VF Inc to host ninth ‘Youth Summer Series’

VF-Inc logoVF Inc is set to host another exciting annual summer youth programme this year.

The activity dubbed, “Youth Summer Series” which is in its 9th year will take place from July 25th – July 29th at the Convent High School and climax with a hike in the Kalinago Territory on July 30.

Research Officer of VF Inc, Paul Baron, who spoke on behalf of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of VF Inc, Dr. Valda Henry, told Dominica News Online (DNO) that the activity which caters to young people aged 10 to 19, will focus on empowering the youth and protecting the environment.

“The whole focus is sort of to prepare them for life in itself and focusing on some of the challenges surrounding young people and ways in which they can overcome those challenges,” Baron said. “The programme is designed to enable young persons’ to participate in various activities geared at empowering young people.”

He said the programme will provide an organized setting for discussions on various topics which include: coping with peer pressure, building self confidence and self esteem, coping with depression and anxiety, stopping sexual abuse and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

“The programme obviously has a life because it is very sustainable and is being supported by many organizations,” he noted.

Baron said registration is currently open and organizers expect more interested persons to join the programme.

Registration costs $125.
