ALIVE WORD: Be a peacemaker

Ministers Wilbert and Jacqueline Richardson

“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God” St. Matthew 5:9

God is calling us to be peacemakers. If you are not a peacemaker, according to the above scripture you are not a child of God.  You see, the opposite of peace is war which most time originates because of confusion and the Bible says that God is not the author of confusion.  “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.”  1 Corinthians 14:33  The question is, if God is not the author of confusion who is?  Yes, you got it right, the devil.  People who allow themselves to be tools of the devil instigate and generate relationship wars on all levels.

Confusion is linked to deceit.  Liars are full of the devil.  “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”  St. John 8:44  You see the double standard life will not work.  You are either a child of God or of your father the devil.

In life there will always be situations, there will always be conflicts, disagreements and misunderstandings and that is because we are not perfect and the flesh tries to rule.  However, when we get in situations of conflict we should try our best to resolve them in peace.  This is not always possible because you may want peace while the other person/persons involved are ready for war.  However, we still need to be peace makers with the strength of the Lord and to the best of our abilities by doing what God tells us to do and leaving the rest to Him. “If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.”  Romans 12:18  You see peace is linked to holiness.  When you walk holy you have a desire to make peace and be at peace.  “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.”  Hebrews 12:14

Some people, even in the Body of Christ seem to have the word Confusion written on their foreheads.  Always in say-say and melee.  When a gossip fire is burning instead of trying to put it out they use their tongues and add fuel to the flame.  However, if it gets out of control as would usually be the case, they try to wiggle themselves out of it or try to appear as the innocent victim instead of who they really are, the instigator.  “Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.”  Psalm 34:14  On the other hand there are those who do not want others to live in peace so they try their best to get them in matters of confusion by twisting truth and conjugating lies. Beware!  “For they speak not peace: but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land.”  Psalm 35:20 Such people have their reward and most times cannot take what they dish out.  “As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, the Lord shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity: but peace shall be upon Israel.” Psalm 125:5

We are almost of the close of another year and many people need to make peace with God as well as individuals. For some, it’s their very own family for others its family in the Body of Christ.  It’s a very sad thing when there is confusion and war among family members to the point where some do not talk to each other.  For many, God is saying, “Now is the time to make it right” for your soul is at stake.  If God has been speaking to you about such a situation you need to obey Him for until you do you will have no peace.  Many live in regret because they fail to make peace with a person and then the person dies, while others are still holding evil for people who are in their graves.  It’s not worth it.  Our souls are precious.  Make the apology before the eulogy.  Make peace with God, make peace with your fellow men.

In order to have peace and be peacemakers we must keep our minds on the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ and not be entangled with the world, the flesh and the devil.  “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”  Isaiah 26:3  We must seek to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and we must love and obey His Word.  “Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.”  Psalm 119:162

It is our prayer today that all of us will allow the Prince of Peace to rule and reign in our hearts and lives and that in so doing we will be peacemakers and receive God’s blessings.

Thank you Sis and Bro Richardson for this thought provoking article. This came at the most appropriate time when we are celebrating the birth of the Son who was sent to die for our sins and soon moving in a new year.

Very truthful article for all of us as we strive to serve our true Master in obedience.
