Ophelia, la Grande Dame de la Musique Antillaise, has finally released the DVD of her performance at the 2012 World Creole Music Festival.
Readers of DNO would already have seen one of the songs from the concert “Son Tambour La” penned by renowned songwriter Gordon Henderson a couple months ago. In this song OPHELIA delivers a stunning performance in a duet with Webster Marie , winner of the first ever Cadence-lypso competition.
One of the highlights of the DVD is another duet performed by OPHELIA and Michele Henderson of a medley of classic Dominican Cadence-lypso hits closely associated with the late Jeff Joe to whom last year’s festival was dedicated. In addition to the DVD a CD is also available of the live performance.
The DVD features Cornell Phillip on lead Keyboards, Brent Samuel on Rhythm keyboards, Jason “Froggy” Joseph on drums, Jerry “Eric Clapton” Moulon on guitar, Roland Delsol jr on Bass and Alain Dracius of Martinique on percussion. Back ground vocals are by Webster Marie, Freda Blaize and Carlyn Xavier.
The live sound was engineered by Sean Shillingford of Gator sounds while audio post production and video editing is by Mc Carthy MARIE.
For further information on acquiring copies of the DVD and/or the CD please call 4483438; 6168000 or 6154300.
A clip of part of the medley performed by OPHELIA and Michele Henderson on the DVD can be viewed here.
When trees bear no fruit people do not throw at it. Keep shining like the star that you are! I look forward to seeing the dvd!
That songs a mess with Ophelia’s vocals. Either she singing to a backing track or her backgrounds aren’t blending but a mess i wouldn’t pay to see that no me.
while it is a good effort and performance by Ophhelia, a woman of her standard who has been on real international stages outside of the Caribbean should not be dependent on a World Creol music Festival stage performance video with the audio recording taken from the left & right ouput of the front of house mixing console.
This should have been a multitrack audio recording remixed (This is how it’s done professionally)to cater for a mixed which was probabley dependent on the accoustics of the venue or the type of sound system being used at the time.
And yes I almost forget Creole festival stage is not an international stage, it’s a regional stage but if you step inside DFC everyone in there is convince they are doing international artist. Someone explain to them what an international artist is please.
Agree the sound/mix is not on par with what it should be
not me papa. last year i could not attend the festival but when i wanted to listen to her via radio she did not want them to broadcast her performance and since then i vowed not to buy any of her products.and im not going to dj her songs
That is so stupid of them not wanting to broadcast their performances via the radio. Don’t they know that in order to become popular one has to market him/self? Who wants to buy music they have not heard of? , they want to sell their CDs for an arm and a leg ….they will remain on the shelves of the stores collecting dust
Hey, I do not want to be Prime Minister though in my absolute ignorance I think I could have been a damn good Minister for culture, but that’s besides the point. The point is if I were a Minister despite all the reasons one may have to be against me, and all the errors that may have made, there must be some good done based on the permanent secretaries, advisors etc that I would have had. Plus, the money is free tac money. Now, despite never having held any such office, I can list a string of contributions to country without a salary attached. Can you name one thing that your favorite minister has done before being in office and without a salary that has been of value to the country?
I love these women. They are such an inspiration to our culture.
Way to Go Ophelia and Michelle… May God continue to bless you in your astounding talents
Not a fan.
