Prime Minister of Grenada, Hon. Dickon Mitchell

The Prime Minister of Grenada and the Grenadines, Hon. Dickon Mitchell, will address the State of the Black World Conference slated for Baltimore, MD from April 19-23. “Under the leadership of Maurice Bishop, the Grenada Revolution was an inspiration to progressive Pan Africanists around the world. It is inspiring to know that Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell has called for a National Commemoration honoring the life and Legacy of Maurice Bishop this fall. God willing, as President of IBW, I plan to organize a delegation of African American leaders to attend this historic commemoration”, said Dr. Ron Daniels, President of the Institute of the Black World 21st Century and Convenor of the State of the Black World Conference”.

“We are delighted and honored to have PM Mitchell, speak at the SOBWCV, especially to pay tribute to one of his predecessors, PM Maurice Bishop, a Pan-African icon and revolutionary who gave his life for the advancement of the Grenadian people in October 1983,” said Don Rojas, director of communications and international relations at the Institute of the Black World 21st Century and former press secretary to Maurice Bishop.

“Maurice Bishop was an inspiration”. Please! A “leader” who eliminated human rights and locked up over 2, 000 of his fellow citizens -denying them legal recourse – is ” an inspiration”. Really? Extreme distortions never seem to cease!

Kobolol is not saying what he want,he is saying what he heard from those foolish UWP supporters. It is ok for DNO to post everything in favour of IBO and his handful of crooked traitors.Anything against IBO,DNO becomes the property and business of Skerrit.Maurice Bishop and other members of his government were executed by AK-47 firing squad at Fort George in St.Georges Grenada.Bishop was executed because he was moving away from from Cuba and Russia(communism). In 1983 the Dominican contingent of the CPF flew by C130 HERCULES transport plane from DC airport to Pointe Salines airport Grenada. From there to be housed at Fort George.Dominicans worked with the 82nd,65th the Grenada police and the 108 division, they took part in several operations and raids all over Grenada. In 1984, 34 police officers were trained by the 7th Special Forces, 82nd AIRBORNE division from Fort Bragg NC USA.Today there are several police officers from the 1983 Dominican contingent living in Dominica.Fake news UWP.

History is replete with national heroes who are appreciated and celebrated abroad more than at home. This is no different in the case of Maurice Bishop, a true Grenadian patriot.

We should always assess and judge everyone on his or her merits and motives in order to avoiding drinking the proverbial Kool Aid peddled by others.

This requires us to undertake the difficult and impartial task of drowning out the noisy and misleading opinions of others while being guided by our own good and fair conscience.

In heeding my own advice, I have long determined that Maurice Bishop and his significant contributions to the Diasporan political landscape are indisputably worthy of this long overdue honor.

I wish to commend Dickon Mitchell (Prime Minister – Grenada) for honouring the contribution of Maurice Bishop to the Caribbean and more importantly to the Black World.

I’m unsure that this comment will be publicised. It appears that DNO in very recent times has been instructed to refrain from posting comments of the readers. They have to comply to the wishes of their main shareholder it looks like.

One time I agree with you Ibo! Kubulol actually doesn’t know his history or he was not born yet, too small, or repeating what he heard from someone.

I can definitely see some parallels between the late Maurice Bishop and PM Roosevelt Skerrit. Maurice was handsome, charismatic, eloquent, for the people and progressive. So is Roosevelt Skerrit despite what the insignificant minority thinks otherwise.
