunderstorms activity across Dominica into tonight. Conditions appear favourable for this activity to linger across the island during tonight with a gradual improvement in conditions expected by tomorrow.

Reports have indicated occurrences of flooding, landslides and rockfall over sections of the island.

The Met Office stated that due to the saturated nature of the soil and the projection for additional rainfall of up to 2 inches,  the FLASH FLOOD WARNING remains in effect for Dominica until 6 am Sunday. People in areas prone to flooding, landslides and falling rocks are advised to continue to be vigilant and to exercise extreme caution during tonight.

The Met office stressed that everyone should seek safe shelter and remain indoors.

We are relient but our airport NOT resilient, our seaport NOT resilient, our roads NOT resilient, our bridges NOT resilient and our government for SURE is NOT resilient! As we speak no one can come in or go out of Domininica, neither by air or by sea and no one can drive here. I would like to ask the UN if that’s resilient. I mean just last week Skerrit told his supporters Maria attacked the wrong country and today, without a storm or hurricane Dominica is in panic mood? Your trust is in those Chinese but here is a reminder of Jeremiah 17:5 “Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.” I hope you realize by now that Everytime those Chinese attempt to build bridges the sky bursting wide open on us

We are resilient and have always been resilient. 25, 30, 40 years ago we weren’t afraid of anythingt but the last three years we became a fearful nation. Take this article from DNO, where we are being told to stay in doors because of flash floods. Boy 20 years ago, under that much rain most of us would be in the laboushrie (where the river and sea meet) collecting dry coconuts. But back then we had honest, truthful and God-fearing leaders so heavy rain was our friend and weren’t afraid of anything. But today? Under Skerrit? Where lies and dishonesty and planning evil device against those that hold a view different from his? It’s for this cause Da is no longer a resilient nation but a retarded nation. I mean because the opposition had a peaceful protest that allowed Dominicans to know that we had a wanted criminal, who was a friend of the pm, hiding here and he was captured, you say they attempted a coupe against you and you trying to jail them? U can’t see good days sorry.

Honestly speaking Domininica is really the first resilient country in the world. If you want to see how resilient Doctor Skerrit made us just take a trip to point round bridge. We made a mistake during the independence because we should have created a resilient award for doc Skerrit for making us the first and last resilient country in the world! Trust me there was not one before us and there will not be one after us. We are the Alfa and Omega

There are measures the government should have put in place to lessen the damages to the environment, public and private properties and to minimize the threat to human and animal lives.. What about well constructed sturdy roads and bridges with proper drainage systems. The proper dredging of specific rivers with ‘muscular’ retaining walls to prevent flooding in densely populated areas should have been done, at some point, over the past eighteen (18) years. No one can prevent natural hazards from coming ashore but many measures could be put in place to avoid the severity of the damage. The solemn duty of a government is to put sensible procedures, initiatives, programmes and steps in place to prevent or greatly reduce the loss life, limb and property. The severe lack of carefully planned infrastructural developments have contributed to the severity of the widespread devastation to the country. Can anyone now honestly blame ROSS for evacuating itself from Dominica?

Alah I feeling sorry for the PM. Is fix today down tomorrow. Build today and what he build falling down tomorrow. Boy PM for the sake of Dominica just stepdown to see if we will not be more lucky with somebody else because we cannot make progress like that man and apart from that, you under too much stress PM. If you truly love DA please call it a day man because to me, our situation reminds me of Psalm 1:4 which says: The ungodly are not so: “but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.” We can’t make progress like that. So PM this time count me out because I trying somebody else. I am tired of that back and forth
