The Meteorological Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Dominica until 12 noon Sunday July 31, 2016. A strong tropical wave is currently generating unstable conditions across the island chain including Dominica.
According to the Met Office, Satellite and Radar imagery indicated that shower and thunderstorm activity have been affecting Dominica throughout Saturday. The forecast is for moderate to heavy shower and thunderstorm activity to affect the island tonight into Sunday with rainfall amounts ranging between 2 to 4 inches and higher amounts in elevated areas.
In a release, the Met Office cautions that A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS FLASH FLOODING IS POSSIBLE.
Persons in communities that are prone to flooding, landslide and falling rocks are urged to be vigilant and take all precautionary measures to protect life and property.
This watch may be further extended should conditions become necessary.
Throughout this hurricane season I am urging all prayer warriors to gather in groups and to encourage other citizens and pray for the protection of our beloved Dominica.
Remember Climate change is real, and if we look globally we will see the effects of Global warming. Small islands can face serious problems from these conditions. Let us keep on praying for protection from storms and hurricanes.
