The Ministry of Health wishes to inform the public that  as a result of the recent heavy rains that pipe- borne water may become contaminated. The Ministry advises that water from the pipes should be BOILED for drinking purposes and making juices.

When the water begins to boil, let it continue to boil for three more minutes.

If you do not want to boil the water, add eight drops of household unscented chlorine bleach to one gallon water and leave it for 30 minutes before drinking.

You should also boil the water before making ice. Freezing the water for ice does NOT kill the bacteria or germs.

Boling and chlorinating  the water will help to prevent Gastroenteritis—- a condition that causes irritation and inflammation of the stomach and intestines.
