Nominee for President’s replacement confirmed by PM

Outgoing President His Excellency Charles Savarin

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has revealed that his government has decided on a nominee who will replace His Excellency Charles Savarin when his second five-year term comes to an end on October 1, 2023.

The Prime Minister made the disclosure during a press conference held recently.

Mr. Savarin is the eighth President of Dominica.

“I will have–as Prime Minister, as per the constitution–I will have consultations with the Leader of the Opposition in the month of June on the government’s nominee for President,” he said.

Skerrit continued, “The government has concluded on a nominee with the several names that we had and we are concluding on somebody, but I can only disclose the name after I have spoken to the leader of the opposition [Jesma Paul-Victor] in respect of the office that she holds and the prescription in the constitution with regards to that consultation.”

Furthermore, he indicated that after consultation with Mrs. Paul-Victor, an announcement will be made to the public.

“That is, if the leader of the Opposition and myself agree on one nominee,” Skerrit explained. “She may have people, I don’t know. If she doesn’t and she agrees with my nominee then the constitution speaks to the process. If she doesn’t agree with my nominee and she has somebody she nominates then the constitution prescribes the process of electing a President.”

The Prime Minister assured the public that the person who has been identified to fill the position of President of the Commonwealth of Dominica is someone he believes the entire country will be pleased with.

After his stint as president is over, this man would be relocated to the scrap heap of history. History would frown on him.

A president is not fondly remembered for the enormous sums of money he accumulated in his reign, but for the positive influence he made on the people he served. Safari will be reminded as a deadbeat, conniving president.

Qualifications for the office of president now a days: that person should be:
    1. A Traitor
    2. A teeth
    3. A supporter of evil
    4. A criminal
    5. A wanted man for crimes against his people
    6. A mordara
    7. A greedy

I know someone with all these qualifications

Gason just make the son of Chichi president because Charles Savarin tenure has already made that office look like a pit toilet

Are you sure you are talking about the President f the Commonwealth of Dominica and not the President of the Dominican Republic? Easy mistake to make. Just in case you didn’t make a mistake, I seriously pity you for you can’t be right n your mind.

Skerrit should be removed from office before he gets the chance to nominate his puppet which is most likely going to himself or Dr. Clarissa Etienne. Dr. Etienne is current a professional and good at what she does but she drinks that red cool aid from the poisoned chalice it will be over. This illegitimate nominated government needs to go. That’s our priority.

Im sorry but all these Prime Ministers have always in effect hand picked the President. Blame the constitution.

Many years ago President Crispin Sorhaindo was not nominated by Prime Edison James for a second term. When asked why by a reporter his response was that the constitution gave him the right.

You do not meet the requirements that is why you were not handpicked. It is intended to keep you in suspense for a long, long time. Give you ample time to run your mouth on DNO all day, all night. Do u find time to make love to your woman if you do have one? Skerrit got you all trapped up like a rat.

Now I know, based on the stupidity posted by idiots, none of them have a copy of the constitution. Then Juanitass the opposition leader will force Skerrit into having all elected members of parliament vote for President.Skerrit nominee will become President because Labour has more than 2/3 majority.Whether IBO and his bunch of aholes jump high or jump low Skerrit’s nominee will be president. So parliament makes the President.

No High School drop outs for President. It would be doing Dominica a big disservice. No ugly Lenny for President. That person has to be either handsome, beautiful or attractive.

I must state that I have no clearance from Ambassador Hubert Charles nor from dr Carrissa Etienne to put their names forward as the persons with the gravitas needed in this high office. Indeed, either of these would please Dominicans across the board

Mr. Charles Savarin spent his entire tenure in the White House sipping tea, snacking on confectioneries, fine dining, spent an inordinate amount of time sleeping like a Koala Bear, and being an obedient servant of Roosevelt.

Savarin’s handpicked successor by the most despicable, shady and lying character in Dominica, would be a perfect substitute of his predecessor.

Just a reminder. Anything that Roosevelt does is for political expediency. Everything is for self-enrichment and total control over a servile population.

“She may have people, I don’t know…. If she doesn’t agree with my nominee and she has somebody she nominates then the constitution prescribes the process of electing a President.”
The honourable leader of the opposition should call the bluff of the PM and propose her own candidate and see what happens.

Why don’t you apply for the job if you think you are qualified which you are not. All you blue monkeys do is to wait for Skerrit to make an announcement about anything and here goes the bums, rumbling and grumbling and mumbling like old people do sitting on the four corners in Roseau. Is she really the Opposition Leader? I thought last election was a fake, a sham.

You would do well but unfortunately for you Skerrit has not sunk that low yet that he would hand the position to a previous toilet cleaner. Sorry mate, all that singing over the years was for absolutely nothing. I told you so!!

Skerrit, the opposition leader has no say in the matter. You are not consulting with her. Uou are meeting her because the constitution demands you do so. The decision has been made and your nominee will be the next president. Don’t play with words.

I am glad that the blue bunch of UWP idiots will not be involved in the process.Letting those idiotic supporters of UWP know, the constitution makes provision for consultation by WRITING.Right now Dominica has a level headed human being as the parliamentary opposition leader.Since UWP was obliterated as parliamentary opposition, serious crimes in Dominica has stopped. No more young people asking for guns to kill Chinese and Haitians.
    Carissa Etienne for President.

In the past, the process of selecting our presidents have been seriously flawed, since Skerrit has never consulted with the leader of the opposition….He has always opted to inform him that this person or that person is his choice of president. Consult and inform may look like synonyms but there are nuances between the two words.
This time around it’s automatic as usual, that his choice will be the person replaccing Savarin…
It’s time that we vote to elect our president!!! A president should not be politically tainted like Savarin is!!
Savarin could have done the country a service by resigning today. He is the worst we have had!!

Partisan politics has decimated every aspect of good governance in Dominica. The rule of law, the police service, the justice system, parliament, the entire public service, every aspect of life in Dominica has been negatively impacted by the misrule, lawlessness and greed of one Liar.

Only the collective and genuine and determined efforts of the citizens will liberate Dominicans from their present dominance of this evil doer.
