CEO of International Airport Development Company reports updating of plans for airport site

Samuel Johnson, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the International Airport Development Company

Preparation works are ongoing for the construction of the much-talked-about International Airport as focus is being placed on updating the master plans for the airport site.

This is according to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the International Airport Development Company, Samuel Johnson, who was addressing a meeting between Cabinet and visiting Dominicans at the State House Conference Centre this week.

“The past year we’ve been in what I refer to as a design and prepare for construction,” he said. “A lot of the work that has been ongoing has been focused on the updating of the master plans for the airport site.”

He continued, “We have been going through a runway alignment, site location, the terminal location, sizing facilities, and all the key functions that would go into the airport and the airport site.”

Johnson indicated that a lot of the work that is going to form part of the airport site is the development of flat land.

“Building that platform on which the runway, the terminal, the buildings, and all the other facilities would comprise the International Airport site,” he explained.

Johnson explained further that the site layout is a 2850 meters runway, “that’s just about 9900 feet thereabout and for the average person what does that mean? How does that compare?”

“When you look at our sister islands to the north and south of us, St Vincent which is the most recent International Airport built is actually 2745, a little bit shorter than ours, similar for Grenada, similar for St Lucia,” he said. “So we are a little bit more than our neighbours in terms of the runway.”

He mentioned that the airport is being built to provide a facility that will enable direct flights from key destinations and key source markets.

The one billion dollar contract for the International Airport project was signed between the Government of Dominica and Montreal Management Consultant Establishment (MMCE) on June 9, 2021, signaling the official commencement.

Upon completion, Dominicans will have a modern International Airport, equipped with air bridges, and fully outfitted to receive international passengers and cargo.

The International Airport is expected to be completed by 2026.

Another little Pony Skerrit is using to push his propaganda and lies. Like most of those DI-ass-poores that supporting Skerrit, this one resides in Pbrokepines Florida and he sure doesn’t have an interest in Dominica.
If he is CEO of the airport then what is Anthony Haiden? Why he was not make his face seen during the signing ceremony of the China / Skerrit lying hospital? Boy if Dominica was a real place these people would learn not to get corrupted and lie to the people. But Skerrit done told us that Dominica is not a real country

I feel sorry for our folks and the supposedly educated folks in this country. This guy comes and talk about airport master plan and adjustments and already has a cost. Btw that and money spent on geothermal Henry christophe of Haiti can rest at peace for this is the new citadel moment. We are now hearing comparison with length of runway. Its like teenage guys in the back of the class talking about who has the biggest and longest private parts but thier brains empty not paying attention to the class lesson. When test come all they have is an F and pride with big long privates.

Samuel Johnson reminds me of the Architect who presented an aesthetically pleasing modern rendition of the new Roseau, only to be deceived yet again. I’m not sure how long it takes to redesign the runway, to include proper alignment and facilities such as terminal and terminal building, but it sure seems like a very long time. I will only believe this project when I am able to witness actual construction at the proposed site.

The length of the runway is not the only deciding factor: orientation, ground stability and infrastructure are equally important. It will take a major rethink to overcome these problems.

4 years incorporating to clear land, complete terminal building and runway with all the equipments and other mechanism we have today. Best Chinese had the contract, because they would take less than 2 years to build it. I saw 5 Chinese men built a massive 5 star hotel in less than a year, I wouldn’t not say where. One billion dollar in what currency? The people need to know.

Does the length of the runway mean the airport? 2850 meters is 8550 feet one meter equals 3 feet. Is there enough land at that location to move enough dirt and rocks or are they going to destroy prime real estate all over the island to get that much soil to make it flat for that length of runway? He is saying it will be around 9900 feet he is way off in his figures. Even if true there is not enough land at that location for a runway of that length on flat land. This may turn into another of yours truly marvelous projects like his steam powered power plant that he has been building for the last 20 years and nothing but hot steam has come out and a lot of money wasted. Why a new airport when jets can land at the current airport. Have they thought about the cross winds that blow 24/7 from the Atlantic at that location? Seems like he is trying to bamboozle the people. Who will own the new airport the people of Dominica or some foreign entity. That question needs to be answered also.

The crosswinds in the location won’t matter because NO aircraft will ever land there. Sorry, maybe a couple of drones might land there and that’s it. Why do all you bother with Skerrits and Gucci mad fantasy projects. You saw the beautiful Roseau renderings, anybody seen anything beyond that??? Roseau stinks more than ever.

