A warning to pastors: don’t baptize fornicators

letter to the editorDear editor,

I do not hereby wish to dictate to any pastor what he or she should do. However, we should think of pleasing the true and living God.

A major concern that has been affecting people in times past and especially in recent times is the fact that a number of pastors and other leaders of religions have been tolerating and accepting practices contrary to Bible standards.

For instance, some pastors are baptizing persons who are well-known fornicators. The Scriptures are very clear when it comes to God’s view on fornication.

Acts 15:20, 29 say to abstain from fornication among other things. (See also 1 Thessalonians 4:3; 1 Corinthians 6:18).

1 Corinthians 6:9, 10 mention that fornicators will not inherit the kingdom of God. Interestingly, the very next verse, verse 11 shows that some who used to practice fornication stopped that practice. Yes, they stopped being fornicators and were now washed, sanctified, in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the spirit of our God.

Hence, such ones were NOT baptized fornicators. They had changed first and got baptized, becoming holy servants of God.

Further, 1 Corinthians 5:11-13 speak against a brother being a fornicator, saying that the faithful Corinthian brothers were not even to keep company with such a fornicating brother, not even to eat with him. Verse 13 says that such a brother who was fornicating was to be “put away” from among them.

Since God is so SERIOUS about a BAPTIZED brother who is a fornicator, are we to expect that he would willingly accept the baptism of someone who is a practicing fornicator, accepting such a person as his holy servant? How absurd!

Are we turning people away from God? So Pastors etc., remember that we all have to give to God an account for our actions. Romans 14:12. Are we truly Christlike? Would Christ have baptized fornicators? NO WAY. Pastors, heed the warning implied above! This is SERIOUS business!!!

Why does discussion about the bible always cause so much uproar.

    • May 12, 2014

Because people don’t want to hear the truth when it infringes on their way of living.

The Bible says, “Men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deed should be reproved.” John 3:19,20)

The physical bondage of slavery is no more. We still have the mental bondage of religion and the Bible to keep our minds enslaved. We still pray to the God of our captors and look upon their likeness as our saviour and defend it without question. Didnt our ancestors have to die or accept their God by force? What other race follows the God of their former slavemasters? One day my people will wake up from this and realise that we are Gods. Its Cesare Borgia on the cross and he wasnt born in Bethlehem. The internet is free and so can your mind be, but some cant let go of captivity.

“The fact still remains, however that the bible is as applicable to us in the 21st century as the Quran or the other holy texts” (Anti-Religious).

Anti-religious, indeed the Bible is a Book, which contains the Holy word of God, it a book of prophecy, science and history, and is certain applicable to our very existence in the twenty-century, and no one can refute or dispute that. However, where it pertains to the Quran, I cannot accept that it is a holy, and certainly cannot be compared to the Bible.

I read that too, and if we are to make comparisons, you will find that the Quran always reference the Bible, however the Bible never reference the Quran.

The Quran is a book which derived from the greatest liar, the father, of lies, and the greatest counterfeiter the world has ever know!

Remember he showed Jesus all the kingdoms of the world, and told Jesus if he worship him he would give them all to him? As for all the other books and the doctrines they teach, they are false doctrines about God, no matter how ancient they are!

If they are not text from the original scrolls, as the king James version of the Bible, I have no need for their doctrine.

      Francisco:

I appreciate your stand for the Bible.

A famous author by the professional name of Mark Twain was once asked if the parts of the Bible he did not understand bothered him. His reply was “No. It is the parts I do understand that bother me.”

Every once in a while somebody on DNO lets loose with a blast of ridicule against the Bible. The worse thing is when they place the Bible along side the Quran and other so called “holy books”.

They need to look at the social and political chaos the counties are in where the believers in these other “holy” books live, and worship their non-existing gods. There are riots, violence, terrorism, mass murder and bloodshed everywhere. Thousands upon thousands of people are fleeing these countries to find a better life. They come to Canada and the USA seeking refugee status.

Jesus Christ is the greatest proof that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. He taught that the entire Old Testament is absolutely true and trustworthy. He also said He was the Son of God and the only Savior. Of course any fool could say these things. But this man also prophesied His own death and said He would rise again on the third day! ON THE MORNING OF THE THIRD DAY WHEN HE STEPPED OUT OF THAT TOMB HE VALIDATED ALL HIS CLAIMS :!:

Some of the DNO commentators take great joy in talking down to Christians. They speak to us as if we believe the Bible because we are uneducated and don’t know any better. This is such a joke. They don’t know  that science has left them behind! A recent study showed that 44% of the Ph.D. scientists in the USA now attend church on a regular basis.

For all the DNO readers who think the Genesis account of creation is a myth or fable I have a suggestion. I want you to read the books CREATION by Grant Jeffrey, Ph.D. and SCIENCE IN THE BIBLE by Jean Morton, Ph.D. Then I would like you to read GENESIS AND THE BIG BANG, THE SCIENCE OF GOD, and THE HIDDEN FACE OF GOD, all by Gerald Schroeder, Ph.D. Get started because you have some catching up to do. If you can find one error in the writings of any one of these scientists in the evidence they present for the accuracy of the Bible and the Genesis account of creation please let me know and share YOUR evidence. But until then don’t mock the Bible. There are knowledgeable Christians able to face off with you and we have some heavy weights in our corner!
One of us might challenge you to a public debate.

People don’t reject the Bible on scientific grounds because there are none. They do it on moral grounds! They don’t want to obey the commandments of God and live as He says we must live.

The worst thing is when they do not accept the Word of God they do not have God’s plan for their eternal salvation that is found in verses like:

      Romans 3:23, Romans 5:12, 1 Corinthians 15:3,4, 1 John 1:7, John 3:16, Romans 5:1, Ephesians 2:8,9,
      Revelation 3:20.

    What other sins are there?

Jealousy, Envy, Murder, Stealing, False Witness. Covet your neighbour’s wife/husband, Covet your neighbour property and so on. Even our thoughts are sinful.

