The United Workers Party (UWP) has said it is joining the rest of the world in extending condolences and best wishes to the family of the late legendary human rights champion, Nelson Mandela, of South Africa.

Mandela passed away on Thursday at the age of 95.

In a release on Friday the UWP said, “Mandela’s leadership in sacrifice and struggle over many decades as one the greatest advocates for freedom, democracy and racial equality ever, has inspired a world community to higher heights of decency and civility.”

The party said with his passing the world “was deprived of an internationally revered symbol of the togetherness that binds our human family.”

“We salute his life and times. We mourn his loss,” the party’s release said. “We expect that over the next few days, as a mark of our deepest respect, the flags of Dominica will fly at half mast as our faithfully departed liberator finds fulfillment in the achievements of his earthly flight and rejoices in the embrace of our father in heaven whose work on earth he pursued with distinction. May his soul rest in peace.”

Nelson Mandela’s granddaughter reveals harrowing details of her childhood ‘I was sexually abused by the people who were supposed to look after me’

Eighteen years after the end of apartheid, South Africa is now judged to be one of the most unequal societies in the world. More than half of South Africa’s children live in dire poverty

According to South African novelist Zakes Mda:
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/9280481/More-than-half-of-South-Africas-children-live-in-poverty.html
“The disillusionment of young black South Africans began when Nelson Mandela was president.

“So did the unbridled accumulation of wealth by the ruling party apparatchiks, accompanied by the marginalisation of all those deemed to lack ‘struggle credentials’.

“While cadres of the party gained positions of power and wealth, both in the public and private sectors, the rest of the black population remained poor and out of work.

The world has reasons to mourn the loss of Nelson Mandela. What a man he was! I read he said, “Canada’s tolerance was inspiring.” This was obviously during his visit or later.
http://www.msn.ca has a few articles on Nelson Mandela, his life and also tributes from around the world. I saved what I have seen/read so far. I bought a special USB for this purpose. Do not want to miss all the information for future reference and also that others could read. I love to share. :)
Canada’s Prime Minister Harper and his entourage left for South Africa to pay their respects to this great man.
President Obama and his wife, Michelle will also pay their respects sometime this week.
I certainly wished I could be present. :) Not possible. Too far! Nevertheless, those of us who would love to be present but are unable to do so will be there in spirit and as we view the proceedings on TV.
Once again, Sir Nelson Mandela, no more pain, suffering and sorrow. Rest in God’s glory and peace! Hopefully, ’til we meet at Jesus’ feet whenever the inevitable day comes.

Do you think that Dominica’s “PM” Skerritt will attend Mr. Mandela’s funeral as he did Shavez? Or do you think he will send a representative? I think the answer is, none of the above. He will never shame himself in such manner.

If UWP Really reflects on who Nelson Mandela Was to us and the World They would Join the Rest of Dominica First before Joining the world in “extending condolences and best wishes to the family of the late legendary human rights champion, Nelson Mandela”
Why does UWP sound so detached from the rest of Dominica ???

Rest in peace the great Nelson “Madiba” Mandela. Your 27 year imprisonment while it limited your freedom of movement did not imprison your moral and spiritual being and your super human nature. Your work before that dreaded time, that 27 years of sacrifice, and more so your work thereafter; have liberated your people in South Africa and has had a most inspirational effect on humanity the world over. You have shown the world the true meaning of forgiveness even to the heartless perpetrators of your unlawful and inhumane imprisonment. Your flesh is gone from this world but your spirit and influence will live on. Condolences to your family and to all who grieve your passing. PEACE

Nelson Mandela: is a great African icon. His life on Earth is a pure example of peace and love. After his 27 years of incarceration, instead of prosecuting, and fighting his oppressors, he signed documents making peace with them. His life is the example of what Christ modeled of us. Turn the other cheek. Nelson Mandela was a true hero!

Mandela’s long struggle against Apartheid injustice, inequality, oppression, poverty, human rights and freedom has had no effect on many present-day Black Leaders.

The majority of people are reeling under poverty and becoming poorer, while a few are still engaged in corrupt, illegal acts that further impoverish people.

Money that could be used to uplift the declining standards of living of the marginalized go to enrich friends, politicians, grovelers, defenders, protectors, of the elite class. Mandela, all his life fought against such corruption.

Imagine Skerrit and his DLP Govt. having foreign relations with Morocco.

That country is fighting against the people of Western Sahara in Africa. The liberation Movement, the Polisario Front, has been fighting for decades for their freedom and Independence from that occupying power. Mandela struggled, preached against such domination.

While Patriots are struggling for more Freedom like what Mandela hoped for, our Leader here says that This country is too Free. This country is too free, Madame speaker.

The patriots must continue, with renewed strength to fight relentlessly against oppression, inequality, dictatorship, illegal actions, against poverty and bad governance.

Oppressors must Fall. How Long? Not long.

This is clearly seen on our island, where hundred of millions of dollars have been poured into this country, but yet still it remains one of the poorest countries in the Caribbean. BAD AND GREEDY LEADERSHIP!

As I have said, the first thing is to be honest with yourself. You can never have an impact on society if you have not changed yourself… Great peacemakers are all people of integrity, of honesty, but humility.” ― Nelson Mandela.

May his soul R.I.P….we all will missed you greatly. What a man of GREAT INTERRITY….
