Tourism Awareness Month in Dominica, celebrated in May, is being commemorated this year under the theme “Tourism is Everybody’s Business – Own Our Own.” With Discover Dominica Authority, the Ministry of Tourism, and the Dominica Hotel and Tourism Association at the helm of this annual event, its objective is to underscore the crucial role of tourism in Dominica’s economy and to recognize the contributions of stakeholders. It also aims to foster and fortify the connections between the Discover Dominica Authority and local contributors, while showcasing the diverse offerings of the island.
Throughout May, a series of interactive activities and events will spotlight the various contributions of local stakeholders to Dominica’s tourism sector, including Jazz ‘n Creole main stage and fringe events, the launch of Staycation, DHTA’s Hike Fest, Tourism Awards ceremony, beach clean-ups in collaboration with communities’ local government, and In-school visits.
“As we usher in Tourism Awareness Month 2024, we are reminded that the stewardship of Dominica’s tourism industry is a shared responsibility that rests on the shoulders of every Dominican. This year’s theme, ‘Tourism is Everybody’s Business – Own Our Own,’ is not just a call to action; it’s an invitation for each of us to actively engage in nurturing and showcasing our island’s natural beauty, culture, and heritage. I encourage everyone to participate in this month’s activities, as we own our own,” said Ms. Andia Ravariere – Destination Marketing Manager, in a press statement.
