ODM calls for rushed preparation as Kirk approaches Lesser Antilles

Watches and warnings for Tropical Storm Kirk

The Office of Disaster Management (ODM) is advising Dominicans to be prepared as Tropical Storm Kirk approaches the island chain.

Fitzroy Pascal of the ODM said that preparation for the arrival of the storm should be rushed to completion by this evening or early Thursday morning.

“The possible hazards associated with Tropical Storm Kirk, moderate to heavy rainfall which could call life-threatening flash flooding and produce damage to property,” he said on state-owned DBS Radio.

He stated that people in compromised structures, including those with tarpaulin, should exercise caution and make plans for sheltering and evacuation at the earliest possible time.

He said important documents such as passports, birth and marriage certificates at the like, should be properly secured.

“And just a gentle reminder of basic recommended items for your emergency kit: one gallon of water per person; food for at least three days, battery-powered radio, your flashlight, your batteries, your first aid kit; your cell phones, make sure they are properly charged, prescription medication and glasses,” he said.

He stated that hurricane shelters might be opened this evening at 6:00.

Pascal said a comprehensive announcement will be made this evening at 5:00.

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Dominica.

This means that tropical storm conditions are expected to spread across the island by Thursday and continue into Friday.

We need to try a Good fearing leader and not a hypocrite like the one in office now, to see if Dominica will not enjoy some fruitful years of peace, prosperity, unity and deliverance. Right now we getting the opposite We building new houses only to see them vanish the next year. We naming highways only to see storms destroy them and bridges the following year. We planting our Gardens but can’t enjoy a fruitful harvest. Our bananas dying, our citrus dying our coconuts dying, Ross ran out and just name it! Are we so blind that we can’t see? Are we so stubborn that we refuse to learn? We need change because only a change will restore our land

I don’t care what people say about our geographic location, but the truth is our constant state of fair and panic cannot be normal and should not be taken lightly. The once peaceful country, the nature isle of the Caribbean, now feels like what the people of Iraq had to go through during the days of Sadam Hussain. As I do my research I realized that from the time Mr. Skerrit attended the funerals (remember my name is talking in tongues) of Rosie and Pierro our climate did change from one of peace to constant fair. It’s like the man above is not happy with us, our support for evil and unrighteousness and he letting us see that. It reminds of the book of Judges 3:11, when Israel was constantly attacked and defeated until they got a godly king, and then enjoyed peace for 40 yrs, though their enemies we’re still there. We need a godly…
