Below is the latest weather outlook for Dominica issued at 6.00 am on Monday August 22, 2016.
A high pressure system will continue to be the dominant feature across the area during the next 24 hours. A few brief showers are likely during the afternoon.
A tropical wave located about 830 miles east of the Lesser Antilles is producing disorganized shower activity. Dry air near the system is expected to restrict significant development during the next few days while the disturbance moves westward to west-northwestward at 15 to 20 mph.
This system is expected to move across the area by Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday. Regardless of development, this system is expected to bring increased rainfall and gusty winds across the island. Persons in areas prone to flooding, landslides and falling rocks are advised to be vigilant and to exercise extreme caution.
Additionally, another tropical wave located in the far Eastern Atlantic is expected to develop into a tropical depression later today while moving in a northwesterly direction.
Slight to moderate sea conditions are expected during the next 24 hours with waves peaking near 5.0 feet.
This week will be our first anniversary of the destruction of Erika. This week also reminds us of the cake cutting party Mr. Skerrit and his friends NG, Ashe, Francisco, and others, were enjoying their sewo in Macau on August 26, two days before Erika destroyed us, and like Jonas in the bible, who was vomited back on shores by a whale, Skerrit had to be given helicopter to return home. I said all this because I realize on the eve of anniversary of Erika and weather is not very good, Skerrit might be once again out of state as Ian Douglas had to act as PM in Calibishie. Please stay put Mr. Skerrit because we have been very unlucky with the month of August!!1
