Tropical wave approaching Dominica

weather map

The Dominica Met Office is warning residents in areas prone to flooding, landslides and falling rocks to exercise extreme caution since the island will be affected by an approaching active tropical wave.

On Wednesday morning the system was located around 450 miles of the Lesser Antilles and will begin to affect the island late Wednesday.

“From tonight (Wednesday) through Thursday scattered showers and thunderstorm activity are expected with rainfall amounts increasing to approximately one to 1.5 inches. Isolated pockets of heavy showers are possible tonight through to Thursday which may produce beyond the expected rainfall amount of 1.5 inches,” Weather Forecaster Marshal Alexander said.

Due to unfavorable conditions, chances of the wave becoming a tropical cyclone remain slim for the next few days, while it moves west north west at about 15 to 20 miles per hour.

Moderate sea conditions are expected during the next 12 to 24 hours with waves peaking near 7.0 feet. Small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise caution.

Well Met Office must continuously educate people about the various weather condition… A granny in my church is the Tropical Wave is like another Tsunami, I had to tell her no it is a weather condition associated with thunderstorms, lightning, rain, some wind gust and ground swells… so people living under cliffs, near rivers, along the beach like where she living in Mahaut and where her auntie living in Massacre, and where her cousin was living in Petite Savanne, they should take precaution and be vigilante just in case things get worse…

Any way my Bible open on Psalms… I eading the whole Book of Psalms to night we papa that one bound to pass us straight… AMEN

What do you mean everyone here needs help? not everyone was affected by the storm buddy. neither myself nor my family needs help. im sure that is the case for many. even those who may have accepted relief packages. Yall need to stop giving off the impression that we are now destitute. Stop giving off that “poor me” energy in hopes that someone else will miraculously save us. We are ok. We need work to get to where we were in some areas but by and large we are doing some or most of what needs to be done.

Dominica continues to be threatened. The PM should put more effort in assuring that all the items shipped from all the contributors abroad get to the people who need it. There should be a concerted effort to let the donors know what happened to all those containers of dry goods that were shipped to Dominica. The Dominicans in SE Florida shipped 5 full 40 foot containers, addressed to the Cabinet Secretary, Government of Dominica, we would like to know what happened to them.
