It took a little longer than usual to bring you the verdict on the last edition of WEEKEND FUN.
But we did some more research to ensure that DNO had it right before we judged your responses.
Now we can tell you with certainty that it is a photo of the SMA Cadet Corps taken in the 1970’s and the two prominent Dominicans identified in the pic are Fr.Franklyn Cuffy ( in the foreground to the left) and Briagadier General (Ret) Eddy L. Charles (US Army) in the background.
Thanks for your participation and look out for another interesting edition of WEEKEND FUN on Friday!
We are all so very grateful for the foundation that we got from the Cadet Corps. We are trying to give back today some of what we have received from those great “Mentors”, who spend a lot of time volunteering to nuture us as the Youth of those days.
“Fr.Franklyn Cuffy ( in the foreground to the left) and Briagadier General (Ret) Eddy L. Charles (US Army) in the background.”
I am more confused than before, even with all the comments given. There are three rows here. Row 1 to the left appears to have five cadets with Father Cuffy at the front, Row 2 has 4, and Row 3 has 5. Now, where must I look for “in the background”?
@Tourism PRO seem to know something about the picture, but he/she says:
“From Back to Front
Rosevelt Skerrit
Damien Dublin,
Jose Edwards,
Mr. Gerard Cools-Lartigue
Mr. Francis Peter
Mr. Ossie Symes …Front Arrow
Mr. George A. Royer,
Mr. Ken Robinson
Mr. Martin Charles
Mr. Evander Joseph”
In what row and column are these people standing?
We must learn to be more precise in our directives. You ask the average Dominican for directions to a place and they will tell you something like “you have to go up there and turn the corner.” Usually there are several corners in both directions “up there.”
Admin: You must understand that in the original post we asked that two specific gentlemen be identified and they were highlighted by red arrows pointing in their direction. For DNO, in the update, it was just a matter of revealing the names of these two gentlemen.
Rosevelt Skerrit went to DGS .
Sorry DNO Admin but this photo is from the late 60’s
but like DNO sleeping this week? havent given the answers for who they are….
Father Franklyn Cuffy front, Brigadier General Eddie Charles rear.
I do not know any of them but one thing for sure they are all ready for ballarina dance.
This was not taken in the 70 seventies. I went to SMA in the seventies and if that is father Cuffy he was not there in the seventies. Middle row looks like Bobby Allport
DNO I honestly hope you get people’s consent before publishing their photos online.
There’s a reason why some people do not have a Facebook or linked in page. Not everybody wants their business online. I know if it was my father’s picture u all had online he would be very very upset and annoyed.
Added to the privacy/ consent issue you are exposing these people to ridicule by rude idle bloggers. Different rules apply to politicians, but private citizens need their space.
stop being carried away, you Drama Queen1
@Dream Queen
Being in the cadet corp make you in the public domain. for that matter all their artire is sponsored by the public purse. It not a private club and by their very nature they do public parades all the time which make them open to public scrutiny. so your suggestion is a bit overboard
stupessss!
i will tell my mother that doh, pio pio piopo
get a life

There the cadets on youtube
one is franklin cuffy i do not know the other guy
Is either past SMA students don’t frequent DNO or this one is rather hard. Please drop ina few hints DNO.
BTW I find the uniforms they hard back then were a knid of tight and close fitting. Military style uniforms tend to be baggy cut.
From Back to Front
Rosevelt Skerrit
Damien Dublin,
Jose Edwards,
Mr. Gerard Cools-Lartigue
Mr. Francis Peter
Mr. Ossie Symes …Front Arrow
Mr. George A. Royer,

Skerrit? he went to school in the 80ties
Looks like Skeritt in the front to me, not in he back, but you right…the 70’s?…he’d be too old now LOL!
If u don’t don’t coment.
Jackass
The first one if Father Cuffy
Guy at front looks like Fr. CUFFY?
All I can say is that the parade is taking place on the SMA Quadrangle (Look at the Cathedral inthe back ground). All you, SMA even had stands for the national basketball games.
Sadly this memorable spot is no more it has been supplanted by the New wing aka the bro. Germain wing.
The one at the back is Davis Letang.
the one infront is Franklin Cuffy – The priest
These cadets are from the SMA- the cadet up front looks like Fr. Franklyn Cuffy- cannot identify the cadet at the back.
This picture was not taken in the 70’s,but was done possibly in 1967,68 or 69.The two individuals alluded to in the article are Father Cuffy and Brig.General(US Army)Eddy Charles.I ought to know.
Additionally, there is Commodore(3rd.row,front)Bobby Allport(2nd.row,Front)and Ian Chadderton(1st.row to Bobby’s right).Picture too blurry to make out others.
Correction…It is either Brig.General Eddy or Gerard Charles (can’t remember which one was his first name, although Gerard sounds like it).The cadet after Fr.Cuffy I think might be Eddy Charles..his older brother. The cadet in front of Gen.Charles I think was Willis(I can picture him quite clearly, just can’t be sure of his name)
whats that, DNO
I recognise the front arrow. I think it is Fr Franklyn Cuffy.
The first drak one is Fr. Cuffy
SMA grounds, father cuffy in the front, can’t make out the one in the back.
Father Frankly Cuffy the first one. Not sure of the other.
Those were the good old days, where have the good times gone? just 50% effort to re establish such groupsin our school system would do us a whole lot of good at a number of fronts.
Easy as sunday morning,{1}Paul B,{2}Brown}{3} Royie,#4 piper,#5 George,Lucky,Prosper,Shillingford,Alwin,Shore,Alfred.
The first one looks like Father Franklyn cuffy
The one at the front is Fr. Cuffy .
The D/can icons and sons of the soil are as follows:
* Front picture – Father Cuffy
* Back picture – Come on DNO, how can
one possibly recognise who’e in the
picture (poor quality).
Like!
These are the SMA Cadets. Just a clue for those who want to identify the persons indicated. The one at the front is Franklyn, but I cannot recognise the one at the back. It isn’t clear enough.
Father Cuffy at the front
Fr. Franklyn Cuffy at the front and General Gerard Charles at the back. Is that not Bobby Allport in the center rank? That is the SMA basketball court. That is the Cathedral in the background. On those wooden basketball court benches we were sitting at recess, when Joey Peltier came talking to us about Black Power. When the bell rang Bonti Liverpool told us that we were not going back to classes, we were starting the revolution now. Peltier persuaded us to go back to class.
Front Left is no other than Father Franklyn Cuffy.
Second from left in front looks like Bobby Allport.
fr. Cuffy is in front
Fr cuffy to the front
Here are the identity of the fellows in this photo may i add good citizens, they are as follow; In the front Rev.Fr Franklyn cuffy and in the back is Major Francis Richard, get it? F&F Richard-Cuffy.
