Arthur Waldron SDA Academy advances to semi finals in debate competition

Arthur Waldron SDA Academy has won the second competition of the second round of the Inter-Secondary Schools Debating Competition.

They took on the Portsmouth Secondary School (PSS) on Thursday. The debate was held at the Arthur Waldron SDA Academy.

The topic of the debate was dubbed: “Development of a vibrant cannabis industry will increase the interest and participation of young people in agriculture.”

The proposing side Arthur Waldron SDA Academy gained 614 points while PSS received 568 points.

Rowin Christopher who represented PSS was awarded best speaker. His teammate was Tajhai Larocque. Burzha Bertrand and Shereen Carbon represented Arthur Waldron SDA Academy.

The last debate in round two will be held tomorrow when North East Comprehensive School will go up against  Castle Bruce Secondary School.

The topic will be: “Dominica should censor music which is played in public spaces that glorifies immoral activities.”

It will take place at the North East Comprehensive School from 2:30 PM.

    It’s sad that there is a leader on island that just can’t debate.
