ALIVE WORD: Hope in the lord

Ministers Wilbert and Jackie Richardson

“Why art thou cast down O my soul and why art thou disquieted within me, hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.”  Psalms 42:5

The Vines Expository Bible Dictionary says hope is: Favourable and confident expectation.   In the Greek the word for hope is Elpis – means expectation of good. This original word can also carry the meaning joyful contended expectation of eternal salvation.

Life is filled with challenges – things confront all of us, some to a lesser or greater degree.  You may be thinking that what you are facing today is so great but believe me there are those who are having it so much harder than you, that they wish they could trade places with you.  Pain comes in different forms, physical, mental, emotional, spiritual.  Disappointment, discouragement, sickness, broken relationships, death, financial stress, family issues, marital challenges and the list goes on.

When faced with the challenges of life, what do you do and who do you turn to?  Some people turn to drugs, alcohol, illicit relationships, illegal activities and unscrupulous acts, while others rely on others to help them through the challenges.  However, there are times when the person or people who you may depend on whether by choice or inability cannot be there for you.  Many times people depend on other to do things that only God can do for them.  Sometimes all the wealth you may have or the possessions just cannot help with life’s challenges or give you the hope you seek.  What do you do?

Are you feeling hopeless or in despair?  Are you facing a situation that makes you wonder how in the world you are going to make it or wonder what you are going to do?  The only answer to the challenges of life is to hope and trust in God.  “I wait for you O Lord You will answer O Lord My God.”  Psalm 38:15 NIV  In other words I expect good from the Lord, therefore I will rest, rely, and depend on Him for He is my God.  God keeps His promises and He can be trusted.  Not only that, but His ear is always opened unto the cry of His children.  God has no voice mail or call waiting.  He is never too busy to listen or to help and He is always near.  “For in thee O Lord do I hope thou wilt hear O Lord My God.”  Psalms 38:15

Situations might look grim and it may seem like dark clouds may hang over you and skies over cast with the many trials that may be knocking at your door; but our encouragement to you today is to hope in God.

“Why are you down spirited and in despair and looking gloomy.  Expect good from the Lord.  Let Him fulfill your expectation with good.  I shall yet praise him for my help.”  Psalms 42:5

Praise will cause things to change. If you will just open up your mouth and let the praises of God come out you will find that your situation will change.  When Paul and Silas were thrown into prison, they could have gotten all down spirited and lose hope but they chose to pray and sing praises to God and were delivered out of that dilemma.

Things will not always go the way that you expect them to and people may not be who you expect them to be but know today that God never changes and He never fails.  Our confident expectation and expectation of its fulfillment should be in the Lord.  Take courage and be strong for as long as you trust God know that He is with you.  He is your expectation of good.

“Be of good courage and he shall strengthen your heart all ye that hope in the Lord.”  Psalm 31: 24

Where ever you are today or what ever might be happening in your life; let it be known that there is hope in God.

“May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in You.”  Psalm 33:22

SINNER’S PRAYER

If you don’t know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and would like to accept Him today, please say the following prayer.

Dear God,

In the name of Jesus Christ, I acknowledge that I am a sinner and that I need a Savior. Forgive me of all my sins and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. Your Word says in Romans 10:9 and 10 that if I confess with my mouth the Lord Jesus Christ and believe in my heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, I shall be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. I now confess Jesus Christ as Lord of my life. In Jesus’ Name, amen

The bible is not written in a confusing way, rather, it is written by men who is been inspired by the holy ghost as they lived and as it is explicit. However, it is also written with one thng in mind, to keep you from going to hell, the fact is, all men have gone astray, like sheep having no shepard, and mankind needs direction, which is found in a profound relationshp with his heavenly Father.