Which of them including fornication will not make us see the gates of Heaven without asking for forgiveness from up on high? If we are talking about sin the pastor should talk of all sins.

Only sinners live on earth and that is each and everyone of us. No living person is a saint. But we can all repent and ask God for forgiveness and try to live a less sinful life.

    • January 14, 2014

The truth is the pastor DOES speak about these other sins!

However, fornication is in a class by itself. The
Bible says “Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without (outside of apart from) the body. But he that commiteth fornication sinneth against his own body.” ( 1 Corinthians 6:18)

Fornication strikes at the sanctity and the very foundation of marriage. The Lord Jesus said, “… Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Therefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let no man put asunder.” (Matthew 19:4-6)

The word “fornication” is a translation of the Greek word “porneia” which mean illicit sex. It includes premarital sex, extra marital sex, homosexuality, and lesbianism.

Sex is so important because it relates to every department of life. Fornication has become a major issue in society today bringing all the scares and heart aches that come with violating God’s moral code. It has become necessary for pastors to speak more on this subject than they would like to.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Pentecostal Evangelist.

Perhaps you should read 1 Corinthians 6:9,10 to answer your question.

This kind of question is asked by somebody who wants to excuse a particular sin.

I thought sin was a heart and thoughts condition vs. the character of Christ.
You sound like a perfect person who has no need of God, how do you know these peoples are in sin. Instead of pointing the finger why don’t you pray and intercede on their behalf, instead of yourself righteous attitude cover them in prayer. Maybe they are trying, or maybe it’s a familiar spirit or generational struggle, you don’t know.
You may not have their lifestyle, but what about your thought life, or the meditation of your heart.
Hum….you might not be struggling in the same areas as they are but for sure you are not perfect. Be grateful to God that he allow you to see this, now you should do something like praying not a additional critic of the body of Christ, .Do you think that the heart of God is expressed in your critic of his children, do you know their heart or motives I do think . It’s also written that when you think that you are strong be mindful that you fall because pride would have creep into your heart ,so be careful when you judge because the same measure will be given back to you. We are reminded not to judge anything before it’s time.

    • August 4, 2014

“…how do you know these people are in sin?”

Because if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it IS a duck :!:

If people are committing the sins of 1 Corinthians 6:9,10 (or those listed in any other passage of scripture for that matter) obviously they are sinning.

If GOD says an act is a sin and a person is committing that act that is HOW we know they are sinning! It is not rocket science. It is common sense! If I myself am committing the act of course I am also sinning!

A sin may be a mind and thoughts condition. Or it may be a body and deeds condition. There are sins of the mind and sins of the body. Some sins of the mind sometimes lead to sins of the body. But this can hardly be used as an excuse to sin.

A familiar spirit? A generational struggle? Very possible. These things may be the source of their problem. But they do not make the person’s actions any less sinful. The issue is DID HE DO IT? not WHY DID HE DO IT?

Sincerely , Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist.

If the Pastor is aware that the person is leaving in fornication he should not baptize I say should not baptize that person. Therefore pastors need to discipline persons before baptism. Baptism is an example of what Christ did. Christ was sinless but for man First repent and be baptism. Someone should be their own examiner. If you are a fornicator don’t ask to be baptized.

excuse me baptism! Check your bible and find out why did jesus get baptized. I see so many unnecessary comments here. This editorial can be looked at in many different angles, but some of us seem to look at it in the negative way. If a pastor or preacher is said to represent god that is to ensure that the people he teaches learn and practice what god says he should NOT baptize a fornicator. However, the question is how will he no that the person is one. The bible said that god gave up the people in lots time to loose conduct because the men and women changed the natural use of themselves men with men, women with women working what is obscene therefore any immoral conduct can be referred to as fornication. People let us not just cry down people sometimes we have to be objective and always look at the other side of what the person may be saying.

King James, who commissioned his guys to translate the Bible to English, was one of the biggest sinners in his time, a Gay, so why do Christians judge gay people, and or “sinners”? Leave all judgement to the one who created the universe. There were many books that were omitted from the christian bible. The Christian bible is a two edged sword and has done more harm than good to humanity. I hope you, the author, does not eat pork because it is as grave a sin as what you’re talking about in your article, based on you all’s bible stuff. Gone are the days of ignorance. Those who have eyes have seen and those who have ears have heard.

Here’s a partial list of the books that were hidden from the masses of the people:

    1. Judith
    2. Tobit/Tobias
    3. 1 Maccabees
    4. 2 Maccabees
    5. 3 Maccabees
    6. 4 Maccabees
    7. Wisdom
    8. Sirach/Ecclesiasticus
    9. Baruch
    10. Letter of Jeremiah
    11. Prayer of Manasseh

So now, Christians, stop casting stones and be still for the world knows the truth!

    • May 12, 2014

These books are not hidden from anybody. I have them in my library and I have read them.

They were not included in our Bible because:

      (a) The Jews of Bible days did not recognize them as sacred scriptures to be read in the temple or synagogues.

      (b) They scriptures of the Old Testament were divided into three groups. 1. The Law, 2. The Prophets, and 3. The Writings. These other books were not included in any of these three groups.

      (c) Christ did not endorse any of these other books .He did not quote from then. He did not preach from them.

      (d) The early church did not accept any of them.

      (e) They do not claim to be the Word of God. Again and again in the books of the Bible we read words like “Thus saith the LORD, …” giving the passage a certain ring of authority. This is missing in these other books.

      (f) The Bible is one book. From Genesis to Revelation it tells one continuous story and follows one theme even though it was written by approximately 45 authors over 1,500 or more years. This is the miracle of the Bible! The other books would be out of place in this sacred volume. They do not relate to the accepted books nor share their theme!

