The calypso semi-final is being described as a massive success where 9 out of the 20 competitors delighted the audience and won the approval of the judges for a place in the grand calypso final.
A huge crowd gathered at the Windsor Park forecourt on Saturday night to witness the show.
The nine calypsonians are Dice (Everything Lost), Tasha P (Calypso High), Bobb (If I was Prime Minister), Daddy Chess, (Hegas, No Gas), Black Diamond (My Granny change), Trilla G (Dick Taylor Ship), Shanice (#CONCERNED), The Healer (Gangstar Society), and Mighty D (Talking Dogs)/.
The final will take place on February Saturday 18.
The calypsonians who did not make it to the finals are Joy, Comforter, Karessah, Shadow Flow, Mighty Omie, Bingo, Checko, Explosion, Checker, Chris b, and Soul Puss.
Daddy Chess’ song was quite simple with forced rhymes. No way it was superior to Shadow Flow’s
I wonder who is the first Jazebel,Ahab & Jazebel mother or the the queen of Roseau?.The one who is older is the one who started the Jazebel business.

Which god? Skerrit, the god of money and ungodlinesses the Church has endorsed and Peter Augustine recently referred to as a man of integrity? Sad to say but it’s even easier to find the spirit of God’s word in songs of Dice and others that are calling the evils of Skerrit out than the church that condoning the ungodliness of Skerrit
I find the semifinals had a lot of songs that called out Ahab, the evil king but not one called out Jezebel, the evil queen from the center of Roseau. Look my king will be for the one that’s able to come up with a super road match calypso directed at the evil Jezebel because as evil as Ahab is if Jezebel was less evil Ahab might not be so evil
Surprise surprise. Truly all 20 deserved to be in the finals though only nine could.Although it was a tuff night for the judges but based on what I saw and those that impressed me the most I would pick Checko ahead of Daddy Chess, Explosion over Tasha P and Soul puss over Shanice.
But alah I feel very bad for Karressa. Rejected by his own Marigot people, then rejected by Roosevelt Skerrit and now rejected by the calypso judges? Boy it’s been a very tuff last 45 days for my boy Karressa and my hope is that the Evil man that the Mighty Karressa was affiliated with does not cause another one to reject him
Let the Damn crook Karessah take it like a real man. That is part of hi quailing because you cant dump your people for the devil himself. Chi-chi Bang-bang have to make him crawl on all fours for a job soon. I pray god that he is not sacrificed like the many young men recently.
I am beating my chest because I know I am going to boycott the finals.
