Those negative comments above are out of place and disturbing. We need to be more supportive of our young people ,and more respectful of our young ladies. We have a democracy so if someone does something that is not immoral, idicent or illegal that is ok. if someone wish to paint themselves red, its a free country.

If I was a judge I would tie all five contestant for 1st place judging on their beauty alone. But there are other attributes and I am not a judge.
I am sure of one thing…….Dominicans are a beautiful and handsome people . I may be bias, but maybe the best looking people in the whole world, and the smartest too.

You have touched upon an important issue.

All three contestants are naturally beautiful. However, all too often Afro-Caribbean women modify their natural appearance (hair, skin tone, facial features) so as to fulfill a foreign expectation of beauty.

As a painter and sculptor I find it increasingly difficult to find models that remain true to their own identity.

So True. I concur. Our women need to appreciate themselves for who they are and stop wanting to be like the other people who do not care about us. There is a brother who once said, “stand in front of the mirror and don’t move until you love what you see.”
