A trough system is expected to move eastward across the Lesser Antilles on Monday into Tuesday. Conditions appear conducive for moderate to heavy shower and thunderstorm activity along with occasional gusty winds to affect Dominica throughout the period.
Current model projected rainfall is approximately 3 to 4 inches (75 – 100 mm) with higher amounts especially in elevated areas. Moderate seas are expected during the next 24 to 48 hours with waves peaking near 7 feet. Small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise caution.
As a result, persons in areas prone to flooding, landslides and falling rocks are advised to be vigilant and to exercise extreme caution as flash flooding is possible from Monday into Tuesday.
Weak unstable conditions will continue to produce occasional cloudiness and scattered showers mainly across the southern portion of the island chain during the next 24 hours.
The public is advised to keep informed on this system by paying attention to further updates provided by the Meteorological service.