Samuel Johnson reminds me very much of Dennis Byron. Both have over promised but the deliverables are ghost-like, they most likely may never materialise.

Roosevelt contracts these people of high acclaim but when they are put to the test their promises evaporate like puddles of water on the streets , in the blazing sun.

This international airport is going to meet the same fate as geothermal energy, electoral reforms, cruise village, climate resilient ghost projects, and the boats to transport local agriculture produce from Dominica north and south of the chain of islands.

“Preparation works are ongoing for the construction of the much-talked-about International Airport”(Samuel Johnson).
And that’s all it will be “talked-about: St. Vincent has an International Airport in operation, whereas all they do in is talk, Samuel is making comparison to what exists and what will never come to fruition; we know the length of St. Vincent Airport; where is Dominica’s?
Compare this Samuel: Piarco Int. Airport Runway is 10,500 (3,200m) large enough to accommodate Boeing 777, 737’s and Airbus A310.
Hewanorra Int. in View Fort St. Lucia is 9,003 feet long, whereas V. C. Bird Int. in Antigua is 9,967 feet long (3,038) meters; whereas Grantly Adams Int. in Barbados is 11,000 feet or 3,553 meters long.
Those are all existing, and in operation, nevertheless Dominica’s none existing according to another script reader seems to be the largest in the Caribbean!
    What a joke country!

Have you been living the life of an earthworm for the past twenty years under ground?
In case you were, here are a few of Roosevelt’s lies:
*Geothermal energy in every house just after the 2019 election
      *Intl. Airport many moons ago
      *Immediate replacement for ROSS U
*Dennis Byron’s Electoral Reform Report over a year now
*Denial of Dominica’s involvement in Choski’s kidnapping when the evidence is irrefutable

Dominica is all about progress when at present:
^poverty exploding ^murders & robberies burgeoning ^death rate growing exponentially ^purchasing power rapidly diminishing ^disposal income non-existent ^infrastructural development underwhelming, etc.

You have to wilfully suspend common sense to rate Dominica, a country where living standards have consistently deteriorated for the past 22 years, as a progressive country.

This tool of Roosevelt made the claim that invisible 🛬 airport will be completed in 2026 forgetting not too long ago another puppet said the int., will be completed in 2025.
It’s unfortunate ds, that you are unable to discern, truth from fiction!
Boy, Roosevelt have no intentions of building any International Airport in the country.
The choice land he took from the of Wesley, is now reserved for the Chines elite, some already in Dominica, and more to come.

You should be enlightened by your your experiences and use it to enlighten the poor souls in Dominica so that the best they think they have, is less than the worst in America!
Roosevelt Skerrit told our people that they are living better than Americans, and it appear as if a majority of them believe that lie.
Roosevelt pays for parties as the concluded Creole Festival; he gives them the music, and fill their belly with rum by so doing they are caught in a bewildered state, and they are left fantasizing that they are living an American life style.
And so they watch America Televison, believing what they see on TV is not simply dramatic; a play, so seeing a murder on TV, they go out, hunt down the innocent: rob them of their belongings and murder them!

Yes sir ds, under Roosevelt Skerrit watch Dominica has become the murder Capital of the Caribbean.
When I was a kid we only heard of people murdering people in Trinidad
The first murder committed in Dominica as far as I can remember was took place in the village of Marigot by someone named Kenneth Musgrave.
He was the uncle of a sacked labor party minister from the village of Grand Bay, she was married to the late Prime Minister, who said “Dominicans ware their stupidity on forehead as badge of honor.”
            Hahahahahahahaha!
            Oh, what a thing.
Yes ds, since Roosevelt all we have is crime, thievery in high places, and murder the head politician is the most notorious thief!

There is absolutely no doubt about it that there are a lot of Dominicans living and working in Dominica who live better off than a lot of Dominicans residing overseas and in America and living better off than a lot of white as well as black Americans. I can attest to that and, I know you can too. You think it is only in Dominica there is poverty. America has a lot of poverty, including those who live on food stamps, government checks, subsidized homes, ransacked row houses. You have Dominicans in New York all these years living in basements, rooms, no higher education. Francisco, give me a break in my life. They go back home showing off their jewelries and come to America and see how some live. Francisco, give me a break,

What do you think life is like for someone like that?
Another bit of nonsense you keep mentioning is people living in Basements.
Have you ever been into the basement of a class house?
I been into many, I can tell you they are equipped and furnished as comfortable as many million dollars home.
