ALIVE WORD: It’s clean up time

The Richardsons

“Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”

–Psalm 51:7-10

God is dealing seriously with matters of the heart and He is calling all of us to do an extensive housecleaning. The cleaning for this hour is not outward cleaning; this cleaning is a cleaning of our hearts. Vine’s Complete Expository Dictionary states that “The heart is the chief organ of physical life, and it occupies the most important place in the human spirit. The heart represents the hidden man in us – the part of us that no one sees but God. The heart stands for man’s entire mental and moral activity, both the rational and the emotional elements.”

The heart is the most important part of our entire being. The condition of our heart dictates our entire life. Proverbs 4:23 states, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” God is calling us to deal with the issues and the matters of our hearts.

We can’t afford to have hearts that are defiled and be unrepentant about it. We can’t afford to allow sin to dwell in our hearts. It’s time for us to clean up. It’s time for us to really look inside ourselves and ask God to examine our hearts. When God examines us, He sees things that we ourselves don’t see. That’s why it’s important for us to daily ask God to examine us, be quick to repent and ask Him for forgiveness when He reveals things to us that aren’t pleasing to Him.

Some of us have so many unresolved issues in our hearts that we are unable to really experience the mighty power of God in our lives. We may look good on the outside in the eyes of man but if our heart isn’t right with God, all our works are as filthy rags. God requires that we allow Him to create clean hearts in us.

Do not allow the enemy to lure you into the trap of jealousy, envy, lust, bitterness, fornication, adultery, deceit, gossip, rebellion, pride, an unforgiving spirit, or any other sin of the flesh. If these sins are resident in your heart and you do not repent, they will destroy you. If God reveals sin in your life and you refuse to repent, He will not hear your prayers. “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me” (Psalm 66:18). The grudge you’re holding against a person who’s hurt you is not worth losing your soul in hell. How’s your attitude toward your family, friends, enemies, coworkers?

God is calling us today to a place of holiness and purity. Psalm 24:3-5 sates, “Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.”

None of us should ever get to a place where we think we are so right with God that we do not have to have a heart check. The more we ask God to search us and the closer we get to the light (Jesus Christ), the more we will see what needs to be stripped from our lives. We must decrease so that Jesus Christ will increase in us.

Today, if you really want to grow in the Lord, if you really want to experience the mighty power of God in your life, begin by allowing God to clean your heart. You cannot afford to be left out of this mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit. It‘s time to clean up!

Prayer:  Dear God in the name of Jesus Christ, we thank you today that we can come boldly to Your throne.  We ask You to search our hearts, see if there is any wicked way in us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  Lord we desire to live for You and to be who You have called us to be.  Help us Lord to have clean hearts and right spirits.  Help us to walk in the Spirit and not fulfill the lusts of the flesh; in Jesus name, amen.

I feel like i have things that are holding me back and keeping me from going fourth in ministry. My Apostle ministered on what comes out of a man will defile him. I’m even to the point that i will use choice words. It’s like when i get upset i can go there easily. I hate when that happens. I feel like i have so let God down. The thing is i don’t want to do that. Please pray for me. I’m going before God concerning my heart. I see what unrepentance can lead me to. I have to have change in my life. Sometime i don’t even want to pray and read my bible. I know i’m save and Spirit filled. I just don’t act like it at times.