      (g) The authors of these other books cannot be verified. They are not generally known and had no standing in either the Jewish or Christian communities. The accepted books of the Old Testament were written by Hebrew prophets, kings, scribes who can be verified by other writings of the day, either sacred or historical. The New Testament books were written by the apostles of Christ – men hand picked by Him, or in several cases by men who were close associates and travelling companions of the apostles.

      (h) The books of the Old and New Testaments contain hundreds of authentic prophecies of things then future which have actually happened! For example the O.T. foretold the coming of Jesus Christ the Messiah. It said he would be of the Jewish race, the Nation of Israel, the tribe of
Judah, the family of David, his mother would be a virgin maiden, He would be born in Bethlehem. The Old Testament prophecies foretold how Christ would die and be raised to life again! There are many other prophecies relating to various nations, and even world empires that were written before they even existed. Some of these have been fulfilled. Others are yet for a future time.

None of the other books you speak of contain the miracle of authentic prophecy nor do any of the so called “holy” books of the great world religions. Only Christianity has such a book!

There is no book like the Bible. It reveals our sins and shows us our Savior. Those who confess that they are lost sinners and by faith receive Christ as their personal Savior will be saved for time and for eternity.

      The Bible says:

“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.” (Acts 16:31)

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is no other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist.

If John Doe tells pastor he wants to change his life and get baptized, and the night before sleeps with a woman, then that is between John Doe and God.
If John Doe is living in a house with his girlfriend and burst a shot the morning before baptism, that is also between John Doe and God.

If Pastor knows about the situation then it is up to him to speak to John Doe and make a decision and that will be between pastor and God.

Christianity is a journey and not all who profess to be Christians even understand what it is about. A lot of us are caught in sin, a lot of us see fornication as the only sin. We should all go before the Lord as the sinners that we all are. If we were to wait to begin living a perfect life, we would never stop waiting and never go before God. He works in mysterious ways and he wants us to come.

    • August 4, 2014

Of course if a man fornicates it is between him and God. But you miss the point entirely :!:

If a pastor KNOWS a person has committed fornication 8-O and has NOT repented he should not baptize the person in such a condition.

If the individual has not received Christ as his or her personal Savior by trusting His shed blood – and His shed blood alone – for his or her salvation – an evangelical pastor will want to lead the person into this experience first before baptism. :-x

If a person is a Christian who has fallen into sin  it is the pastor’s responsibility to lead that individual through the steps of repentance and restoration before baptizing him or her.

John the Baptist refused to baptize certain people. He told some of the candidates to first “…Bring forth fruits meet unto repentance.” This means simply “Show the evidence that you have repented (turned your life around).”

Some very sincere pastors err because they simply take people at face value and don’t have all the information they need to make a wise decision before approving a person for baptism. Personally, I tied to avoid this during my years of pastoral ministry by having the candidates meet with myself and the local church leaders privately for an interview. After a few basis questions I would ask “Does anybody else have anything you would like to say?” This is a scriptural practice. Peter once challenged the believers before doing a baptism by asking “Can any man forbid water that these should not be baptized?”

I have carefully read this letter several times and endorse it entirely. The writer seems to be caring Christian with a godly interest in the work of God. This is somebody I would probably welcome to serve as an elder or deacon in any church I pastored.

“can anyone forbid” is in context to gentiles who received the Holy Spirit. The point was that God pre-approved these men so no Jew could deny them because they are gentiles. This has nothing to do with background checking those being baptized. The Ethiopian Eunuch for instanced accept Christ and was baptized plain and simple.

First of all Baptism has nothing to do with salvation.
Just lie my wedding band don’t make or keep me married.

Secondly, When a man recieves God’s Gift, Jesus Christ, for salvation. HE IS FORGIVEN. It is no longer his rightousness, He is clothed in the Rightousness of Jesus Christ. Ish 61;10

Thirdly, who are you to warn a Pastor. I will wtand accountable to God for my actions… and so will you.. Be carful how you judge.. For the same judgment will be meter back to you :-(

    • August 11, 2016

      Preacher, I agree with you.

Baptism only washes away our sins in a figurative or symbolic way.

Like the old gospel hymn says

What can wash away my sins :?:
Nothing but the blood of Jesus :!:
What can make me whole again :
Nothing but the blood of Jesus :!:

Baptism is an outer sign of what has already happened inwardly the moment we believed.

The thief on the cross was not baptised but the Lord said ”This day shalt thou be with me in paradise.”

The Lord Jesus had no sins to wash away but He was baptised. He became an example for us. Our sins disappear into the crimson flow of blood the moment we trust Christ! Then we are baptised!

If a person is still intentionally practicing sin or committing an ongoing sin it suggests he (she) has not been made a ”new creature” in Christ.

”Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

“Would Christ have baptized fornicators? NO WAY”. News Article

“Witness to the Evidence” I don’t know who you are to think that you can ask such question about Jesus–even to answer it, but Mr. Mrs. or Miss I am telling that your message above has told me that you know nothing about God Almighty and His work in this world.

First all here is what Jesus said to the Pharisees who complained the He ate and drink with tax collectors and other sinners–whatever the sin they were committing. So Jesus said to them: “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick, they do. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance”—Read this at Matthew 9 in the Bible.

I would not disagree with you if you had said that many people are baptized without understanding why they do so; it is true as well, that leaders of the Churches baptize people for all the wrong reasons, but that opinion, idea, or warning of yours above is a bold face “nonsense”!

Remember also, that as Jesus was ascending into heaven He commissioned His disciples saying: “All authority is given to Me in Heaven and on Earth, go therefore, and make disciples of men, teaching them to baptize in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit”–the Name is Jesus Christ.

So in Jesus’ opinion the first step to God Almighty is the act of baptism–which denotes the cleansing or washing that Holy Spirit will begin to perform by the faith of the person who is baptized–this work can only be done by Him and Him alone.

See my conclusion in the next post.

