WCMF season tickets go on sale Friday

Sale of season tickets to the 16th edition of the Annual World Creole Music Festival (WCMF) will begin on Friday at the Festival Dwivaye hosted at Krazy Kokonutz in Castle Comfort.

Event Director of the Dominica Festivals Committee, Nathalie Clarke-Meade made the announcement at the 4th Press Conference of the WCMF on Wednesday.

Meade disclosed that a parade from Roseau to Krazy Kokonutz will be held to launch the opening of the Dwivaye.

Meade also announced that utility companies DOMLEC and DOWASCO had come onboard to provide in-kind sponsorship to the  $2.2 million event.

Other sponsors represented at the press conference included Depex Color Lab and Dominica News Online.

In an effort to raise awareness of the festival in Guadeloupe Sobers Espirit and Wadix Charles will be undertaking promotions in that French island, Meade said. The two recently returned from promoting the event in Martinique.

The World Creole Music Festival is scheduled to be held at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium from the 26th to the 28th of October, 2012 and will form part of the 34th Independence Celebrations.

Damien “Junior Gong” Marley, Krosfyah and Taurus Riley are among the featured acts for the festival.

steel pulse, sing,,how can we sing in a strange land.
dominica has become a strange land, our leaders have stole from the masses, disrespected the masses, cheat the legal system, rape our finances, and victimize the servants who dont support their bigotry…
i will stay home, cannot party in that strange land.
    GOD HELP US.

why should we really start off by launching the world creole music festival at Krazy Kokonuts. A place which divides our people along political lines so clearly.
Secondly, what is the deal on THAT night for the tickets….and the answer cannot be 325.
Yes, and who are you fooling getting a brokes organization like Dowasco to sponsor ?? It looks like a bon temp for the boys.
    Enjoy

Let’s face it Dominicans. The WCMF has lost its essence and true meaning a long time ago. Tell me, did anyone see a Creole name mentioned as one of the featured bands or artistes? We should simply just change the name of the Festival to Reggae / Soca Fest D/ca style and stop using the word Creole since we all know that there’s hardly anything Creole about the Fest anymore. As someone mentioned earlier – when will you ever see a Dominican band headline a Reggae show in Jamaica, or a Soca event in Trinidad or Barbados?? Probably never!! So we seriously need to stop this foolishness and bring back the true meaning to the WCFMF once again with genuine Creole music and entertainment. I remember the show being a way better success in the past when the show featured authentic Creole acts. I also remember the ticket prices being way cheaper with way more headliners. Until we reassess this situation, the WCMF will continue to dwindle and die till it’s no longer makes sense to host the show.

We need some fresh blood and new ideas on the organizing committee before its too late!

Sorry Guys this Year’s line up is extremely Terrible to say the least.

Way too many recycled Groups,Bands or Individuals
Or Acts which are exhausted in terms of Just Performed at St.Kitts,St.Maarten and Antigua.
Acts like Riley and Gong Marley seen so many Times In the Region this year…Gosh..

Please look ahead and Gain a Act which will surely Rock or cause a eye opener ahead for Patrons..

We surely Deserve Better after, after and after 16 Years…Gosh!!

    LOL…what Fest..that’s a dead letter this year..
Line up isn’t appealing to anyone who is looking for something new or some act that will make you really push to head in…pretty much a around the corner next to a local rum shop with some noise setting..

Lacks any kind or World like or High Appeal..

My View think Creole in the Park based on Economic Situations on island surely has hit the Fest for a Mighty six out of the ball park…

To get this Fest looking anything to be a crowd puller we need a committee alongside a USD3Mill Budget, need a better acoustical set out area which embraces outdoor Fest vibes.

Need a International Airport to be able to get in visitors Globally as its a quote and quote (WORLD EVENT) as well as accommodations etc..

We in Dominica love shooting ourselves in the Foot thinking we doing so well, whereby our sis and bros next door are far ahead in terms of logistics and the know how to run HIGH END EVENTS..

Think its bit of narrow mindedness being afraid to bite the bullet and soar high that’s the issue which engulfed the Dominica climate..

Patrons the world over including locals would appreciate buying tickets online. We would appreciate if this is made available. I am sure many people would like the convenience of purchase by phone or computer. Many persons would like to secure tickets early without leaving their homes or joining a line. After all this is 2012, lets use technology to the max and cater to a world audience.
