Policemen and other law enforcement recently formed part of major drug operations across the Caribbean that resulted in the confiscation of hundreds of weapons and illegal drugs worth millions of dollars.
To be more precise, 350 weapons, 3,300 rounds of ammunition and record drug hauls across the Caribbean during the operation; a joint effort between INTERPOL and CARICOM. The Implementation Agency for Crime and Security or IMPACS was also part of the deal.
The operation was dubbed Trigger VII and saw officers from 19 countries coordinate controls at airports, seaports, land border, and inland hotspots, acting on intelligence pointing to organized crime groups and individuals involved in firearms trafficking.
They also searched warehouses, inspected packages and carried out targeted checks at firearms dealerships, shooting ranges and private security companies.
Police made a total of 510 arrests during the week-long operation, including the subject of an INTERPOL Red Notice wanted for murder.
When customs authorities in Dominica x-rayed a suspicious package, they sent information to the operational hub for checks on the sender and intended recipient.
ATF and HSI queried their respective databases, and officers found multiple firearms purchases, placing the package under surveillance.
When the recipient came to collect the shipment, police discovered 20 pistols and multiple rounds of ammunition hidden in cereal boxes. Investigations are continuing both in the United States and Dominica.
Has the Chicken finally come home to roost, Mr AG and National Security Min, stop making promises step up your game before these hulligans turn their guns on law-abiding citizens
More like on the politicians. when you sleep with dogs you wake up with ticks and fleas.
So-called ole police, the word is Hooligans and not hulligants ok!
It’s good to hear that law enforcement in Dominca are trying to help earn their pay check. Prior to this news I often wondered about the police and how effective they were in working to get things in the country under control in light of the many news items of their incompetence. Barrel of guns disappeared from the port, police outbound motor disappeared, killing of the only witness who could provide information on the disappearance of Kernysha, murdering of a young men in police custody, participation in the kidnapping of Choksi and the fiasco which ensued, many instances of illegal entry into Dominca and yet few prosecutions, illegal driver license scandals which have not been stopped, instances of police brutality at protests with no punishment, illegal drug arrest by government operatives and the lists go on. I only hope that when the Dominica police receive tips of illegal importation of items they arrest and prosecute all the perpetrators.
The picture reminds me of long ago when we used to get prizes in cereal boxes. Quite a sinister twist to this version though. Good job law enforcement.
Boots on the ground? Who is marching and calling for the removal of the Skeritt administration by any means? ..just asking
Trying to make a good mame for all the croocked Dominica police. If it was someone else dho had turned up to clear the mox, the music would have sounded differently.
Police never discovered any firearms and ammunition at the port. It is always the customs that discover firearms at the port.
Customs don’t do charges since the firearm act is the legislation that empower the police.
Please get the facts and report truthfully.