    • November 12, 2013

Baptism is the manner by which a person enters mind renewal, the process by which a person will to die (become lost) to the demands of the flesh and to know Life (found in the ways of Love)the attitude and conduct of Jesus Christ, who is our Redeemer. All of this must happen by faith and the Power of Holy Spirit in that person.

As Jesus said to the unbelieving Pharisees, a healthy person does not need a physician; He used that physical example to explain the main reason He walked this Earth when He told the Pharisees “I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance” –so who are you to suggest that Jesus would not baptize and person of fornication?

But there is one more thing! Did you pick “fornication” because that is the only sin that you do not commit?

Well may I inform you, that according to our Holy God Almighty in Spirit and Truth, we all entered this world with a sinful nature, stained by the sinful rebellion of our first parents Adam and Eve. That sinful nature of ours is under the control of our humans senses, the seeds are sown on the grounds of our mind in its carnal condition–without the guidance and protection of Holy Spirit, we remain dead in our trespasses–whatever the act we are tempted to perform.

We would not have had the privileged to stand before our God of Spirit in Love and Righteousness, had He not been a God of mercy and compassion. For because of His Love God Almighty put on flesh and bones, so to enter the world in His Person of Love–Jesus Christ–to take the blows of the cross in our behalf–the ransom He paid in replacement for our judgment of eternal death.

Jesus died that we might live; and so baptism is the method by which we die to our sinful self and to live with Jesus as a new creature with a brand new Life–read this truth at Romans 6. If a pastor or any Church leader is aware of this truth and would choose to deny baptism to the soul who is in its lost condition, then woe would be unto him or her.

And now, I suggest that you get rid of that nonsense of your mind–for it is not of our God of Love–the Life which belongs in the soul, when it is awakened or quickened by the Light of Jesus Christ.

      November 12, 2013

Behind the sarcasm lies an interesting theoretical conundrum – That is a good question!

    • November 12, 2013

      Robert:

As a servant of God I feel it is my responsibility to caution you.

We must be very careful how we speak about the Holy Spirit. God has struck people dead for less than you have done in your comments today.

I will also caution DNO. There are things said by commentators on DNO that should never be posted.
People should not be allowed to deny or mock the inspiration and authority of the Holy Bible, or ridicule the Holy Trinity, or slander the Lord Jesus, or make jokes about Mary who is “blessed among women.” Yes, you can tell me if I don’t like what is posted I don’t have to read it. That is not the point. Thousands of people around the world ARE reading DNO and being defiled by this vulgarity. God will hold you responsible. I pray His judgment will not fall upon Dominica.

There are heathen religions that would put out a contract on a person’s life, or destroy their homes or offices, if they spoke disrespectfully about their “prophet” or ridiculed their “holy’ book. Do you realize that Christianity is the only one of the world’s great religions that allows people to get away with this? The only reason we do not strike back with physical force is because Jesus Christ told us not to! He taught the way of peace. But He also said in His own time He would punish His enemies.

Robert, there is absolutely no comparison between the blessed virgin Mary being made pregnant by the life giving power of the Spirit and women fornicating with men and becoming pregnant. The first is spiritual. The second is physical.

When you throw a rock at a pack of dogs the one that yelps is the one that got hit. When a DNO publishes a letter or a comment calling fornication sin and warning of the consequences of violating this moral commandment in the Word of God there is not a yelp, there is a collective howl!

When people want to defend themselves they will say the most ridiculous things that are totally void of any objective logic. They will try to turn the attention of the readers away from the subject by bringing up something that is totally irrelevant.

You are going to have to bow to what God says. He is the Creator and He DOES have a right to tell us how to live. If you don’t believe this look closely at any nation or society where fornication is common and accepted (wink, wink) as an O.K. thing. See the scared lives, broken families, financial problems, and social discord. Behold the mess!

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Pentecostal Evangelist.

Hill, DNO is simply a conduit through which people express their opinions, as a result they afford everyone the same opportunity to speak. I agree that certain garbage should to make it through, however, censorship should not be the resolve.

As for the comments of that person, one can only draw a few conclusions, either this person does not know anything about theism; and though the word theism defines many gods, when I use the word theism here, I am saying the person has no belief in the existence of the one God some of us know as the creative source of man, and the world who transcends, yet is immanent in the world.

An attack on the Holy Sprit is the un-pardonable sin, every man woman and child have to suffer the consequences for our conduct, wether it is good or evil

Some people like to talk foolishness simply because they want to draw attention to themselves, even if it means digging their very own grave as this person has done; his only hope as far as I am concern, is to seek Jehovah forgiveness, Nevertheless if what he conveyed is the un-pardonable sin, the damage may have already been done!

Should I pity him, feel sorry, for him, I don’t know; however something is certainly wrong with the person’s mind.

Again and again the New Testament tells us to ”Repent and be baptised, …”

We cannot be baptised until we have repented which means to turn away from sin.

Unscriptural and unethical ”pastors” will sometimes baptise people who are living in sin because all they care about is ”building up the work”. This is a term we often hear in church circles from religious leaders.
”Professional” pastors are not necessarily true shepherds. Their main concern is to build their base of support. Sometimes they are under pressure from their denominational leaders. They know if the church does not grow while they are there they can be replaced.

I encourage you to find a church that is loyal to the Word of God and follows the New Testament pattern.

      Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

This letter is sure to stir up a flurry of nasty comments in certain areas because it touches a nerve both in those who like to indulge in carnel pleasures and in those who oversee congregations for their own gain but refuse to accept the New Testament as God’s standard for church government.

I agree with this letter. It is Biblical and timely. It should be read by the chairman at every denominational church conference to the ministerial members and the delegates from their churches. It should be read to the graduating class of every Bible college and seminary. Why? Because we have too many “career pastors” who are more intent on growing their churches one member at a time than in winning souls and conforming believers to the image of God’s Son.

The problem with this kind of article is that it doesn’t get read by the people who need to read it.

