We want answers to our water problem

letter to the editorDear Editor,

It’s time someone shed some light on what’s been happening to us in the Calibishie, Savanne Paille area.

We been having water problems for the past five years. And all we get is empty promises. For a country with 365 rivers, we can’t have a continuous water supply, not even for one day! You wake up in the morning to get ready for work, no water.

You use up what you have collected from the rain, in hopes of having water to bathe when you come home. You leave the dishes and bathroom as is, hoping for water to clean up with after a long day. But when you arrive back home after a hard day, again no water!

So what options am I left with? The routine of the neighborhood has become to get up after midnight to clean, wash up and store water for the next morning….because that is the ONLY time we have running water!

Now, imagine if you happen to have to get some rest and you miss your midnight wake up call, the next day is even worse! Does our water have a full time job? It leaves early in the morning around 2am and comes back at midnight.

And to make things even worse, we are still getting charged our flat rate of $25, and for what I ask? For the meter to sit in our yards getting no use? We are literally getting robbed.

We need help! Is there anybody who can please help?

It just makes me so angry that I have to pay $25 for water that I don’t even see!

Why do our people just grumble and fuss either on DNO or Q95? You have a parliamentary rep so demand he do his work. Go to his home or office and demand it. All our people do is vote for the same person each election and expect things to change. The reps know that no matter what they will be reelected so why should they care? Your vote is your weapon to force the hand of your rep. Threaten them with it.

You are so right! But that Parl. Rep. Is totally useless. He promised the earth to Calibishie before the last elections. What has come of it? Absolutely nothing! The holes in the road from Portsmouth to Calibishie are getting bigger and deeper by the day. Simply dangerous! Instead of addressing much needed infra structure investment this Labour Government rather keeps its citizens happy with handouts. Like in the times of the Roman dictators and absolute rulers – give the plebs bread and games,

The Parl Rep has disclosed that he will not be a candidate for re election; so obviously he doesn’t care a rat’s tail. Legacy be damned.
My heart goes out to the folks in that area. Maybe they need to take things in their own hands and do what the people from Ansedemai did a few years ago.Roadblocks are illegal, but they get the authorities’ attention.

And I am sure you will vote the same Parl Rep for another 5 years! Go to him and lay your burdens on his shoulder.. then Skerrit. You will surely find answers. If not vote for him again, and hopefully the water will get a 24 hr job with pay
