UWP delegation meets with Dominica’s Chief of Police

UWP Executive commends Chief Carbon on the meeting
UWP Executive commended Chief Carbon for responding to their request

The United Workers Party (UWP) is commending Chief of Police, Daniel Carbon, for agreeing to meet with its executive, at his “earliest possible convenience”, and for  treating the subjects raised, “earnestly and with aplomb.”

The meeting, which was also attended by senior officers of the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force, was held at the police conference room, Police Headquarters on Friday 1st February, 2019.

A release from the UWP states that among the “substantive issues of great concern to the UWP’s Executive” which were raised with the Chief and his officers were matters related to the democratic freedoms of the Dominican people, political activities of the UWP, the rule of law, and policing in the Commonwealth of Dominica.

According to the release, “The UWP informed the assembled officers that these talks were aimed at establishing and implementing protocols for confidence building measures that would inform the future relationships between the two organizations, which would inevitably redound to greater peace and security in our beloved land.”

The party’s delegation comprised Senator Isaac Baptiste, president of the party and leader of the delegation, Joshua Francis, Parliamentary Representative for the Roseau South constituency and UWP Deputy Political Leader and Daniel “Danny” Lugay, Parliamentary Representative for the Roseau North constituency. Other delegates were Senator Monelle Williams-Jno Baptiste, Senator Ronald Charles and Nicholas George, General Secretary of the UWP.

Opposition leader and leader of the United Workers Party Lennox Linton, was “unavoidably absent” due to an emergency that required him to travel overseas, the UWP release stated.

The party said that it looks forward to other meetings in the not too distant future.

This is just part of a plan of the opposition forces method of operation with the use of intimidation, fear, shame, guilt as motivators.
It is impossible for them to change from their past experiences and bias no matter their fronting. They think they can fool the police. The police were born at night but not last night.

Man bites dog…. just ignore those people who have eyes, are not blind but cannot see or even think and understand. They are like their leaders who were expelled from school for cursing teachers and fighting students. They cannot change and have taken their bad behavior to the highest level, the House of Assembly where they are fighting the Speaker. They went to Guyana and crash a heads of government conference and fought protocol and security officers with their claim that they carry diplomatic passports. The same passport they were condemning on CNN . So just drop the mike on those street fighters, those gang bangers. Let them continue to swim in their blue ignorance.

Man B Dogs and company, you all are losers, you all have failed to argue and debate on the issues before hand that is to be decent in politics and government of our failed Domininca. The allegiance you two political clowns have for your questionable failed Skerrit is sad and you have put Skerrit ahead before that of your ailing failed Domininca reduced to poverty by the same clown Skerrit you two have worshipped like Judas in the bible and refuses to move the LaCie from your eyes and the corrupt behaviour for you empty brains to continue this fanfare of protecting Skerrit. The higher you two climb this rotten corrupt Tree, the more you all expose your assests to the public and that of your failed PM Odd Minister. There is nothing that you two can identify and qualify as progress or Develpoment of our people and our ailing Domininca. Skerrit has failed and he knows that. He lacks intellectuism and knowledge of soci-economic of Domininca. Our farmers have been kicked out now no jobs

That corrupt government we have in Dominica has failed us and are also ignorant & blind of the process of socio-economic development. from where \I sit upstairs, we know that, we see the incompetence of Ministers and Skerrit show its dirty behavior in Domininca on a daily basis. How insulting to have mothers and over people desperate for cash and dished out to these people publicly at the Entrance of the Financial Centre. Shame of Skerrit Shame on you two guys, shame.

Oh how I pity you shallow intelligence. It is said that inky two things can come out of arguing with a fool.1) he will beat you with experience and2) he will take you to his level. The next prime minister of Dominica had over seas business to attend to and he left the meeting to competent subordinate to attend. I guess you are a blind labor supporter so I am wondering who Skerritt would leave to attend a similar meeting in his absence. Like it or not Linton will be the next prime minister of Dominica and intelligent fools like you have to accept it.

Man Bites Dogs, are you referring to the bunch of clowns within this labour failed, holes clown corrupt labour uselessly 18 waste of time so called ministers, led by a very Odd Minister? Mr Clown and Mrs Bite Dog, The UWP Team is a very diverse Team, intellectual and business like in their endeavour and operations. Your Odd Mininister Skerrit is unable to match that group much less to attempt to stand next to Hon Linton, in addressing matters of intellectual capacity. Don`t you think we do not know of Skerrit`s failure and weaknesses and ignorance of decent application of politics up there within the Financial Centre. Civil Servants laugh at Skerrit, they talk of Skerrit and they have a right to do so because these civil servants like myself, all have been well nurtured and qualified highly to execute our work professionally. We have no Bin Bonnol or Fertilzer Bobol to deal with. we protect the State and use and account for states money everyday. Man and Dogs, go tell ur Skerrit to Go

I am not surprised that the Leader of the UWP was not present to lead his colleagues in the discussion with the police. It would have been most embarrassing for them since he would have had to explain to the lawmen why he encouraged his party’s Salisbury supporters to rain stones on them. Also, he would have had to explain his hostile posture towards the police top brass on February 7, 2017.
Any perceptive observer will see through the UWP’s strategy that is designed to extend its influence in the police force. It’s General Secretary is a retired senior police officer; and the person who filed an election petition claiming bribery and treating in the last general elections is also a retired police officer!!!!! Nuff said!!!