I would also appreciate it more if the author had signed his or her name! I don’t hesitate to put my name on my writings in spite of the fact that I say more brazen things!

Anyway, thanks for speaking out. The writer to the Epistle to the Hebrews didn’t sign his name either!

For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God. I wonder if the writer have seen this part of the Bible. And, Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost. Jesus said that.

So if ALL have sinned, it means that none of us is righteous, including the writer of this article. If someone comes to me as a minister to be baptized, who am I to judge the person. As God’s servant you must not refuse anyone, the person has to make it right with God.
I’ve never seen a Holy person get baptized, only sinners. After baptizen the person continue to build his/her relationship with God, learn more about Him, and is being changed, GRADUALLY.

So if the pastors don’t baptized the fornicators how the pastors going make money. Not all the pastors have the nerve to ask for $50 K on their birthday; not all pastors get women that work in hardware store to give them money and pay their telephone bills. Not all pastors getting money from the corrupt supremo.

It is funny how these religious people make fools of themselves. Over what ? A bible that is so hypocritical, inconsistent, bias and prejudice. Do these religious fanatic realize that those religious books like the bible, Koran etc were all written by self serving corrupt men. Men who were chauvinists, misogynists, corrupt socio-religious politicians whose sole intension was to solidify a class kast system where they could sit up high and dictate to the lower class how to live their lives

    • November 12, 2013

      Lang Mama:

I served as pastor of six churches for periods of one to eight years in Canada before beginning Living Hope Ministries which is an organization
devoted to international evangelism and Bible teaching.

Baptizing people is part of he great commission the Lord Jesus gave us in Matthew 28:18-20. We preach the gospel and baptize believers. Then we teach the the principles of the Christian life and
the great 2,000 year old doctrines of the church.

One of the principles of the Christian life is something called stewardship. This includes but is not limited to what we do with our money. Part of this is the fact that we are to financially support with our gifts and offerings a Bible believing New Testament church.

Pastors are paid by their churches, usually in the form of a salary paid weekly, maybe bi-weekly, perhaps monthly.

In a small congregation you are apt to find a dedicated pastor who does not receive enough pay from his church to live and support his family. But he is there because he believes that is where God wants him to labor for that period of time. Often he may be found working at another job on the side – sometimes a very humble job – to support his family. It is not unusual for a pastor’s wife to work outside the home to help out.

As a pastor I have worked in ALL these situations. It was a joy! I would do it again. There were those small congregations where I had to work at another job to balance the family budget. I also had several churches where I was paid so well I was almost ashamed to take the money from them.

But I want to clarify one thing. A pastor does NOT charge for baptizing somebody! Money is not mentioned at any time. If an individual wants to give an offering they may give it to the church. It would probably be dropped on the offering plate or in the offering bag depending on how the church does it, or handed to the treasurer of the church. Either way the treasurer would make a record of it in the church books and deposit it in the church bank account. The pastor would probably never hear about it.

The pastor’s duty is to minister the Word and ordinances without partiality. This way a man may be the poorest of the poor. But if he is a sincerely believer in Jesus Christ and meets the Biblical requirements for baptism I would consider it an honor to baptize him. If he was a rich man and was living a contrary and sinful life I would not baptize him! No amount of money can “buy” baptism!

Wedding and funerals are a different matter. A pastor often receives a financial expression of appreciation for a funeral service or a wedding. In the case of a wedding he may have a set fee and his should be discussed with him before the ceremony. However, a man of God would not turn away a poor family who needed his services because they were not able to pay him. I have personally done both weddings and funerals when I knew I would not receive one dollar. But allow me to say this. The Bible says “The laborer is worthy of his hire”. God’s ministers should not be taken advantage of. When it comes to

      • November 12, 2013

        Rev. Donald Hill, (continued…)

weddings and funerals there is a lot of work involved. In some countries the government requires the minister be especially licensed to perform weddings. When people are able to pay the servant of God they should do so and they should be generous! Why should they be generous? Because there are other times when he must give his time freely! It is an honor to bless this kind of pastor. He is a true shepherd of God’s people.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Pentecostal Evangelist.

Go and sin no more thats the word. These are-the people that has to come to the Lord. Why put blame on the pastors?

  23. November 11, 2013

DNO obviously has many “commentators” who either simply don’t know the Holy Scriptures or would knowingly twist them and put forth any argument to make excuses to cover their sins.

Fornication is an English translation of a New Testament Greek word that means illicit sexual intercourse. 8-O It covers any sexual relationship outside of a lawful Biblical marriage between a man and a woman. Fornication includes premarital sex and this is how the word is most commonly used. It also includes extra marital sex (adultery), homosexuality, and lesbianism. 8)

It is true we have all sinned in one way or another. However, fornication is in a class by itself. “Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that commiteth fornication sinneth against his own body.” (1 Corinthians 6:18) :-x

When a person becomes a Christian he or she repents (turns away from sin) and believes that Christ died for his or her sins. The Bible says “…the blood of Jesus Christ (God’s) Son cleanses from all sins.” ( 1 John 1:7) What a wonderful promise! Paul wrote “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:1) The word “justified” means to be made just as if we had never sinned! :-D

When we have this encounter with the risen Christ He changes us from the inside out. Paul also wrote “Therefore if any man be in Christ he is a new creature: old things have passed away; Behold all things have become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Evangelical pastors are mandated to baptize only believers: those who have experienced the cleansing of the blood of Jesus Christ, and have been made new by His grace. Water baptism is an outward visible sign of what has ALREADY happened inwardly.

The New Testament clearly teaches in 1 Corinthians 5 that if one who professes to be a Christian and is a member in a local church commits fornication – or one of the other sins listed in this chapter – AND REFUSES TO REPENT that person is to be “…put away…” vs.13. This means the person must be excommunicated or expelled from the membership of the church. It does not mean they cannot attend the services. It means they are no longer members. Christians who are in fellowship with the church are not to have social contact with the individual while he or she is under church discipline according to 1 Corinthians 5:11.

