The Meteorological Service has upgraded the Flood Watch to a Flood Warning for Dominica as a tropical wave continues to affect the island.

The Warning was issued at 5:00 pm and is in effect until 6:00 am on June 7.

A flood warning means flooding is already occurring or will occur in the warning period.

-Unstable conditions generated by a tropical wave are affecting Dominica and the island chain. Satellite and Radar imagery indicated that light to moderate showers and isolated areas of heavy showers and thunderstorms have been affecting Dominica throughout today. The forecast is for shower and thunderstorm activity to continue to affect the island throughout tonight and Tuesday. The projection is for rainfall accumulation of up to 2 inches and higher amounts in elevated areas. Flash flooding is therefore possible.

-Silted and or blocked water-ways are likely to promote flooding and landslides.

Persons in communities that are prone to flooding, landslides and falling rocks should be extremely vigilant and take all precautionary measures to protect life and property. Be ready to move to higher ground. Motorists and pedestrians should not attempt to cross flooded roadways and water-ways.

This warning may be further extended should conditions become necessary.

Your Worship, the drains of your town are blocked, what are you doing about that? Apart from having a free parking space and sitting on your toffee apple what do you do whit your time every day? We do not see one initiative from the Mayor’s office to improve Roseau, not one!

People will always blame skerrit as if is he alone responsible. Or as if is he that send the tropical storm and caused it to flood. Is not only skerrit is us dominicans to. If we have to wait for him to do everything on our doorstep that affecting us then we will never move where we are. Everything wait for him but remember taking care of a country even if is a dot on the map is not easy to do especially when people always complaining.

I say come down rain, flood, storm and hurricane and sweep away all the evils, all wickedness and all the corruption that Skerrit has contaminated Dominica with. I say just like the Flood of Noah that destroyed the earth in Genesis 6, when God saw the wickedness of man and the great corruption; even so I say spare not and attack everything Skerrit has errected here and has any interest in. How much more wicked can we get when it gets to the point that a government minister was arrested, bailed and charged for allegedly immoral behavior with a minor and, his pm upholds him aND wants to honor him with a win at the polls? Better yet, when a female minister and widow of a late pm, and responsible for youth gives the impression that what he did makes him a hero? Since when we got that wicked? Just as UWP swept the SLU, may there be a national purge all over Dominica until all the wickedness of Skerrit is completely demolished and he joins NG, Ashe and other friends in New York

What is wrong is that one incompetent group who lack vision governs this country. As a result, the things that should matter take the back burner. The end result is that the country remains in a mess and suddenly any little rain results in disaster for the citizens. I have long realized that Dominicans care more about a party than the country. Shame, shame, shame!

What is wrong is that they built Roseau too near the water and did not allow for adequate drainage ways.