Ras, whatever, please expand on this statement and be logical and fluent with that story. I am trying to follow but I do not make the connection. What is the morale of this statement? Man bites dog…. just ignore those people who have eyes, are not blind but cannot see or even think and understand. Also, sir/Madman, explain this statement also. Just does not fit into the culture and politics of Domininca.
“Any perceptive observer will see through the UWP’s strategy that is designed to extend its influence in the police force.” Please try, give it a go. Thanks

This must mean one of the following:

    – The DPF genuinely wants to do the right thing.
    – Chief Carbon has credible intel of the Dr. Dr’s imminent deposition.

    “Life is flux”

DNO please put up a more recent photo of Daniel Carbon please. I don’t know when this picture was taken but the truth is, I have never known Mr. Carbon to be looking the funny way he looks. I say funny but in a very concerned way because Daniel and I attended the Vielle Case primary, PSS and also played cricket and football together and to be honest wit you if DNO had not put his name below, I would not have known is Daniel. Bro honestly speaking your job is not good for you because if you don’t take immediate steps, your job will kiss you goodbye. Your job is treating you just like it treating Ricky in agriculture and all you better take note.

While Carbon remains the worst Chief of Police we have ever had, let’s hope the other senior Officers who attended will take these matters seriously and provide proper training to the lower ranks to abide by the law. The Chief of Police is NOT the Labor Party enforcer. He works for the people of Dominica and should demonstrate equal application of the law regardless of party affiliation. Remember! Skerrit will not be PM for ever.

When you see the opposition is meeting with state police of any country you know that country is like Venezuela and other countries ruled by a dictator and as a result, the police or army becomes the political weapon of that dictator as we are seeing in Venezuela today. I don’t expect anything to come out of this meeting as it reminds me so much of meetings opposition leader of Venezuela, Mr. Juan Guaido, had with heads of the Venezuelan army to get a peaceful resolution to the ongoing political chaos that Maduro, a very good friend of Skerrit has created in Venezuela and no wonder Skerrit is numbed because he knows very well that Dominica is next on the agenda

We do not have any State police in Dominica.

State police  means- a political unit characterized by repressive governmental control of political, economic, and social life usually by an arbitrary exercise of power by police and especially secret police in place of regular operation of administrative and judicial organs of the government according to publicly known legal procedures.

In America, when we refer to State Police we are talking about police force that is under State authority, rather than under the authority of a city or county in the State. The can go into any city in the State and make arrest conduct surveillance and ect.

Now Dominica can become a police State, when they get out of control and begin to operate above the laws of the country, by then we will be in a full blown dictatorship!

Opportunism with human faces anew. Reminds one of the 1995 elections and it’s precursors.
Things were hot. DFP was seen as a bygone. The then Comish saw the light at the end of the political tunnel. He opted to give the best route to the UWP putting hurdles in DFP &the DLP’s way. He was of the mind set The Queen was about to die so long live the new King. UWP was coming so he join/jumped on the ban wagon. As Jimmy Cliff’s song said “It ain’t gonna last too long. He did not see that coming The rest is history. The then Comish with the British -American accent just like Groovy bat’s ( but much more refined) -lol both happened to be cops once upon a time. Maybe that answers the accent issue lol-was asked to retire in the public’s interest. A slap on the wrist. He took lalin for like 2 decades and resurfaced as acting President for a month. Some species never die. They seem to just morph .
Only in DA so let’s see what goes down with the current Comish et Al

Good move patriot Linton et al.. Let’s wait and see, but I hope the deliberate and wanton spraying of peaceful people by the police will be persued to the end… Carbon has not shown any sign that he is a Commissioner that can act independently…I have no faith, confidence in him as commissioner…He is a puppet on a string!!!

It is always a good thing for individuals and groups of individuals to dialogue with one another to find common accord. This may sound cynical but I’ll express it anyway. Skerrit has a controlling effect on every aspect of governance in Dominica. Everything involving any organ of government is meticulously calculated for political advantage of the DLP. Nothing much if anything at all is going to be achieved from this meeting. The police commissioner is a stooge of the governing administration. The man acts like a diehard political activist of the ruling political party. The top echelon of the institution can be considered political appointees. I mostly try to buttress by statements with sound evidence. These are but two examples of the police unquestionable loyalty to the Skerrit’s regime. The raids and arrests of members of the main opposition on bogus charges concerning an attempted coup. Tear-gassing of women and children at a peaceful protest. They exist to serve Skerrit.

Was the tract record of the UWP a presentation at hand. Does that mean the UWP will obey the rule of law and show the are capable of good behavior. Will they display more statesmanlike behavior in Parliament. No disrespectful attitude towards the police and support for the crime stoppers group. They will stop blocking roads and looting the PM inlaws property.
They will stop walk outs , demonstrations and quitting. Will not go M. I.A. DURING DRSASTERS.
The will stop the ‘SKERRIT MUST GO MOVEMENT’ AND WILL NOT REPEAT D-Day and give the government 14 days to vacate office. Are they going to remove the injunction and let the necessary legislation be passed for electoral reform which they have been clamouring for.
There is an old saying ….Let there be peace….and let it begin with me…are they going to take hid of this saying. Are they going to cause opposition forces to stop spreading anger when they call the radio station. Every bad action will have a police reaction…

Nice try Joseph. The rule of law and its abusive matter, please direct your questions as far States funds are concerned at Skerrit, this failed Prime Minister. You seem to be hiding behind some rotten Red Chair, but we have been asking failed Skerrit and his clowns to account t foe the Bin Bobol. This is a matter of thievery and misuse and abuse of states funds. That is where the focus is, get Skerrit out that we are able to clean his extremely corrupt failed period in Office….this failed Odd Minister.
