Five candidates, from constituencies in the Northeast, South, West and East of Dominica, have successfully been nominated by Team Unity Dominica (TUD) to contest the upcoming general election on December 6, 2022.
These individuals include Carlos Charles who will be contesting in the Marigot constituency, Ian Rolle – St. Joseph constituency, Jason Jno. Baptiste- Roseau Central constituency, Jason Fontaine – LaPlaine constituency and Lyndon Peters – Grand Bay constituency.
Just two days ago, during a press conference, Charles, who is the Assistant General Secretary of TUD, revealed that the party would be contesting enough seats to form the next government.
With TUD being the only opposition party to participate in the election – the others abstaining due to the lack of electoral reform – Charles stressed that if citizens do not unite against imposing incumbency, they will only continue to fight utilising what he deemed as failed tactics and strategies.
According to Charles, the Dominican people should unite and send a clear message to the government on December 6 that “enough is enough.”
Following the news of the snap election, General Secretary of TUD, Alex Bruno, issued a call to the opposition parties to join forces and unite to defeat the incumbent Dominica Labour Party (DLP).
He has since confirmed to Dominica News Online (DNO) that the party is working with six of the other independent candidates who have been nominated to contest the elections.
