Francis said the UWP is committed to protect workers

Deputy Leader of the United Workers’ Party and Parliamentary Representative for the Roseau South Constituency, Attorney-at-Law Joshua Francis, has highlighted workers’ interests in the party’s May Day Message.

May Day is being observed in Dominica today.

In his message, Francis says his party is committed to protect workers from unfair competition, unreasonable business practices and oppressive working terms and conditions.

“We continue to pursue policies which encourage investment and workers empowerment at every level of the economy,” he said.

He continued, “As Parliamentary Representative of the Roseau South Constituency, I recommit myself to my constituents-to improve the welfare of our “workers.”

“It is my desire that by the time we celebrate the next “May (workers) Day”, we will be able to extend Labour /May Day greetings to more workers in our constituency and Dominica by extension.”

The Attorney General of the shadow government in Dominica’s parliament appears to be in good stead as it relates to his opponent in Cabinet. A wonderful example in politics.

when people who do not necessarily side the gov’t try to create jobs whether permanent or temporary they the labour government blocking them, the Lindo Park project for example. It was Hon. Reggie that said a couple months ago the opposition has its role to play and they to should embark on development and job creating projects- yet still the same Minister blocking the development of Lindo Park by refusing to meet with the committee to resolve any concerns his ministry may have. That will not deter us as a committee because we have a number of projects for the area which has already gotten approval by donor agencies in principle so they have a lot to block. The nice thing about the projects they are community driven and focused and not politically influenced and the donors like that. In fact they rather deal with grass roots organizations and NGO’s rather than government. –

What have you stated? They are not the D/can government. They are the opposition. As it stands with them, they have no power to create jobs.

Well, did you consider that he is the PM and he should have been given the precedent? Knowing how some people feel about him, was he willfully ignored and double-crossed?