However, it should be understood that “excommunication” is not a death sentence. It is to show the one who has sinned the seriousness of the act and bring the individual to repentance. It is also intended to keep the house of God holy. When the person repents and is willing to acknowledge he or she did wrong the person can be restored and reinstated. Paul in his next letter to the church in Corinth in 2 Corinthians 2:6-8 told the believers they must forgive the one who is sorrowful and truly repents, and receive that one back.

It is obvious to Christians that fornication is a sin. Those who read Romans 1:21-32, 1 Corinthians 6:9,10, Galatians 5:21, Ephesians 5:1-7, 1 Thessalonians 4:3, 1 Timothy 1:9,10, and Jude vs. 7 will know this. Nothing is more pronounced in the Word of God than the consequences of fornication. “…they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.” (Galatians 5:21) and other scriptures.

Normally when people apply for baptism in a Bible believing New Testament church the pastor will ask them about the where and when of their conversion to Christ. Personal questions would likely be asked about their lifestyle. It would be very unusual for a pastor who is a true shepherd of the sheep (overseer of God’s people) to baptize somebody he or she knew was currently committing fornication. If sins of sexual immorality were part of that person’s past life before becoming a Christian we understand that those sins are washed away by the blood of Jesus, and “all things are become new.” ( 1 John 1:7) (2 Corinthians 5:17). Baptism symbolizes that the individual has died to the old life of sin and is risen to a new life of righteousness. (Romans 6:1-4) :-D If a pastor baptizes somebody who is presently committing fornication in the NOW of their life it is a contradiction of everything baptism stands for.

Unfortunately the pastor sometimes takes the candidate’s word for it when it comes to his or her personal life without inquiring closely enough. Consequently false professors (pretenders) are able to join the church. In time they bring reproach upon the testimony.

There are also cases where a pastor becomes careless. :-x In his desire to increase the membership of the church and expand his base of financial support :-P he compromises the New Testament principles for church government, and takes in unworthy people as members. These so called “churches” are or eventually become little more than social clubs. They attract a worldly crowd and grow like mushrooms in the darkness

What is needed in these the closing days of time is a revival of sound Bible teaching and a genuine outpouring of the Holy Ghost that will bring the churches back to New Testament Christianity. Have we forgotten that Jesus is coming for a bride without spot and without wrinkle… :?:

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Pentecostal Evangelist.

    i hope you sinless

    • September 3, 2016

      Don’t be foolish.

A pastor does not have to be sinless to govern the church according to the Bible, the Word of God. If this was the case no pastors would try to follow the Bible. Can you imagine the terrible mess things would be in?

God requires that we do things in the church according to the instructions He has given us. Not only that but we have “higher-ups” we must answer to such as bishops and superintendents who require us to do things in a Biblical way according to our constitution and by-laws.

A pastor is not perfect but he (she) must be sincere and keep his (her) personal life beyond approach. If a pastor commits a serious sin or is found to be “in sin” he (she) can be removed from the ministry. In my church this does not mean the individual is transferred to a different parish. It means the person cannot do ministry anywhere until he (or she) has) repented  shows genuine sorrow resulting in complete
      restitution.

      Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill…

Instead of calling on pastors to stop baptizing fornicators I believe you would be better off calling on them to stand for righteousness. Although water Baptism is essential to salvation, you should know that baptism just by itself does not save anyone and therefore whether a fornicator or sinless person is baptized, it means nothing unless the person is truly repented and has a broken heat before God.
You should call on pastors and priests to stand against wrong doing by those in authority instead of upholding their evils. After all, we have a PM that is surrounded with men of God to the point where he even pays some for spiritual advise. Yet, this PM seems to be a perfect example of what is wrong and yet he pastors, evangelists, and priests are upholding his evils. You need to write these pastors and ask them to stand up for what is right because it is righteousness that exalts a nation and not baptisms. Tell them as servants of God they need to follow the examples of Jesus, Paul, James, Peter, Isaiah, Elijah, Elisha and others who often rebuked evil politicians when they were off track instead of befriending them like those local pastors, evangelists, bishops, and priests are not doing. They should be bold enough to tell them it is wrong to be corrupt, rude, and allow other to refer to them as Jesus. They need to tell them that it is WRONG to take another person’s wife instead of marrying them in secret.

Baptism is an act of burying your sins and Christ came for the sinners not for the righteous

    • November 12, 2013

      Yes indeed!

    • November 12, 2013

Baptism is an act of burying somebody who has died: it is a person who has been crucified with Christ according to Galatians 2:20, and now wants to be buried with him in baptism according to Colossians 2:12.

We don’t bury somebody who is still alive so
they will die. We don’t bury a person in baptism so the old sinful fallen (Adam) nature in them will die and they will eventually stop fornicating!

When you understand the symbolism of baptism you will know why a true pastor – a genuine shepherd of God’s sheep – will not baptize somebody he or she KNOWS is still fornicating. It is the fleshly (Adam) nature – the old fallen nature – that commits these sins. The Bible says “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, … they which do such things shall NOT inherit the kingdom of God.” (Galatians 5:19-21). This is the nature within us that was nailed to the cross with Christ. Paul said, “I am crucified with Christ:…” (Galatians 2:20) Baptism is when we bury that old sinful self which has already been crucified that we might be “Buried with him in baptism…” (Colossians 2:12)

When Christ was crucified God was punishing Him for our sins. He was dying our death. It’s like this: When HE died WE died! In fact we are saved when we accept His death as the payment for our sins.

Baptism is our outward testimony to the world that we were crucified with Christ and we now purpose to act as if that old sinful fallen (Adam) nature is dead! We are burying the old self!

This is what happens when you take the bible as literal truth handed down by some deity in the sky as his personal prescription on how we should live.

