Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has called on the Dominican public to keep Parliamentary Representative of the Roseau North Constituency, Mirium Blanchard in their prayers who he said is presently out of state seeking medical attention.
He made the disclosure during a recently held press conference.
Blanchard has been absent from her constituency for some time, and a number of constituents have been questioning her whereabouts.
“I ask for everybody to look at the human being, because politicians are human beings…,” Skerrit said. “I ask everyone of us to pray for her and pray for her recovery.”
He continued, “The Roseau North Parl Rep had some health issues… As prime minister it’s my duty to be concerned about the welfare and well-being of members of parliament and members of my cabinet.”
Skerrit added, “As a matter of fact I am the one who directed her, because she was not willing to go to seek medical attention and to see whether she can recover from the challenge that she is confronting.”
Skerrit said that she has his full support.
He further revealed that he speaks to her on a daily basis and continues to encourage her, indicating that she will return to Dominica at the appropriate time.
According to the prime minister, the government continues to provide oversight to the Roseau North Constituency and to ensure that residents are provided for.
“We have back-to-school supplies being part of that and the other issues confronting them…and I look forward to further strengthening the support systems for the Roseau North Constituency, so that the residents of Roseau North issues can be addressed in a timely and respectful manner.”
I wish you a very fast recovery, Comrade Mirium! I only read hateful comments when we should all be praying for her recovery. The hatred of that small but noisy minority towards our DLP Government, our country, and its health system reaches this point, but truth and justice always prevail. The hospjtals even in the U.S transfers their patients to a different hospital whenever they have to ,but no you all will not know such ,because you Dominicans are just their to bring down the hospital with all your negative talks .The same hospital that you all will seek medical attention at .

The hospital we have in Dca is simply a building and all the hype about it including the capabilities of the HI-FU (High and and foo/ crazy) machine is designed to fool and confuse the unsuspecting. I am no lover of the DLP but Mrs. Blanchard is first a Dcan before a politician and I wish her all the best. Matter of fact I consider her a friend.
However, she is fortunate that the state will take care of her but what about you and I? STOP making excuses for this failed government and accept reality. The hospital is just a facade and the board of directors along with management need to be fired. And they might as well take the PM and minister of health along with them.

I listened to PM Skerrit with tears in my heart as I noted he said that he was the one that directed her to go abroad for medical assistance, even against her wish. Now he is the one calling for prayers for her. I hope he wasn’t the one that caused it and wasn’t the one that diagnosed her. But PM left us with no hope that she will be back at work , though he indicated that she might be back in Da one day.Let me remind PM and others that not all prayers are answered 1 Jhn 5:16 and rest of ministers better take note. Not one of the ministers ate there with a heart to serve Da but rather, they are paid to protect the lies, evil and corruption of money God not realizing that money is good but it’s useless when it can’t buy our health and wellness. If she was at the DCFH in Dominica you notice she would have been in here constituency and she possible could have done the – work from the hospital bed deal-
She has vacated her seat. Talking about it now and no mention in parliament for excuse. Not because you all are in Government that she can just be absent whether she sick or well. She is sick enough to be in the Hospital in the United States and not attend parliament.
There are rules that guides parliament – if you want her to be a member of party your party still – Grand – that can do.

Today is another historic moment in the continued development of hospital services in Dominica,” Minister for Health, Wellness and New Health Investment, Dr. Irving McIntyre said while addressing the commissioning ceremony on Thursday.
The Dominica-China Friendship Hospital (DCFH) has commissioned its High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU).
The machine was donated by the Chinese government at an estimated cost of US$2.5M and will be used to treat tumors- both benign tumors and certain malignant tumors, especially prostate cancer.
TODAY OUR PROSTATE CANCER DEATH RATE IS UP AND POLITICIANS FLY OVERSEAS FOR THERE TREATMENT THEY DONT USE THE SAME HOSPITAL AS THE PEOPLE THEY SERVE .
Dr. McIntyre explained that the capacity of the machine will exceed that of the needs of the population, “but citizens must feel a measure of comfort that they can receive treatment right here at home for treatment that otherwise would have been obtained in the US and elsewhere.”
It’s always sad to hear of someone being ill, whether it a politician or any vagrant on the street.So i feel for the family.
However, my concern for a number of years now, is the inability of what LIAR SKERRIT calls a China-Dominica Friendship hospital, which cannot adequately provide basic healthcare to anyone. Skerrit is wicked, he is a gloater, and just don’t care a dam about the health of Dominicans… This place is just a building. Nothing more.
Skerrit what about those that you HATE, who are suffering from ill-health as well, but can’t travel abroad to address their health issues? Its none of your dam business? Your wicked soul.

DCFH is what is considered a “General Hospital.” It will never be able to provide 100% of our medical needs. Especially for certain acute life threatening conditions. There will always be situations when an individual will need specialized care from a hospital/medical facility that SPECIALIZES in whatever the ailment is. And for that one would need to travel outside of Dominica.
Just on economy of scale we will never be able to get these kind of facilities in Dominica just to service our population. What we can dream for is different specialized facilities spread throughout our region making it “easier/cheaper” for the people of the region to access such care. Coupled with a health insurance system that would support us traveling to these facilities to access care. But that remains a pipe dream. So the hard truth is some of us will die because we can’t afford to travel for specialized care that could potentially save our life.
