All you have to ask yourself one simple question: does this Budget stand up to scrutiny by an independent accountancy firm? The answer is a no with capital letters. Dominica can’t afford a man like that for PM. I ask all you for the sake of our country: reject this so called PM now! we all owe this to our country!

This budget has more holes than a Swiss cheese. He tells us the Ministry of Finance has been allocated $258.1 million. Of this amount, $96.1million is allocated to debt service payments and $42.7million is appropriated for retirement benefits, which includes payment of gratuities, pensions, compassionate allowances, contractual gratuities and non-contributory. If my calculation is correct this amounts to $138.8million of $258.1million. So my question, what is the reminder of $119.3million for?? Perhaps expenses for the finance minister or the CM which happens to be the same persons. If one reads carefully through this statement one finds numerous more examples of discrepancies. Who audits these accounts at the end of each financial year? Presumably a committee of three total illiterates appointed by the CM. We have to stop this CM delivering these smoke screens year in year out in the same way he makes the same promises year in year out but keeping less than 2%. This man is fooling you

This is not a budget but rather a statement of wishful thinking.

We need to first remember we are DOMINICANS before we labourites or workers. We should hold our leaders accountable. We the people that have the power, it’s us who put them in power. Labour tag line use to be “all shall eat.” But now we are living in a country were only some eat. Why should some eat and all not eat? Ain’t we all Dominicans? when it rains it rains on all of us. We need to support and stand for fairness across the board. We all have to answer to the Almighty Father. Just because I am eating, I should also want to see my neighbor eat, and my friends eat. I shouldn’t be happy that I alone have to eat. Only the Almighty Father can help us. When a leader puts his country first he ensures that the country has enough manufacturing industries to sustain themselves. We can use the Haitians to work the land, then we will be the head producer for the Caribbean countries, lets use our rich fertile soil. Use the CBI $ to invest in Agriculture.

Socialism a la Skerrit! He fooled you all! I’m sad to say, it is probably to late to get him out. Even if he was to loose an election he would deploy his Militia and they would keep him in office. I warned all you 13 years ago when the writing was already on the wall! But all you voted for burned chicken wings, cheap rum and mediocre entertainment. See were it got all you. Mark my words, it’s only the beginning. It will get worse.

This billion$ thing is NOT significant without one important aspect of agriculture, Cannabis. Agriculture is doomed without this new aspect that has been under-utilized for income generation. This cannot be fixed by just buying a boat.
Legalize Cannabis in order to regularize those youth and farmers in general who are already growing the crops.

I want to repeat this statement because it is so applicable at this budget time.

Everything, whether verbal, written or otherwise, that emerges from Roosevelt’s mouth, is contaminated with half-truth and blatant lies. His words are carefully orchestrated to deceive for political advantageousness.

The last budget was heralded by Roosevelt’s foot soldiers as the best thing since sliced bread. There was much song and dance about it.

Sad to report that the lot of the poor was exacerbated as cost of living further diminished their purchasing power. The only persons who benefited were the self-serving parasites of the incumbent aristocracy.

A budget that can’t be accounted for. So we don’t know if is from passport sale, drug trafficking or human trafficking. Very shady and dark dark budget

The late Dame Prime Minister Eugenia Charles once famously told a journalist ” I do not believe people should rule for more than 10 years; they get lazy, things don’t get done. ” After listening to the budget address, one is left to wonder if that was the kind of laziness the late dame envisioned when she made those comments. What one hears definitely does not sound like a budget of resilience, recovery, or sustainability. Rather it evokes memories of the late G. Odlum of St Lucia who once referred to a budget presented by his own party as a “bikini budget” that reveals what is suggestive but conceals what is vital.

    Juanita, a very resilient Dominican

A political analyst posited that when a politician or the head of any organisation/institution stays in power for too long, three things happen. He becomes bankrupt of ideas, corrupt, and dictatorial.

Precisely what is happening in Dominica at present. We have a head of government who has long over stays his time. In fact, he is like expired goods.

You hear lie! Well that is lie!!. How can I believe these promises from a leader known to give promises to the public which were never kept. Where is the completed Petit Soufriere to Grand Fond road? The Ravin Cork to Canfield bypass? The Olympic size swimming pool in Stock Farm? The cruise terminal in Canfield? Fool me once shame on you, now fool me twice?, shame on me. I refuse to be fooled by Skerritt. It took so many years to build the Chinese funded hospital in Goodwill and now promise of an international airport in two and a half years?. We were told that money from the CBI was being put aside for the international airport only to be told after hurricane Maria that only over one hundred dollars is available. First it was a loan of $200 million dollars from China for the airport and I’m wondering where is it? What happened to the money Chavez gave to the Kalinago people? Where is the Roseau redevelopment? The presentation Sounds like children melee and fuzzy maths.

    Well, minister of finance,
“What is the total national debt of Dominca?”
This isn’t a long and winded, verbose with fancy words presentation like you gave. Hope the public will get the answer without delay.
After all it’s the people who will have to repay the millions incurred by your administration, so whilst you keep espousing that your policies are geared to improve the status of every citizen, without exception, it’s important that we know how much money each of us owes our debtors. Come with it