Ok. I’ll play along. SO god supposedly gave the bible to man through his “prophets” or whatnot. Ok. I’ll bite. So some, guy in one of those many books says that fornication is bad. Ok. What about the guy in one of the older books who had hundreds of concubines? Wasn’t that fornication? That guy was “a man after god’s own heart”. Maybe god let that slide. His son was the wisest man ever – if the tales are to believed. Yet he also had many, many concubines.

Ok Ok. Perhaps god changed his mind for the new testament era. I wish he’d though everything through before he wrote the ten commandments – or the other 600 plus commandments he gave to the nation of Israel in the desert. It would have been helpful to have all of that down before his son came through, don’t you think?

Me? I think the bible has very little value for us in the 21 century. Blasphemy, you say? Oh, do you take the Hindu holy books as sacred? What about the Muslim holy books? Or what about the holy books of any other deity that has ever been worshiped on the face of this earth – and there has been a few, quite a few. If you don’t take those books as sacred or having value in today’s world, then you understand a little about why I don’t take your own sacred book as relevant either.

Baptisms are archaic and pointless. Looking down on someone who decides to have sex while unmarried is archaic and pointless. Humanity has moved passed much of that BS over the last few centuries. Now you want to drag us back?

So, called anti-religion, if you had taken the Bible in a literal sense, you would not be a lose soul, and a lost cause.

Although there are many parables spoken by Jesus Christ, anyone who takes the time to humble themselves, and study the word of God, so that they can rightly divide the word of truth, and know it would not find themselves in the predicament in which you are as an Anti-religion.

The fact that you said literal, indicates you must be anti-God anti-Christ also. But, remember the Bible teaches “the fool said in his heart there is no God.” I must ask is that your position?

You had better take the Bible literally, because even when you read a parable, ad do not understand it, if you continue to read long enough, the Sprit will reveal the meaning to you. If you decide to understand the Bible based on your intellect, you have already lost, the battle, and only God can bring you back out of the path of destruction!

Apparently, you take offense towards my critical analysis of the holy book you hold dear. And just so we are clear, I do not mind being a lost cause to you, sir. How great it is that I do not live to satisfy your opinion on the idea of the existence of a deity. I am free to make up my own mind on the matter, in spite of your disapproval.

Also, you do realize that you are using the bible to justify the bible, right? I think that’s called circular reasoning, which is not recommended when arguing a point.

The fact still remains, however that the bible is as applicable to us in the 21st century as the Quran or the other holy texts. Books written for a time and place that is so far removed from what we know and understand today that it would look alien to us if we were to take a time machine and go back there.

Of course, you are free to live according to every last dot written in those books, if you so desire. Just don’t go and prescribe that the rest of society should do the same.

One last request: please stop postulating that I am on some path of destruction just because I do not subscribe to your theology. You do realize that more than two thirds of the world do not subscribe to Christiany (or any of its many, many variants). Are you condemning two thirds of the world to “destruction” as well?

“Although there are many parables spoken by Jesus Christ” @Francisco Telemaque November 11, 2013

Do not use this response to write anything bad to me–otherwise who will believe that you sentiment above is genuine.

I am not contending against your saying; I simply want to add that Jesus used parables–the way He could point our the Spiritual meaning of His teachings. Life is of the Spirit and everything to do with Life must be grounded in the Essence Love–which is Life all in all.

You should have noticed that each time Jesus was about to start a teaching in parable He would say: The Kingdom of God is like this: But He needed to us material examples of which the people would be able to understand by their measure of faith and the revelations of Holy Spirit.

When Jesus’ disciples once asked Him, why did He speak in parable to the people? Jesus told them that they had the ability to know the mystery of God’s Kingdom, but those people did not have that ability–in other words Jesus needed that the people applied faith to deal with Him and His teachings of Life, that is the same with us today.

But of course, all sorts of people today–whether they be congregation, pastors, preachers, priests, bishop and pope–still have a lot of trouble understanding the message of Life in the Holy Bible, for all sorts of reasons, which the basic is the lack of faith –such is that person above whom you have responded to.

This nonsense about people taking the Bible ”literally” must end.

How else would you take the Bible :?:

If your doctor gives you a prescription with the instructions printed on it would you follow the instructions
literally or would you interpret them :?:

If you need surgery would you want a ”literal” surgeon or a figurative one :?:

If you were drowning would you want a ”literal” lifeguard” or a pretend lifeguard :?:

If you are boarding a jet to make an overseas trip would want you want a ”literal” pilot or an imposter :?:

The Bible was given to us to show us how to be saved and live a life pleasing to God. Nothing is more important. The commands of God and the instructions HE gives us must be taken literally. There is no other way.

We ask you to honor God and respect His people. Please do not write as if we are illiterates.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Ph.D. (Biblical Studies) Evangelist.

gay people more deserving of baptism

    • August 10, 2016

You show no evidence of knowing what the Word of God says about homosexuality.

      Romans 1:26,27
      1 Corinthians 6:9,10
      1 Timothy 1:9,10
      Jude vs. 7

Fornication comes from the Greek word ”porneia” which means illicit sex. It includes homosexuality which is a more serious form of fornication than pre-marital sex because (1) it is contrary to nature (Romans 1:26,27, and (2) it goes against God’s model for marriage and human sexuality (Matthew 19:4-6)

      Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

who are you really to judge?

    • September 3, 2016

      We do not judge.

We simply tell you what the Judge says.

I was ordained (appointed) by the church to preach and teach the Holy Scriptures. This is my “job” although we do not like to call it a “job”. It is what a minister of the church does whether he (she) is a bishop, pastor, or evangelist. Our responsibility includes telling, explaining, or teaching what the Bible says, and how it applies to people’s lives.

Please don’t call this “judging”. A police officer is not a judge. A lawyer is not a judge. These people tell you what the law says. In the same sense a bishop, pastor, or evangelist tells you what God says in the Bible. We hope you will listen and stay out of trouble.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist. 8)

The pastors are in no position to judge anyone since they are they the most promiscuos people in the church. And I am talking about all the churches from Catholic to Pentecostal and Baptist. They have the most bacchanal in those churches but they have learned to keep it hush hush while they come on the pulpit on Sunday singing the praises of God.

