The Pure Blossom Hives Cooperative was registered on June 28th, 2009 under the Cooperative Societies Act #2 of 2011. Currently, the membership stands at 17.
The objective of this newly formed Cooperative is to improve the practice of beekeeping in Dominica while also improving the economic welfare of its members by continually striving to nurture local bee populations through the use of the most advance and eco-friendly methods.
The spirit of global cooperation in bee preservation was manifested in July of 2009 when two volunteers from the Florida Association for Volunteer Action in the Caribbean (FAVACA) spent three weeks on island, while engaging in bee keeper training specifically targeted at bee keeping practice in Dominica.
The training conducted by FAVACA was made possible by the coordinated efforts of Pure Blossom Hives, the Global Environment Facility and the Dominica Bee Keepers Cooperative Society Ltd.
In more recent times the Society has received assistance from the Global Environmental Facility (GEF). Up-to-date equipment which meets Food Safety Standards, allows the Society to be able to bottle honey without physically handling the produce. Other assistance provided by GEF comes in the form of technical, and management of financing just to name a few.
Honey is one of nature’s wonders and when one uses honey especially produced by Pure Blossom Hives Cooperative Society Ltd; it takes you beyond just its great natural taste as its benefits are plenty. It can be used for a variety of home and health-related remedies not forgetting treatment for some illnesses and a vitamin supplement. Stirring some honey into a cup of tea or pouring it on top of a biscuit is a breath taking experience that leaves one marveling at the versatility of honey.
A few uses of honey are weight loss, indigestion, anti-cellulite, pregnancy, bladder infections, bad breath, heart diseases, arthritis and hair loss.
Pure Blossoms Hives Cooperative recommends that the next time you are feeling tired in the middle of the day; you may wish to reconsider purchasing an expensive energy drink. Instead use the natural, less expensive, and far more economical alternative Pure Blossom Honey and you will be rejuvenated.
As a Cooperative we join our hands and voices in the celebration of 2012 International Year of Cooperatives as we seek to raise the awareness of cooperatives in the development of our nation.

I am sure this honey tastes nicer than the ones they sell here. Over six years ago a French West Indian woman gave me some from her brother. I have never forgotten the perfume and taste. I didn’t know that honey tastes so good.Since that time, I hesitate to buy in the stores. I can’t wait to purchase some PURE BLOSSOM. I am already seeing myself drinking a big gorgee right from the bottle, and licking my lips with contentment. AaaaHHH it tastes so GOOD!!!
Great move. Thinking long-term, Farmers, like other businesses need to form themselves into cooperatives. It is so logical that there is greater strength in numbers.
