In a live address to the nation Friday evening Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit stated that there are 103 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Dominica.
He also advised that a curfew is in effect for the entire weekend.
The prime Minister urged everyone to be responsible and to continue to follow all safety protocols.

On my rounds in Roseau,I heard two women vendors in a conversation(both UWP supporters) one said to the other,in real Dominican style”I tell you doe take de vaccine”.Two days later they had to close business because of COVID-19.% is such a complete JACKA,he believe all 103 confirmed COVID-19 cases are supporters of the DLP.

I agree with you to a certain extent. However, we must realized don’t forget there is freedom of speech and if there is a choosing of posting then it shows biasness. All have a voice whether we agree or not… Don’t you agree? What if someone remove your post for something they don’t like you said? So in Dominica allow freedom of speech whether you like it or not. In America and bigger countries people and free to voice their opinions whether it is liked or not… Biasness can’t prevail over human right to speak.

I fully understand the reason for having those 103 infected persons in isolation. Thank God that most of them if not all are asymptomatic, meaning they don’t feel sick and don’t have symptoms. However I dont see the need for curfew and all that nonsense. In fact it will cause more harm than good. Look, there are more people that are infected and didnt test than those 103 that tested positive. So by having everybody to stay home is not going to stop the spread. In fact what will happen is people will have more fear, more stress, more hungry and yes poorer. There was absolutely no reason for this national curfew Skerrit has put on the people. Instead they should enforce masks, social distancing, public gatherings, closing rumshops and a curfew from 7pm to 6am. But shutting down the economy and putting people on lockdown for the entire weekend? But the people so blind they will say its ok because PM keeping us safe. The medical establishment told you there are a number of people on the island infected with COVID-19, and here you are talking nonsense, about asymptomatic; if they were not feeling sick why would they go to doctors; only to become part of the statics?
Here is the real definition of the term asymptomatic:
An asymptomatic infection is one in which a bacteria, virus, fungus, or parasite has invaded the body but has not yet caused any symptoms (i.e fever or a cough).
One’s body may fight off the invader and may never know it was there. Or, a patient may develop symptoms of the illness after an asymptomatic phase.

On vaccine hesitancy, I insist that every person has the right to decide what foreign substance goes into his/her blood stream. Politicians are excessive in their behavior. Give them a millimeter and they take a kilometer.
However, I’m all for the vaccine once it’s taken voluntarily. I took my two jabs and not a single negative effect -no fever, no headache or any other aches.
One of my biggest problems is this. Those who have taken the vaccine are calm and do not harass or belittle those who have not taken it. Those who have not taken the vaccine are vociferously abusive, livid and white hot mad with those who have taken it. Why?
If the number of cases continues to multiply there might have to be a 24 hour shut down of the country for a couple of weeks in the first instance. This appears to be inevitable.
The administration needs to tap into the reserves of the CBI fund and provide relief for the thousands whose cupboard are empty. It there are funds to finance the construction of an international airport, this is the opportune time to use some of it to stave off hunger, malnutrition, starvation and quite possibly deaths. No reasonable person will criticize you, Mr. Skerrit, for doing this right and honorable thing.
I mother asked a monk to get her son to refrain from using sugar as diabetes was a huge problem in her family. The monk promised to do his best. After three weeks her son continued to consume even more sugar.
The concerned mother went back to the monk and asked him if he had spoken to her son about his sweet tooth habit. The monk said no. Won’t check your maths, but it is true that from the beginning of this pandemic, leaders and the public alike have underestimated the risks. After a lockdown numbers (unsurprisingly) go down and people get lax about restrictions until exponential growth begins again. Please Dominica, don’t fall into that cycle. By the grace of God this surge will subside, but afterwards REMEMBER that everyday you are simply at one point on a curve, which WILL rise or remain flat depending on your behavior. There is a remedy for this virus: stay the course with masking, distancing and vaccination until the pandemic is actually over everywhere – and it will be over, just like every other pandemic in history.