They are all a bunch of hypocrites.

      I feel you. Pokwit SOB(s).

    • September 3, 2016

What you say is simply NOT true.

However, if you have PROOF that a pastor is living that way you have an obligation to report him (her) to their superior which would be their bishop or superintendent. In my church this is taken very seriously so be careful what you say. You must have proof because you will be required to appear before a “church court” and present your evidence. This is only fair because if the pastor is found guilty he (she) probably will be removed from the ministry and replaced. We do not allow anybody to tell such damning lies about one of our pastors.

The ordained pastor is God’s representative. He (she) is literally an ambassador of Christ. This is why such a high standard is required of the pastor. It is why God will not allow anybody to touch them. They are HIS :!:

All sin is sin. When Pastors mess with church members and it becomes public knowledge even scandal and members support them in their wrong, isn’t it sin also?

    • August 10, 2016

If you have PROOF a pastor is sinning with a church member you should report him – or have him reported – to his superior. This would be his bishop, superintendent, or overseer.

First you must have proof. You should know that the sin is continuing. If it happened in the past and he has sincerely repented and been cleansed that is a different matter. In that case if you should pray for him but not get involved.

How can you know if he has repented :?: You don’ t unless he tells you. Or if he confessed it openly then it is public knowledge and there is no reason to pursue it. Don’t talk about it. Don’t spread the story. This is very bad. It can cause great damage.

The question to ask is ”What reason do I have to think this sin still happening and is ongoing in the pastor’s life :?: If you have no reason and PROOF to think this please pray for the man and forget the matter.

      Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. Matthew 6:14-15

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 9.
Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea. Micah 7: 18-19

So my friend, brother/sister, If a man commeth to the alter to be baptized, who are you, the pastors ect, to deny them that forgiveness, when the Lord God, will accept him.

Please stop using the Bible as a tool of destruction, but use it instead as a tool of inclusion, love and forgiveness.

    One Love Dominicans!!!

The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him; Daniel 9:9.

“A warning to pastors: don’t baptize fornicators”

My question to that above, would be how does a preacher determine whom is a fornicator, who is not?

Baptism is something which comes after one has repented (change their mind) and decide to no longer deliberately indulge in sin. When someone repents, and have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, as they must ask forgiveness for their sins; then Baptism follows!

That person now becomes a follower of Jesus, and they may fellowship in some Church of their choice. Now although the Bible does not teach that if one is not baptized they are disqualified from fellowship, assuming that the person whom just became a Christian went to the pasture, and say to him; I want to be baptized.

    What should the preacher do?

Are you suggesting the preacher probe the person, and ask specific questions such as “are you a fornicator before baptizing the person?

I do not have the answer to that, what I do no is that al have sin and fall short of the glory of God, and unless we know the truth about an individual, we have to be careful not to e judgmental. Now if your argument was; preachers should avoid condoning and accepting homosexuality, as something normal, baptizing and marrying homosexuals, and lesbians then I would support your warning to the preachers.

That would be a different situation, since they are open and in defiant of God words, and doctrines!

On the other hand fornication is basically performing sexual intercourse when we are not married and that is marriage between a man and a woman!

    Francisco Etienne-Dods Telemaque

Thank you for the warning. I have a slightly different angle …

fornicators Jesus loves you and he died to save you from your sins. Give him your heart today and become part of the family of God. That is what the Father wants … and I would know because he says it in his Word. I too use to be a sinner and now I am a saint because of Jesus. He will do the same for you since he has no favourites.

Dear witness to Evidence: There is also the biblical quote “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God”, however if you repent of your sin you will be cleansed. Also, “Christ did not come to bring the virtuous to repentance but the sinner”. How about “Judge not that you yourself will not be judged”? So what are you talking about? Is fornication the only sin? I am not about to list a litany of sins for you because since you are so “Bibilical” you would know what is a sin.

Why don’t you make a general plea to all brethren to turn from their sinful ways rather than ask pastors not to baptise fornicators? I hope you yourself are truly “righteous” before our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!!!

In other words, get a life

How hypocritical can one get? Isn’t the whole purpose of baptism to save souls? If that is so, it is especially important to baptize sinners. But even then, to self-righteous people, not all churches are equal, are they? You think the Almighty really cares what faith you are baptized in, or whether you are baptized at all when it comes to the last judgment? You really believe only baptized people can go to heaven? The God I pray to does not think in such a limited way of small-minded humans.

    • Baptism
      November 11, 2013

Baptism does not save you. If that were the case it would be rather easy to be saved. Belief in the Lord Jesus Christ, Confession of your sins to Him and acceptance of Him into your heart as your Lord and personal Saviour – that’s Salvation. Baptism is simply a public demonstration that you have accepted Christ as your Lord and Saviour.

      • November 12, 2013

        @Baptism November 11, 2013

Baptism won’t save a person who has been baptized and does not try to walk according to his or her baptismal oath.

For why did Jesus go up to John the Baptiste in the River Jordan, to be baptized by him, if baptism did not play a vital role in the Salvation of man?

Why in the Great Commission to His disciples did Jesus commanded them to “baptize” people? Why did Jesus say to the man Nicodemus: Unless one is born again of “Water and the Spirit” he cannot see the Kingdom of God?

Why does the apostle Paul teach that we die with Jesus at our baptism so that we are raised with Him to live a “New Life”

And so baptism won’t save those who are baptized but continue in their sinful habit; it is the same as claiming to have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior while at the same time they continue to walk the walk of the world.

There baptism has to come with Salvation; and Salvation demands that the person who is saved is walking in the Spirit doing the things of Love–the Righteousness that is of God Almighty in Spirit and Truth and Holiness.

  55. November 11, 2013
